I’m so sorry… please keep listening to RUclips to encourage/ give understanding to yourself/situation. Find a licensed, certified trauma therapist online if you have to. I had the same problem… no availability but didn’t think to hurry and do online. It cost me everything. I also lost my routine of alone time with Jesus… His Word and worship … just being still with Him. That’s KEY. Even praying thru a psalm or a chapter in Colossians or Ephesians to remind you who you are in Christ. God steady you and keep you safe in His arms.

I rode this thing all the way down. This is a tickle compared to the full breakdown experience. I broke my own hand, poured scalding hot tea onto my own lap and finally I could no longer tie my shoes or make a simple decision. Five years of honest living has restored me somewhat but not enough to be fully functional. That's terrifying considering we are all the same. If we do not get REALLY HONEST RIGHT NOW we are going to need a miracle.

Last week I found myself thinking of the scripture " in the Last days the Love of many will wax cold ......" . People desperately need Faith and God more than ever but having experienced serious betrayals in my life by people claiming to be Christian, I am Wary of Brick and Mortar churches, extremely wary of Organized Religion but in the morning I sit with my coffee , watch dazzling sunrises, and try to commune with The Most High God, the Creator of all that Beauty. His Presence still sustains me though I am Not always Clear on His Path for me ! Sometimes I go to Prayer, struggle to meditate, and find myself trembling with trauma just wanting to sob from deep within

Regarding the spiritual decline post=pandemic, l realized that for me, the ability to see/trust God in what had/was still happening was beyond me because it was a global ordeal (versus simply seeking him in my personal challenges) and that distance began to decrease when l focused on scriptures that told me he sees everything and that the doers of evil, those that inflicted or benefited from the trauma caused would receive what was due them. I needed to be able to see that God was still in control in a world that was out of control.

Thank you for this video and permission to not have to keep up with the world or other churches for that matter. My husband and I pastor a small church in south Orange County CA. We have mega churches surrounding us. I've been saying for years people do church like a restaurant. They like the ale carte menu to pick and choose what services to attend, life groups, kids ministry, etc. Our church is more like a pot luck, where everyone brings something to the table. Unfortunately, 2020 the meal landed on a handful of us and now after a year of being back, we're still doing the cooking. We don't have children's ministry or youth ministry and our men and women's bible study is still online. We lost most of our church members due to online church and deciding to make a transition to a new church or state. God has brought new people, but after 20 plus years of pastoring, we are starting over and my husband and I are running on fumes. It's hard because we should know better to "do all things in Christ Jesus who gives us strength." But the truth is, we are running on empty. Thank you for your healing message. I've listened to this at least 5 times!

I lived in South Orange County for about 20 years. I still visit OC from time to time to see family. Always wishing I could move back, etc. I spent most of my 20's at Calvary Costa Mesa. Pastor Chuck Smith was wonderful. Good memories of another church in the Costa Mesa area is "The Eagles Nest". Loved their movie night during the week. Watched "A Thief In The Night" there; and accepted Jesus the next day.

Thank you for this conversation. Meditation helped me immensely in my journey of self awareness and relationship with God. Learning to meditate trained my mind to take every thought captive. It was similar to a strength building exercise. I used meditation as a way to practice strengthening my ability to take my thoughts captive. Now that I can quickly enter and stay in a quiet mental space, I can spend longer periods of time with God without mental distractions.

    • @winniecash1654
      @winniecash1654 2 года назад +1

I think the word 'meditation' is tricky so if you don't mind a little clarification. Meditating on a Bible passage is different than emptying your mind and going "Om." Which style of meditation do you employ?

    • @laurencurnutt601
      @laurencurnutt601 2 года назад +3

I started with guided meditation. It helped me to notice when I was getting lost in thought and bring myself back to mental clarity. I had previously kept a noisy mental space. I was bad at ruminating and making mental lists and created a great deal of anxiety all the while. Now that I can quickly take my thoughts captive (what I learned through guided meditation), I am able to meditate on God’s word or have peaceful prayer.

