If you would like to listen to the song on its own, here’s the link ~ soundcloud.app.goo.gl/e5W7fqAbXw4TKxsu8 Easter was my fiancé’s family cat who was found alone in their backyard as a kitten. After checking that he wasn’t owned by anyone they took him in. He was always very friendly, curious and loving. He rarely meowed but purred and slobbered a lot, and loved nothing more than to rub himself against anything (or anyone) he could find. And he also loved water, which is kinda unusual for a cat ☺️ *TW: pet illness and death, cancer symptoms and death* - For the last few months he started to lose weight/appetite and bleeding from his left eye. We took him for vet checks and eventually learned that he was suffering from chronic blood loss due to a malignant tumour in his tummy. He became very tired and unsteady on his feet, and we were told that his body wouldn’t handle surgery or chemo. We decided to euthanise him before the pain of the tumour set in (the blood loss was apparently numbing the pain at the time). I only knew him for the last 5 years of his life, but his company was very cathartic when I was upset and his death had a major impact on me (which is why I haven’t uploaded in a few weeks, I’ll be back to regular uploading next week). Rest In Peace Ebbie, thank you for everything 💚
My cat went to cat heaven today. She took a part of me when she was gone. It hurts like hell. Sorry for your loss. This video must have been very hard to make.
Thank you for your message, and deepest condolences for your own kitty. People often underestimate how much a beloved animal’s death can impact the owners/caregivers - it really does feel like you’ve lost a family member, because you have. We carry on comforted by the idea of our pets being at peace, whatever happens after death 💚
I always cry when I watch that scene in Fox and the Hound (it’s my favourite Disney movie)… it’s so sad but also very beautiful and underrated… I thought it was a very fitting choice of song for a tribute to our beloved kitty Easter 💚
I went to look for him today. Halfway to his room, it hit me that,, he wouldn't be there. He wouldn't run up to greet me. I'm never gonna see him again. I wasn't there for him in his last moments. He fought so hard to say goodbye and I wasn't there. RIP Johnny. You were a good kitty.
I’m so sorry about Johnny, I hope that he is at peace and that you and any of his other human friends are healing. I’m sure he knew how much you loved him and that he was happy with the life you’ve given him 💚 Sometimes when I go by Easter’s pen, where his bed still is, I get the urge to go say hi and pet him before realising he’s gone even though I was there when he passed. The pain has eased over time, but it’s still there even in the subtlest way. The best I can offer is that while the grief may always be there, it’s gets easier to manage with time and self-forgiveness 💚
@@Kabbaway he was so sick. We didn't know until it was too late. Diabetes left unchecked. His sugar was so high. He was so cold. He should've already been dead but he held on. I know I'll never get that moment back to spend with him but his last paw print is going to be my first tattoo.
It’s always devastating when you find out health problems too late to fix them, we were too late with Easter too 😔 it’s very easy to blame ourselves for what happens to our furry friends, but we’ve all got to be lenient on ourselves and realise that we did the best we could at the time. It doesn’t subtract from the overall time and memories we shared with them. That’d be a wonderful tribute to him 🐾 💚
Thank you so much for commenting, having a different pet preference is completely valid. Fox and the Hound was a formative film for me as a kid, so singing this song from it was a given for this tribute to Easter. Just before he died, we adopted another older cat and we are giving him all the love he deserves in his twilight years 💚
Me too - it’s also quite nostalgic for me since Fox and the Hound has been my all-time favourite Disney movie since I was little, but yes it’s quite poignant 💚
Thank you 💚 we miss him dearly, but we’re also dedicated to looking after our other kitty Owen… we got him from an RSPCA shelter, just a month before Easter passed away. He’s 13 and has survived cat flu (which he’s a carrier of for life) and animal cruelty, and he sleeps at our feet on the bed every night 😊
Thank you, I’ve been meaning to do a cover of this song for a long time since Fox and the Hound has actually been my favourite Disney movie since childhood… and with the passing of our lovely kitty Easter singing that song felt like a nice tribute to him 💚
@@Kabbaway yeah that is such a great movie it shows an example of don't be what everyone thinks you should be. And it's also cool how copper stopped Amos from shooting Todd and Amos realized that Todd did save him from the bear
Absolutely! The movie definitely shaped my strong opinions on friendship, deconstructing social conventions/expectations, animals and the environment… not to mention my obsession with angsty stories 😭 it’s probably not the most kid-friendly movie, but 6 year old me was unfazed and managed to really enjoy it even though it’s not as upbeat and hopeful as other Disney classics… I dunno, the bittersweet realism still gets me 💚
Thank you and no worries, I always welcome comments on my channel - it’s good for meeting new people and for the YT algorithm to recommend my videos to more people 🙂
