The bass player is the great Dwayne Dolphin of Pittsburgh, Pa. In the early '80s, we used to do an overnight jam session from 11pm to 6am at the Aurora Club in the Hill District/Pittsburgh. The guitarist here is the great Reggie Ward from Albany, Georgia. In the early 1990s, I used to jam with him at the legendary Living Room Lounge in Atlanta, Ga. The visiting vocalist on several occasions was Wali Ollie Woodson of Temptations fame. I'm not surprised that either of these two string-men, found success with the great James Brown living legend - Fred Wesley. The New JBs are awesome, so jazzy, so funky. TC - the drummer!
Brings back a whole Lotta great memories those steppers set were the best!!! I was in high school when I first heard this song. this and was dog a doughnut by cat Stevenson where my favorites and still are today Chicago steppers are the best🎉🎉🎉
It's certainly a nice groove. It's too bad there's a camera cut every 3 seconds. I like getting to watch the master make their craft. It's just so busy it's impossible to watch.
Pretty good but pales in comparison to Fred Wesley and the Horny Horn's version featuring Bootsy on space bass, Bernie Worrell on keyboards and a serious Wesley solo... hard to find a funkier track... ruclips.net/video/p439jEufNo8/видео.html
Christ, you'd think the bass player could get that simple bassline right. He's playing the wrong intervals completely out of the scale and it sounds bad.
+cursedswordsman You should buy you new ears.... bassist sounds perfectly ( plays a D6/9 arpeggio over a D9 guitar chord ; if it is what annoys you) . But maybe you shoud advise Fred Wesley about its harmonic choices ?? . Please dont be so self confident ...

+Louis Hugues You told everything. Perfect harmony for the ones with good ears.
Man, the entire musical community would be deeply grateful if you could find it in your icy heart to take down this comment.
Clearly no knowledge of funk here. Ever heard of syncopation?
I think you meant to say "I don't like this!"