I feel like we've been through a mass trauma here in the U.S. It's as if the veil was pulled back on how labor is valued and managed, and how we're laborers and consumers before we're human, almost.
What was the most difficult for me was to watch as men, especially, recorded themselves getting out of expensive pickup trucks, walking into grocery stores and screaming at store employees for asking them to cover their faces. Then there were the men who recorded themselves screaming at cashiers for wearing masks, and then acting as if their human rights had been violated because they couldn't tell if the low-wage women at the cash register were smiling at them.
That was a gut punch for me. People were dying, my friends who work on COVID-19 units were running on fumes, but these men were furious that low-wage women couldn't easily perform glee at serving them.
Clicked on those profiles an saw a lot of Bible and cross emojis.
I'm depressed and angry at Texas Christians.

Wisdom from the Lord ... I opened my Bible to it immediately after listening to this podcast. So powerful and pertinent to the discussion:
      Jeremiah 17:5-8
      (5) This is what the Lord says:
“Cursed are those who put their trust in mere humans,
who rely on human strength and turn their hearts away from the Lord.
      (6) They are like stunted shrubs in the desert, with no hope for the future.
They will live in the barren wilderness, in an uninhabited salty land.
      (7) “But blessed are those who trust in the Lord
and have made the Lord their hope and confidence.
      (8) They are like trees planted along a riverbank,
with roots that reach deep into the water.
Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought.
Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

The trauma I endured this past 3 years due to health issues and the stress and anxiety over the covid crap had pushed me to the brink last June. I had to pull away from everything. I haven't been to church since . The divide over the covid mandates and vaccines caused extreme stress and trauma on top of my already extreme trauma, caused me to be suicidal. I've never in my life felt like this and so desperate for help which the church did not give. They perpetuated the problem by saying I don't have enough faith ect ect.
Taking time alone with my kids on a time out from it all has helped me.

I don’t have anything left. All of what took place triggered past trauma. I had no idea I even had unresolved, forgotten anything, so other than say I need a break, somethings off (and no one taking me seriously), I initially did nothing. I lost my mind. I failed and lost my entire family I’ve loved and served over 30 years. I’m barely existing. And fragmented mind?? Depleted??

Only God can give you the capacity to forgive and when you start to pray for yourself in repentance and pray and bless those that hurt and offended you, do you shut the door to Satan, and allow the blessings of God to flow into your life. It is the second commandment. Love your God Almighty and then love your neighbour's/enemies as you love yourself.

I needed this today;. in a big way. Feeling very burnt out. I've been wondering why I can't find an ounce of creativity. And I'm an artist, designer, cosmetologist. The last two years ..? feels like a blurry, Uber strange, Uber nightmare. No wonder I was forgetting small things all the time.
I just read something interesting on trauma a few weeks ago. Your brain goes into this mode where it has to shut down at times. It happens to us all at one time or another. So it's actually ok to space out and stare out the window or enjoy a day at your local park. Our brains need rest from all of the crazy out there. And we need to become better at this because we are now headed to the short time leading us to the rapture.
Life will in fact become more stress filled. All part of God's plan. Every prophesy coming to pass from the Book Of Daniel and Book Of Revelations. Praying helps a great deal. Staying close to Jesus in all things. He's asking all of us to be obedient. Keep loving your neighbors, neighborhood, community.
We can't give up now; we have made it this far. We can make it to the finish line. ✨🤍😊✨

I've listened to this interview numerous times, and I was touched by a spiritual vulnerability, that John mentions, to unbelief brought on by trauma and the strategy to combat it. Powerful...
    Vulnerability to Unbelief:
    • In your depleted condition, some heartache enters in…and in that moment the enemy pounces to urge us to give up on God. He’s not good. He’s not for you. He’s not with you. In their vulnerable condition, the enemy of their souls has swept in to cloud and poison their relationship with God.
    Strategy:
    • I began to pray to reject the presence of the enemy in my life. I reject you. I make no agreements with you. I disavow you. I choose God.
    • Over time, the cloud began to clear and all I was left with was the heartache. The heartache is real. The heartache remains. The cloud [of disbelief] does not need to be there.
    • “Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.” (Jm 4:7)

I've mentioned your ministry to so many leaders over the past 2 years & my heart aches for them, seeing how they've been verbally beaten up by so many believers. Could I make one small suggestion - the flickering flame in your fireplace shows up just beside your head in your interview....it's visual noise & it's distracting. Hope you don't mind me mentioning it. I love your stuff - please don't stop posting! :)

