Thank you Michael Rogge for finding and making available this entertaining, beautiful and nostalgic documentary. We will not forget, thank you again for your service, I wish you all the best recognition for your work. How beautiful Asia was!
I am sure that movie was perform in the 80's, because i appear at the min 11,46 in the Camoes garden and I was born after 70's
Thanks for the info. You are one of the few people who recognize themselves in my clips. I have adjusted the title of the clip accordingly.
Thank you Michael Rogge for this very nice video of pre-modernized Macau.
Thanks for sharing this precious film. It let me know more about this place i living.
was last there in November 2009, it's changed alot. Many of the old buildings are beautifully restored and preserved.
We are the Macaense. I love this
Old Macau was a quiet place but with an exotic frontier charm, a very exciting place to be, seedy and wonderful. Old Hong Kong had a different charm, but with some similar characteristics. Frontier Guangdong in cities like Zhuhai or what is now Shenzhen have changed a lot and are being lost in this rapid construction, post-charm and innocence China. The real Asia is disappearing, i advise all who wish too see it to go there in a few years as even pristine Sri Lanka and Myanmar are accelarating.
Fascinating. It probably is still an interesting place. I like to go there one day.
cool!
@gggu Yes, I heard so, but I haven't been in Macau for fifty years so have to rely of recent clips and TV items.
Macau looks so different without the fly-like tourists swarming around every single piece of interest. Cidade de Deus, I miss you
@wanderinggoose My site is meant to show how countries looked like in bygone days.
note to myself: dragon boats, incenses (church + temple), garden lou lim ieoc, camoes, panchoes, lion dance, riquexo
nice!
Thanks Michael, it´s really difficult in some parts of this video to listen what the narrator says.
nice
(07:18): The ??? Dragon Boat Festival
(07:36): And the ??? ceremonials christian festivals are also part of our lives.
(08:56): But the past and ???.
(09:32): And the art and poetry and architecture of many lands is found a home ??? here in tranquility.
Many thanks
this film looks more likely in 70s when the turbojet was shown in it !
if you ppl pay attention and look in detail to the places we portugues3e fought hard to conquer and maintain they are todays most richest places on earth because they are what i call the control spots over maritime passings and economic strongholds, like tangiers, to control venice, macau to control the goods from up river, singapure mallaca to control the straights indonesia, all streights are important thats why we got hold of ceylon etc, we had geographic knowledge advanced for the time
thank you for uploading
I noticed there were hardly any portugese but an abundance of asians
did the estado novo government have PIDE police in macao as they did in mainland portugal?
How old is this film, or when was it taken?
