You just told the copper thieves where it is!
It isn’t copper though
Tell them to steal it in lightning day it's doubles the copper quantity😂
@@ravidas4852 farming shorts is going to spoil it.
It's OK lightning will strike them......
It’s not copper. It’s just thick Aluminium strips and the joints are done using brass ballasts. The conductor itself is again an alloy.
Copper strips must be installed using base insulators. In this case copper strips are directly fixed with walls using nails.
Current flows in low resistance path..But yes it should be insulated from wall.
I’m a professional electrician.
In my country we do insulate the strips from direct contact from the wall..also we do jacketing the strips for extra safety..
Im curious to know from which country this video from
@@subhajitdas846 bro india me bhi ese hi lagadete😂
Not for the safety it's for the building licence 😅😅
Is insulator has to be used on strip buried inside ground (from building bottom to pit) or can be lay without insulator inside ground?

Lightning rods are not supposed to be hit by lightning. Sometimes they do but it’s not what they are for . They pull the ions out of the air to prevent lightning from happening. If you’re building does get hit the rods are not strong enough to stop damage to electrical or stop a fire
One comment which states its actual use.
Yes. Thank you. All the people just assume explanations these days.
Thanks much I have been an electrician for over 5 years and an electrical engineering students for a bit over a year and I just got the actual use of the Lighting arrestor.
How strong should the rod be if I may ask?
@@seawcia3925 rods placed in the ground are at least half inch thick and three feet . if possible you drive the rod straight down . if not a trench 18 inches deep will do . the cable used to attach to the rod is also thick and ran to the top of the building and attached to another rod usually only 18 inches long by one half thick . on large buildings you may see several . but on a house only one is needed . this does not attracts lightening . it prevents it . lightening can still strike but if it does it will have a clear path . this set up is not attached to the building it i
s set up like you would an electric wire so if it is hit its not touching anything .
It is Franklin type lightening arrester. But it should connect to a GI strip which suppose to maintain a good gap with the surface through Epoxy Isolator
How to prevent Spiderman from getting webs onto your building:
Lol
No, it shouldn't be normally struck by lightning. It works by bleeding the ion in the sky to prevent lightning strike to happen in the first place.
A Real Life Lighting Rod 💀
What do you mean by this? Lightning rods have been a thing for ages.
@@checkedchecked7771 he was probably referencing to Minecraft lighting rod
Edit: fixed spelling mistake
I love how I learn things from minecraft which some items does actually exist irl. Another example was obsidian: I'd realized it actually exists
Lightning rods were invented by ben franklin way back. minecraft just added them
Bruh
For many people who don't know even if it seems that it's very dangerous because it is near to playground but the lightning conductor's second end ends in a pot which is dug water and salt are added to the pit so the lightning could be transferred into the ground quickly
Usually I’ve seen the copper goes inside a PVC because sometimes when attached to the building, the building tends to damage anyway. And the end needs to be connected to a large copper plate sinned in minerals and conductive mixtures under the ground deep around 4-6 feet.
It actually raises the ground charge up above the building. Doesn’t pull the sky to the ground.
Imagine someone taking shelter from the strong wind and rain with an umbrella accidentally backing up to it when lightning strikes
And to those actually searching for an explanation:
Electricity always searches for the path of lowest resistance. Everything is a conductor after a threshold is reached, that's why lighting can travel through air which is usually considered non-conductive
So when the electricity from lightning travels through the air and reaches the top of a building, it will prefer the path of lowest resistance created by the copper rods and channels and connect to ground
Lightning actually strikes upward. That's why the "lightning arrester" has multiple prongs so it can disperse the charge before in accumulates into a lightning strike.
Remember kids don't stay near that thing that attracted lightning.
The playground, the lightning system... what a place to put either one, anyway you look at it! ...
Benjamin Franklin invented it in 1749. Knowing this would safe thousands of thousands of lifes he chose not to patent his new device.
Benjamin Franklin didnt invent shit.
Indians invented it 1000s of year ago
We put it on top of temple .
@@entertainmentstudio620source? i hope it also includes any written records of the reason for such design decision and a description of its working
@@entertainmentstudio620indians be like: everything you see, it is always originated from India only. Even the solar system is originated from india isn't it?
@@Reaper-cr2eg why so jealous??
no, It actually lowers the chance of lighting striking in the first place. its because it is grounded and is negatively charged around it and lighting is negative too, so lighting will naturally go to anything positive.
Iv seen those strips around the top of buildings before but never new what it was lol thanks ya learn something new everyday
Cool
That is only when positive strike happens , which is very rare, much of the time positive charge is discharged from ground up via lightening conductors into the sky and keeps our bulding safe too😊😊😊😊
Imagine accidently bumping that right in the middle of it getting struck by lightning.
For anyone asking why isnt it uses to make electricity for the building, it would litelarry blow the building up with that big of electricities
Anyone from the south remember lightening rods on people's houses?
We had them in the NE, too.
Bro really had the balls to go near it while thunderstorm 😭💀
Why no one ever think to insulate the copper sheet ? Atlest cover it at the groundfloor where its publicly accessable.
C- on facts. The static sound and pretending to be shocked by it is ludacris. It works by bleeding static from the air before it builds enough to form a lightning bolt.
In india, The metal *Kalasam* fitted above the temple tower is a good lighting conductor. So it protect the surrounding place from lighting. An ancient proverb exists that 'Dont live in a city where temple not present. Kalasam placed above 50 meters from ground over temple tower and its covers the area of 100 meter radius as lighting protector.
You’re doing great keep going, new sub🎉🎉