For me, I was diagnosed in 2006 with a severe rare heart disorder which is roughly 90% genetic, a PHD in genetics told me, "We could find no genetic markers". Until this century people with this problem seldom lived to old age. One feature of my problem is calculated as a 1 in 30 million probability. A very reputable cardiologist told me in November 2007, " The chances of your survival are EXTREMELY small", he emphasied it like that.
One feature of this "Valley of the shadow of death" journey has been that fear has never played any part.
To me this is a demonstration of how my Saviour has chosen to keep me here (for now). 😁
My advice is Proverbs 3:5 " Trust in the Lord with all of your (wonky) heart". 🖕

I see coming back from covid shut down, that i do not recognize my CHURCH ! The pastoral staff, support and even janitorial staff are scared, "preaching WOKE culture", fear drives almost every word from the pulpit. We had about 2.5 thousand. Now just hundreds. They canceled Sunday evening services. Wednesday evenings are a strange mix of separated gatherings in different areas if the church building. Did I mention the staff is terrorized and won't even loan a pen at the visitor's center. We were not encouraged to pray together. The messages include some reference to white privilege, the pastoral pulpit prayers are full of doubt. Fear. And apostasy against the ONE we come together to "wordhip" our songs worship and prise us. I am not sho ked people are leaving church. Many are just looking for someone to preach from The Bible. Truth, encouragement, faith even.

Thank you for sharing the status of your current congregation and pastoral staff. When leaders are fearful, the congregation will suffer. We saw that in the Book Of Numbers. As you pray for the leaders, ask the Lord if it is time to start looking for a different local church to attend. I am sure that there are other local leaders who are not ministering in fear.
“those very men who brought the evil report about the land, died by the plague before the LORD.” (Num 14:37)
“Only do not rebel against the LORD, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the LORD is with us. Do not fear them. And all the congregation said to stone them with stones." (Num 14:9,10)
“For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” (2Tim 1:7)
“For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, Abba, Father.” (Rom 8:15)

While I truly appreciate the thoughtful approach to discussing the traumatic effects of
recent societal upheavals, I usually start getting anxious when faith, religious belief and
scripture are employed as sources of knowledge and reparation. Whether or not we can
admit it, we all have beliefs, (The oldest meaning of which is Sanskrit for "a wish"),and usually we incorporate these into a way of living and even our personality/identity. My
point is that once this incorporation occurs, rational, balanced, respectful discussion will
often leave the stage, leaving only preaching and/or proselytizing to convey the message. And this isn't limited to religious topics at all.
Of course, most would slough this off as the simple human trait of an aversion to being challenged or discovered to be lacking in a well reasoned position or viewpoint...
I would ask, How prevalent has this "faith based" attitude been in so many aspects of
modern life? It would seem to me that dark forces have learned to weaponize our belief systems and place us all in a convictionless quicksand. Where every day is filled with
the trauma of power depleting confusion....IMHO

Understand this! Get this! That the ones who do not fully understand our grace walk talk from a Pharisee position, of “Spiritual witchcraft” (see Galatians 3) of the witches brew….the practice of mixing grace with deeds of “righteousness “ which are really just filthy wraps floating around in that brew! “Him who comes to me I shall in no wise cast out! Once in rest, no need to ever work again!
Christ is the end of the law for All who believe the grace message. There is a spiritual understanding that involves the change of mind ( metanoia : repentance) needed to cross over into Canaan.
Once in the promised land, if the Israelites would have still wanted to go back to Egypt, well…there would be no other hope for them seeing that they were not fully in… they were walking in a land they did not believe belonged to them.
Once we believe the land of Israel (blessed of God) is for us, belongs to us, is our inheritance, not because of anything we have done, not even because of us stepping through the Jordan river, carrying the ark of the covenant into that land, or building our home in the land, but all because we have a God who gives us every good and perfect gift, then we will truly enter that rest.
So, sir Ekklesia, you still wanna go back to Egypt where the children labored day in and day out as slaves… or would you rather start experiencing all the blessings of sonship God had planned for you from before the foundation of the World?
    In Canaan or in Egypt?
