Wow! What a sublime automobile! The amount of details is astounding!! Great job on the video production as well! I enjoyed it very much. Thank you! I can only imagine the feeling I would experience if I were the fellow picking it up brand new back in 1932!😁 Just Wow!
When I was young in the early 60’s my friend and I used to like to roam through junkyards ( you could do that back then). I remember seeing a Marmon like this, had little curtains in the back windows. I had never heard of Marmons and have never seen one since that day.
During the years of the Great Depression - this was the quintessential high water mark of American prestige and affluence on display. The Marmon Automobile was the car of Movie Stars, Business Moguls, and the old monied rich. There's nothing quite like a V16 powered luxury motor vehicle with custom coachwork to motor effortlessly amid the lower class proletariat and cause everyone to stop and watch a car such as this would. Marmon made sports Roadsters with the V16 engine as well. The Marmon was and still is Rare. However they were in the same class as Packards, Cadillacs, Dusenbergs, Pierce-Arrows, and on par with Rolls Royce, Avions Voisin, Maybach, Mercedes-Benz. and the behemoth Bugatti Royale. The Depression Years caused many luxury car makers to go under and never resurface. Once WW2 was ignited and we became involved - gas rationing and the war effort put these types of cars to rest, permanently. The few that survive today is a miracle. Many sat in storage buildings, garages, and barns for a decade or more. Mand after the war were scrapped as no one wanted these types of automobiles any longer. Marmon lived on as heavy Trucks merging with other makers until it is finally only a name brand with no real vehicle tied to it. My my my......I would LOVE to ease out on a nice weekend with this! Id have to fight off the strong urge to wear an all black suit/sunglasses/hat and make passes around the same block, eyeballing people. Hahaha.
Might sound silly, but I would love to know what kind of miles per gallon or Kilometers per liter of fuel. A car with a V16 could reach, just for the wow factor
@@legioner9 Can I take a guess? DuPont Dulux Enamel? But this paint is recent, didn't the text say? Who would want it now, though - with no BlueTooth, phone chargers, or cup holders? They're gonna be stuck with it. But maybe I could take it off their hands, if they were to ask nicely. I was starting to suspect someone had slipped a 350 under the hood, since they weren't showing the engine, but whew, they came through. "A thing of beauty is a joy forever," someone wrote. I don't know about forever, but isn't it holding up well 87 years later?
I hear a bird or 2 tweeting in this car. Dealer might want to search and destroy before courting the incredibly affluent ladies and gentlemen who may be interested in this fine example of 30's luxury car engineering.
The hood ornament looks like a gun sight. This car makes extensive use of aluminum. Even so, it tips the scale at 5,100 pounds. See auto.howstuffworks.com/1931-1933-marmon-sixteen.htm
This 1932 Marmon 16 is the definitive "Classic Car". Truly amazing.

Sounds a cross between a top fuel rod and a big rig. It's absolutely amazing in any case!

It's probably no coincidence that when Marmon got out of the luxury automobile business that it got into trucks and 4x4 military vehicles.
Love The Yellow Rims!
Never heard of the Marmon 16 before this video. Thank U for sharing. 👍🏿

Truly handsome and interesting car.
Boy those cars were classy!
This could be the cleanest and most aesthetic design of 1932...
Absolutely beautiful car
Can just picture Mr Capone in one !

I'd have to sell my granny to get this gorgeous car!
Note the difference in the windshield between to opening sequence model and the car used for the video narrative.

Packard was far fancier than Marmon

I can't believe, how quiet is that engine...

Those spare tire mounted side mirrors are probably kinda annoying in actual use.
V16 DOHC engine! This was the american Maybach!
@@Rick-S-6063 Maybe one single overhead cam and rockers like BMW M10...Marmon engines were very modern (very much like Maybach of the same era)
