So far as I can tell, this is the first mention of the value of ammo temp control to overcome the widely assumed overriding factor of air temperature, by any of the guru shooting RUclips generators or authors. Very ‘insightful’.
Glad to see you back after a short break. This is great info - real world tactics on how to deal with changing conditions and manage variables to achieve results. These are the types of things that separate true competitors from folks who can do excellent load development and shoot extremely well but don’t have this type of “on the fly” problem solving and adaptability. Thanks for sharing, as always.
Just started shooting f open this summer in my clubs monthly matches. Three matches down at 600. I have improved from a 576 13x my first match 581 16x second match and last weekend a 583 16x. Slowly climbing the leaderboards. I appreciate your content very much. October is a 1000 yard match that I will shoot. Hope Im ready
Great information Keith. Another at the match technique is to use the tuner. This means you need to test to see how to adjust the tuner for changes in temperature and elevation or humidity.
Thank you, this was very engaging info! This country boy has been stuck living in the city for about two years now, but that's coming to an end. I'm moving to a new house in a couple of months, and it's got clear line of sight for about 1300 yards right off the back patio. No more hour long drives to the range only once or twice per month. Hopefully, the deal doesn't fall through for some unforeseen reason. Fingers crossed. I really don't know how you guys do it. Between everything I load for, I'm sitting on at least 15 different handloads which need to be tested. They just keep piling up because I can't ever get to the range and when I do, it's simply exhausting trying to cram everything into a single range trip, almost to the point that it's not enjoyable. Anyway, again, thank you for the info; it gives me some new things to think about for sure.
This really helped me. I practice in winter but hunt prairie dogs in summer. Ill try putting my ammo in a cooler. Also i shoot from a bipod and experimented on shoulder pressure. I can raise it .5moa with more shoulder pressure. This confirmed im not crazy 😆
Our guy is out here from the movie "wanted" out thier curving a bullets flight path around Angelina Jolie in to a x at 1000! I thought that was all Hollywood, now I know the Way.
I knew about the the sun and the cooler but didn't think shoulder pressure would change velocity. Have to test this on my setup to see if it if it will work for me. Moving foreword a mm at a time.
So when you do the load development the ammo should be stored in a temperature controlled container, and when you go to the match the same container should be holding your match ammo. Then you need to shoot the development ammo and the match ammo using a similar cadence as far as possible. Or switch to VV N555 which has the flattest temperature response curve I have ever tested.
I understand it to be- barrel vibrates vertically. You tune the rifle so the faster rounds leave the barrel when it’s at the bottom of the cycle. Slower rounds exit when the muzzle is higher, adding a bit of trajectory to overcome the slower round.
I am a novice in the world of high-precision shooting so please excuse my ignorance if I am making a silly comment on these aspects. As I listened to these points, I began to wonder if there would be any value in the use of a good tuner brake in one of these events (I don't even know whether or not such devices are legal devices in the rules or guidelines). But if they are legal, would they help put a shooter back in tune if used? Thanks for the really great info that this channel provides. I am just trying to soak up all the wisdom of these videos to help give me the tools to have more accurate equipment and help me grow as a shooter. Thanks very much!!!
Tuners have a place. If you have unlimited sighters, lots of time, and cool weather, they can do most of the adjusting for you. The downside is when it's hot, or the conditions are optimal at the beginning of the relay, not to mention no or limited sighters. I haven't had a tuner threaded in the last several barrels, and they shoot better than my tuner equipped barrels, or I should say I shoot better with them because I don't have that one more thing to twiddle with.
Thought I was imaging the things u said: never heard that before. Still hunting . Will try match some time. Any matches 4 classic sport hunting rifles ? No ringers please 🦬🦬🦬🦬🐎🐎

Damn! The way you caught that spent case at 5:25 made you look like an absolute master.

Very good info, thanks! Now I have to get a scale to measure how much shoulder pressure I am using. 🙄
Great information keith.. thanks.. glad to see another video from you..
Enjoyed this video, interesting things I’ve not really considered- thanks and glad you’re back

Thanks Keith, I had really underestimated the full use of my shoulder pressure.

I don't shoot matches. But the advice is something to think about. Thanks Keith.

Nobody "hunts" Praire Dogs. You shoot the praire dogs
@@CoyoteRegulator massacre is more like it 😋
You read my mind ! This is a topic i have been pondering on lately , Thanks for the great info !
Brilliant video Keith!!
Thanks Keith that has clarified some of my assumptions and gave me some new things to try . Thank you for sharing to us mugs
All I can say is WOW 😮 . I just learned a few important things that I never knew anything about. Thanks Champ 👍.
.......I'll bet, that even some self-proclaimed champs with metals didn't even know some of this.

Good information

Awesome...really appreciate and learn from you heaps...
That's something we all have to practice, and become proficient at, great info like always. Thanks Keith.
Thanks..................... interesting ~~
Thank you great video. I will be joining you @ Patrion

Awesome video! This is some high level stuff!
Well I am first to like and first to comment. Great content. Thanks for sharing.
Awesome video 👏👏👏
Thank you 👍
Thank you for the knowledge
Thanks again!
You used the term positive compensation. That is a term I am not familiar with. Could you elaborate please?

Thank you for replying. This info is helpful in placing where, when, how, and how much they may help a shooter with his tuning. Great channel!!!
