First Story: Classic Karen move. Tell someone you have something you actually don't and act like you know what you're talking about even though you don't.
S1: That Karen probably doesn't even know the basics of psychology, let alone have an actual degree. It's not negative messaging if you're helping someone get better at a skill or game. Unless there's actual condescension in your voice, it's simply a mentor/student dynamic.

Story 3: It seems that the dad favored The brothers over the OP. The dad should be ashamed of himself for trying to force The Op to become a housewife to marry her off to one of his coworkers. even though he didn't want to. The father getting arrested for Dui was karma coming back to bite him in the butt. I hope the OP doesn't have to deal with her dad for a long time.
I'm actually more amazed that the brothers not only didn't treat OP the same way as their father did, but giving her the most support in her life.

@@MarsJenkar My guess is that while the dad is too busy setting up OP's "path", the mother spent all those time lecturing the brothers correctly and manages to set them in a correct path. I mean, they not only already have their own place to stay, but they also bought OP her desired house. So that means they must have been successful.

Story 2: NTA. That was very fair and mature of OP in how they handled their pushy overbearing parents. I would have passive aggressively tried to irritate them and make it seem unintentional (ie paint my residence black, drive an ugly looking car, wear clothes that they would hate, etc.).
So Karen is trying to make her son dumb? Chess is a very smart thing. I'm no good at chess, but my dad is, and he's a smart human, in my opinion.

I have a bunch of ex-boyfriends that are still friends and they're like family to me despite them saying I'm too childish to date and moving on with their lives we still talk and we're still friends so I know for a fact that ex relationships can still be friends and you don't have to sit there and literally end up being in a romantic relationship with someone you dated and you can just talk to them and still be friends as well. I've had quite a few that I've dated and some of them I still talk to for example two that are like a brother to me. Story 3 confused me so much until the OP mentioned their dad wanted them to be a housewife. OP wasn't being treated differently because they were a middle child, but because they were a girl. Makes a big difference, but it still sucks that it happened.

No, from the sounds of it the ex girlfriend was the problem by causing a lot of drama. He did say he can still be friends with his exes without drama, but from the sounds of it he is still very much attached to her despite her causing problems and sticking her nose in their life. Ok... Someone, please explain to me what is wrong with being friends with an ex-boyfriend/girlfriend if left on friendly terms? I can not see how Op is still in love with his ex... A song could represent anything to someone depending on their situation/circumstance, friend or not. He just likes to hang out with his ex just to hang out, and everyone but the girlfriend is fine with it. Truthfully it shouldn't even be an issue. In this case it really sounds like he hasn't gotten over his ex at all, while dating his current gf. Now can people be friends with their ex? 100%. This is just kind of those things where people started normalizing not being friends with your ex even when things have ended amicably/the romance had died out. There are some instances where it should be considered anyways, but that really depends on the relationship

The girlfriend could feel threatened or neglected, and I think that would be cause for a conversation to find balance rather than pointing fingers. I mean i don’t see anything wrong with the behavior either, but it’s possible there’s more info we aren’t seeing.
I *ALSO* know how sometimes toxic partners will try to isolate you. They don’t want you hanging out with anyone but them so you become reliant on them. And again, I don’t have enough info to make a conclusion, but I make that point to say that THINGS CAN BE SO COMPLICATED 😭
I wish communication was more normalized rather than pointing blame. And what confuses me more is when (let’s say you’ve talked about it and just flat out don’t agree) people STAY TOGETHER. Romance is confusing, social etiquette is confusing.
At the end of the day, though, if a relationship isn’t able to work out an issue together I don’t think it will work. Regardless of what people think about being friends with an ex- relationships are built on trust, communication, and love. When one of those goes away, the relationship becomes unstable.

@@DanielGonzalez-qk6sd I'm talking about the narrator's response to the story, not the people in it. His reactions to stories about relationship trouble are almost always a lot more heated than any other type of story, to the point where it's almost a red flag.
The narrator has a bias against exes. You can see it in a lot of other videos. If someone says the OP can’t be friends with an ex, he’ll usually say the OP needs to cut them out their life because they’re not over them. Doesn’t matter if they’re good friends no, apparently you can’t be over someone if they’re still in your life, and ultimatums about who you can be friends with are fine

@@KorilD in isolation it just seems like an individual take but I’ve been on a binge to catch up and noticed whenever the subject of exes comes up, the narrator seems to think that even if the OP and an ex are on good platonic terms, if the new partner says so they need to drop them from their lives. It’s one thing to not cross lines in a relationship, it’s another to ditch friends to placate a new partners insecurity

