Very informative, especially the cold starting sequence.
Thanks for taking the time making this!

Amazing video. Thank you for taking the time to upload it. I will spend the weekend trying to revive one of these, let's see how it goes!

Well explained. And very well questioned. Well done. Loved it.

Brilliant thanks! The number of times we have manually cranked our engine without flipping that lever up 🙈

I have the same engine in my boat and this has been hugely useful, and I’m in Largs 😀

Good video. I have the same engine but RWC. Do you or any viewers know if the pencil zinc has both ends threaded or just the plug end? Mine has threads only at the plug end. Seems hard to have to screw into a threaded fitting on the opposite end. One video said to just cut off the far end if too long, nothing about threaded ends. Thanks.

You guys still running this engine? I'm trying to locate where the "start/stop" control cable connects to the engine. Trying to bench start same engine and can't figure out the cold start "feature"

Holy Smokes at the yeah/yes! At one point 12 words were spoken and 6 of them were yes/yeah. Quite annoying.
Wonderful explanation once I shut the sound off and read the wording. THANKS!

Anyobody know how to drain and replace the coolant on this bad boy?
I’ve got this very model on a beneteau with very poor access.
I’m pretty sure I’ve felt the block drain on the bottom left, but for the life of me can’t find the valve.
Many thanks to the kind soul who can help this brother out before Canadian winter starts!!!

Hi David, can you tell why you removed the motor? ta

Pete, the engine mounts were shot so rather than replacing those we decided to replace the whole engine while we had the time and resources

Hi - I have a VP2002 in my yacht - motor is raw-water cooled but overall in a similar condition to yours (cosmetically)
How many hours did you have on your VP2002?
And why did you remove the VP from your boat?

    • @davidshipkiss

Not sure how many hours it had I'm afraid - the rev counter / hours meter were not working when we bought her

Check that you’ve bled the system properly and you’ve used the lift pump to prime the fuel.

    How old was that diesel?

I understand Volvo stopped making the Penta 2002 circa 1982, so I’m guessing roughly 35-40 years old.
