The Bianzano - Colonel Roger’s Favourite - The High Drive - DADGAD - Celtic Fingerstyle Guitar

- This is a reel set I recorded for my album "The Mystical Land" a few years ago, influenced by Tony McManus' style of playing. The Bianzano is a catchy tune by Michael Cassidy. Colonel Roger’s Favourite is traditional tune. Last tune is a slightly reduced version of "The High Drive" by Gordon Duncan.
Bass guitar and bodhran was later added as an attempt to make it sound more groovy!

The trills and surprising voicings are a real treat.
Wow what landscapes!
Phenomenal. Much respect and appreciation. God bless
Living in a city (not by choice) I do love to see some nature, but even though I have curbed my drinking, there is something about this music that longs for an old-fashioned smokey tavern and a few drams of Single and my horned tankard overflowing with real Ale, or a strong decent Cider. Last Christmas here in China you were my Christmas Eve go-to. A 4k roaring simulated 86-inch fire, a well-stocked fridge and it was Jig time. After the Carols, of course, got to keep it festive and holy. Cheers for that, and even though my wife is not amused tis on the agenda for the coming yule. I started to play again after twenty-five years, but even silent night finger-picked alludes to me once the booze kicks in.
You never cease to amaze me, amigo. Your guitar music is unparalleled. ❣️
Brilliant !
as ever, fantastic!
Absolutely beautiful playing as always - and lovely to see and hear that Larrivee!
Perfection!
Stephen, in the past couple months I’ve been listening quite extensively to your complete discography on spotify and I want to thank you for your beautiful music. While solo guitar can be technically demanding you make it sound effortless and everything flows beautifully right to the heart. When I’m listening to your music I’m transported far away. Your Celtic Guitar Duets album is a personal favorite. Thank you !
Thank you, Augustin! I really appreciate the support. Cheers!
Excellent Stephen !
The tremolo technique you employ is superb! I aspire to be able to do that one day.
unbelievable. You're such a magician.
As usual, an awesome piece played with virtuosity. Love the right hand tremolo.
Absolutely Brilliant. 😊😊😊
again, perfection
Lovely tune, it's great to see new video from you, Stephen. Hope you are doing well, all the best.
Thank you, Daria! Really appreciate the comment, take care
Should come perform at Fairport's Cropredy Convention, would be awesome to see you up on stage
A marvelous technique and such a fluid and ethereal interpretation in the service of this beautiful Celtic music that I love so much. Congratulations Stephen, thanking you for this wonderful artistic sharing. Like 107

Lovely performance Steve great Sound best wishes Phil UK England 👍
Absolutely stunning, a joy to listen and watch. Thank you, certainly lightens the mood in these dark, depressing days.
Wow! That was exciting! I love the upbeat ones! Thanks for uploading ☺️
Absolutely amazing!!!
Brilliant ☘
Superb. I wanted to find a style to play, to continue my musical journey. Thanks to you I think I found it.
Anyone could recommend a guitar brand or model for this style of playing?
Thanks.
Great job, man!
Belíssimas música e imagens
Excellent as always Stephen. Got your "The Mystical Land" and pdf but I can't print it off...for some reason it prints off really small in the center of the page so I can't see it to learn it. Still learning your "Pipe Major Donald Maclean" another great piece, loving all the pull-offs :-) Probably my stupid printer. Sometimes I just enjoy following the score whilst listening to you play. Anyway, keep this wonderful music coming
Thanks Dan, have you tried "fit to page" or "scale" in the printer settings?
@@StephenWakeGuitar Thanks for the advice. It's a friend of mine who prints stuff for me at work and he can't access settings etc to do that :-(
Lovely. I'm irish.
Beautiful as always! Does the digital version of mystical land come with the tab/music book also?
HI Richard, thank you! Yes it does, you just need a computer to download the zip file from Bandcamp to open up the PDF, or you can purchase it here bit.ly/3b6Lzbv
Incredibly good, thank you. Can i ask if you use just your first and middle fingers on your right hand or also your other fingers too? Whatever way it is absolutely beautiful thanks.
I believe Stephen uses also the third finger, not the pinky. The triplets on the high strings are played 3-2-1
@@danydhondt4677 Yes, thats correct. Every finger except the pinky which is impossible to train lol
Thanks so much both of you, very helpful, but more importantly just fantastic playing. I play guitar in various tunings and sometimes with a pick or thumb pick, the more I learn the more I appreciate the standard of your playing. Thanks and hopefully you enjoy your playing as much as we do!
His fingers will be known henceforth and the picks of destiny
A hug from Florence. You are wonderful Stephen. I took your video and I ask you if I can put it on my channel, in honor of my daughter Caoimhe (KEE-VA), Irish, blind. She is gone now, and believe me, with all my money, no one is going to give her back Stephen. I hope you visit me in Carrickart, Donegal, Ireland. I've been playing guitar for 39 years, but you are 10 times better than me. A hug again. Tá tú go hálainn a Stiofán laistigh agus lasmuigh. Barróg arís ó Fhlórans agus Dún na nGall. Scotland, Ireland and Italy forever!
Doctor Max Mony (Lamon).
Sure, Max, you are welcome to upload it, sorry to hear about your daughter, if I'm ever in Donegal I will certainly get in touch. Cheers, Stephen
Thanks again Stephen; you have a heart of gold. I have never been to Scotland, but I will go there; now I'm with my mother in Florence. For you and your family, my home in Ireland will always be open.
Write me sometime Stephen. But how do you play the guitar with such a clean sound? You are wonderful inside and out. I am attaching an old video of my old record. It was recorded in analog and feels bad. I give you this gift. A cd for peace Stephen. Excuse my incorrect English, but it was 2 months that I was with my wife in Dublin. A hug again Stephen!

Thanks a million.
Thanks Stephen. I put your video on and I've been listening to it for hours. You are really good. If next week, I go back to Ireland and land with a stopover in Edinburgh, will you come and have a coffee with me? I'm waiting for you in Donegal. Write me. Hello.
"Colonel Rodger's favourite" for the second tune, isn't it ?
Thank you, laurent coraly. That's the one, just updated the title, cheers!