Bro flied to sky for recording that sound effect 🫣🫡
Fun fact: lighting rods were created in Czechia🧐
Can that be used as off grid system? I mean storing in a battery?
nope electricity and lightning is different
if that be possible,we”ll have infinite electricity glitch irl
This process is also called earthing. Many electrical appliances have 3 types of wires, a live wire, another neutral wire and the last earth wire; This earth wire takes the excess current down to the earth which prevents us from getting a fatal shock or damaging our appliances. ( Well I read this in grade 10).
Terminating electricity in kids is a good idea 💀👀
I rememver that i read about this in class 7 and instantly recognized it. Very good technique 💯
Only connected to the ground doesn’t help. There has to be a charger pit underneath which is to be regularly maintained with charcoal and common salt. Else, the Lightening Conductor would not be conducting very well.
Nope its just like that. All we want to reach is it hits the top. Onec underneat the earth it can go where it wants. The house is the charger it spreads into the ground. We build allmost all houses with it i Swiss here...... you just start building it up from the cellar up to the roof with every level you connect more..... but we hide them inside the cementwalls from cellar and the brickwalls up..... you cant see it..... this obe must have been addet later on after the construction.....
@@MrCakocalypse Might be it’s to do with the soil in India. Maintenance of my office buildings used to be under me and these charger pit had to be maintained religiously. Else during inspections by the HQ would give me a mouthful.
Once my neighbouring office didn’t maintain it and during a thunderstorm, all their telecommunications equipment got fried as a lightning struck the telecommunications wire going from one building to the other.
@@junaid42465 no im from Switzerland you silly😂 We install it in the standart family houses! Its since over 20 years as i stopped in construction and we used to install them here its standart! Here is every house earthquake safe the foundation must be put of propper cement and in the foundation ground we would cement it! Than we would lead it between the iron into the cellar walls they must also be concrete here! From there you just add parts and extend it allways between the bricks beceause our walls are from baked red bricks and cement! Double wall allways for the winter insulation! And you build it in between the 2 walls outside! All the way up to the roof! 🙄🙄🙄 Im a Swiss construction builder and we have one of the highest standarts here bro!
Every level of the house has 2 times 15 inch bricks! Onec the outside wall than like 7 inch insulation and again a wall of 15 inch stones. This one must be put later or someone mindless build this house!
@@junaid42465 your soil in india is verry good possible to contain a big ammount of copper😂👌 and your tropical tunders there should be not to different from southeastasian storms. Thats worst than a war bombing i guess😂
@@MrCakocalypse 😂😂 I did get it that you were from Switzerland. That’s why I mentioned India. In the North Western part of India were soil is mostly sandy or hard rocky, this is done.
However, now when I think of it, in my hometown in the North Eastern part, we just used to stick it to the ground with a iron picket. The North East region has rich red soil and we get lots of rain and thunderstorms. But that was 30 yrs ago. I don’t know what’s the latest in the buildings and all there. It’s been 22 yrs away from home.
We get all different kind of soil in different parts of the country. So might be the system is different in different region. I’ll have to check. 🍻
It’s not just for cases where lightning strikes the building but it also prevents buildup of static charges making lightning less likely to strike

Unpopular fact: lighting come from the ground
What you said is only truth if a positive lightning its hit, and positive ligtning strike are very rare, since the most commend lightning is negative ligtning that is the one that we do not want to hit the house, so what it actually does the positive charge that gets build into the stick gets push closer to the cloud so the negative lightning will not be able to strike it and have to found another way to balance it out by founding postitve within the cloud. Also that does not mean that negative lightning will never hit it. Positive lightning normally strike very far away from the storm so if the storm is right above your house it is guarantee not to be positive ligthning. If negative lightning does hit it, it will be the same protection as if the positive lightning hit it
Pro Tip: Don't be near it while it's thundering.

They didn't even put anything around it so that no one gets hurt bruh
I do have a question - Can we store the lightning ⚡ as electricity 🔌 that we could use ?
Lightning actualy donot hit on the rod except for some really rare circumstances, it works by discharging the clouds above it through corona discharge, if there is a thunder storm at night, sometimes you can see it glowing cause of the plasma created by corona discharge infact if lightning hits the rod it would destroy it
That's Why Indian's Put Trident On Their Roof !

I aldready learnt it in my science class but you have explained nicely👍
That small diameter pole and thin strip look woefully inadequate. Seems like it could easily arc if something else is grounded nearby... You see other building have massive lightning rods.

I saw a video about how new methods using lasers are being used in place of traditional lightning rods on tall buildings
Its also a reasons Indian temples were sum bulit at top mountain and in middle of village temples have sikhara