Last story; my husband was the same way not only with he's ex's but also friends ex's . Well after 4 years of this she called for the last time, I threw the phone at him and said I'm packing up and moving out, it's me or her, needless to say that was over 30 years ago. I changed the ph number the next day and 6 months later we were married. Like I said that was 30 years ago and happy to say we're both very happy still

When I became married to my now ex-wife, I cut off all ties with my ex-fiancé from a few years beforehand (she still talked to me a lot). I never asked my now ex-wife to cut off ties with anyone from her past. All I asked of her regarding past relationships was to not talk about the one guy that had asked her out before me all the time. What husband wants to hear about another guy who had the hots for his wife? Long story short, I found out after 13 years and numerous children that she had been having an affair with the guy, yet somehow I am the bad guy in all of this…

Not in the West, that's for sure. I would speculate that it's a country with a crescent on its flag, a sword on its flag or one of the countries that bear red, white, green and black flags.
You cannot sue anyone for an inheritance that was specifically left to that person named. They need to be grateful you even gave them the amount you did. My one family member is officially not mentioned in the will as mom had given her her share instead of waiting while the principle amount grew over a period of a few years. My other sibling and I kept ours in the G.I.C. certificates because it will grow a great deal over the next few years. She cannot come back to claim anymore, since we chose to invest and she did not. We saw a lawyer and everything we are doing is legal and if she even tries to stir the pot after mom passes, she'll be wasting her money on legal fees because she wont get anywhere. Greedy, entitled family members are the worst kind of people.
Story 1: Yeah, im 100% calling BS that this dumb Karen has a degree of any kind, much less psychology. The OP did absolutely nothing wrong helping that kid out with his chess game and skills and the kid helped out the OP willingly with the end cleaning. Hopefully the OP doesn't have to deal with any more grief from this stupid Karen and the higher-ups tell her to screw off.
Story 2: If i were the OP, i wouldnt have written them any kind of a cheque or anything.. i would've just told them to rack off and cut contact with them. They are very intrusive and don't seem to realize that you're 30, not 19 or something. Its fine that they helped out alot, but the actions at the apartment were totally uncalled for here. Story 3: Before we talk about how horrible the dadis as both a parent and as a human being, i think we all need to give very high praise to all of the brothers here, especially Matt and Kyle. They did so much to help and support the OP here through all the crap the dad did, and they are major heroes here. Also, good points for the mom for divorcing the dad too. As for the dad, what a piece of crap. So glad he is in jail for his DUI and hopefully the OP and all the brothers disown him for everything. All the treatment was bad enough, but wanting to just marry her off to a co-worker? What the hell is wrong with him? Hopefully everyone cuts him out and permanently.
Story 4: No way is the OP a jerk here. The other siblings cut off the dad, until he was super sick. If that doesnt scream that they were only coming back for money and assets, then i dont know what will. The dad was right to leave everything to the OP as a sole benefactor, and the OP already gave them 15K each 4 years ago, which is WAY more then they deserve. If the siblings keep threatening to sue, i would keep reminding them of the payout the already got and the words of the will, and if that doesn't work, then maybe OP needs to counter-sue for harassment.
Story 5: Yeah it really sounds like the OP hasn't let go of the ex-gf at all here. While it is possible for ex's to be amicable and friendly, but this is crossing a number of lines and boundaries here, and i really think the OP needs to wake up and realize this before his current gf gets upset enough and leaves. I get it can be hard to let go of certain people in your life, but this is a case where it really needs to happen.

People shouldn't have to choose between friends and girlfriends or boyfriends. If they don't like your friend group then they don't have to be a part of it or they can just leave because honestly it's your choice who you want to be friends with.

We can’t be friends there’s no way that we can be friends. and if my partner is friends with his exes, he just won’t be my partner anymore. Okay on the last story I completely disagree with what the host is saying because I am literally friends with some of my ex's and we used to be friends beforehand and we still talk and stuff and I have a boyfriend currently but I am currently taking a break from the situation because he's always checking with his mom for Stuff before doing it and stress but there's no issues between me and my boyfriend and honestly you can still stay friends with ex lovers just as long as you aren't doing anything really flirty or anything and on top of that if you're relationship with your current boyfriend or girlfriend is fine and they're aware of everything too then there shouldn't be any problems! Feel free to correct me, but it seems that the problem with the last post is that he's failing to see the context of the relationship between him and his ex. Normally sending music and stuff is ok but the main problem is it's the ex, a person you already had a romantic relationship. And that's the problem. Anyone else would be fine, but the fact that it's the ex makes the context of the relationship change and makes it look like you are still attached. Not to mention the quote 'this reminds me of you' doesn't help. If you did things that we're so, for lack of a better word, couply then then context would change.
