    Climbing with a helmet! I just realized how many videos I've seen recently with no helmets. I always wore one. A climber two pitches above me knocked loose a grapefruit sized rock. I was saved by a day pack and a helmet. It hit the strap on my pack and bounced off my helmet. My ears were still ringing when I went to bed that night, and I couldn't move my arm for a week, but I'm here to tell my boring story.

    Thanks for posting these classic climbs. It's helpful to see route-specific beta, and to watch how an expert climbs the Gunks in general.

    Absolutely love this - great POV for a great climb, and the calming music reflects my headspace while climbing. Thanks so much for making these, I can’t tell you how much they help me keep my sanity when I go weeks between Gunks trips (or the dreaded months).

    7:53 one of my life’s most lucid, indelible memories. From 1987. Thin feet !

    I thought for sure you’d do the crescendo CCK direct finish. Fun stuff these are great good job.

    These videos are incredible. Can you post a video or picture of your setup?

      Just an Insta360 cam. There are lots of setup videos out there already so don’t think I’ll make one. :)

    Great video Silas! What were you doing with the backside/clipping side of the nut behind the flake beofre you simply reracked it and moved on?

    • @silasrossi
      @silasrossi  2 года назад

      There is a stuck tricam - I was trying to fish out the sling to clip. A nut tool would have worked!

    Assuming you use an insta360, how do you control the invisible selfie stick's position? I have only been using mine vertically or at a slight angle over my shoulder, but I see in your videos it is way behind you, but still stable and steady. How do you rig that?

    The Direct finish of "CCK" would be as worthy as the entire route "Modern Times"
    Done in 2 long pitches (1st belay on the pedestal, just left, under the 'crux') w/ the direct finish, A special sort of send

    • @silasrossi
      @silasrossi  5 месяцев назад

      I really like the first section of CCK Direct into the normal finish.

    Great video.
    How did you mount your 360 camera?
    What mount did you use?
    What pole?
    How was it mounted to your backpack?
    Did it catch on any tree branch or overhang?

      I think the poster means that you did the second pitch of “Updraft”, at least according to my recollection if the old Dick Williams books.

    • @bonefishboards
      @bonefishboards 3 дня назад

      @@silasrossi you did the 2nd pitch of Updraft; a completely underrated climb in itself. The 2nd pitch of CCK is fantastic and includes an exciting mantle.
