The switch from controller to kbm is rough and I needed this. Been playing since week 1 of fortnite on my ps4. I switched to pc and I was very happy no build was introduced, learning to build again seemed impossible. It's still very difficult, especially with the new movement making everything feel slower and more clunky. Last week I couldn't full box myself quickly, we gettin there.
Thank you for your videos. I have always been really bad at fortnite and have just recently been trying to get better. Taking all the advice from this channel, over the past two weeks I have actually made crazy progress in the game I’ve never even thought of making before. It takes time and don’t expect it to come easy. My advice for people like me are follow this guys tips and watch his videos and also play creator made maps to practice even just for a small amount because it can do wonders! Thank you soo much!!!
bro that automated part helped be alot cause now i realise thats when i just do anything i either think too hard or dont think at all and thats when i play my best
I’ve recently discovered you/your channel! Im 33 (boomer) and trying to get back into fortnite. It’s very hard to compete with everyone nowadays! Your videos are giving me things to think about and practice in order to improve! You go into detail and show the different scenarios step by step in a bunch of your videos, and that’s helping me heaps! Keep up the videos mate! Loving the content!!! 🎉❤
I'm 48 and find myself outmatched pretty much all the time. Coach Zykoma really knows what he's talking about. Some of them of his videos I've watched about 100 times to not only hear what he's saying but to actually master a specific thing. My advice, watch and rewatch his videos. If you can, get private coaching.
Great video, I completely agree with the entire video. I've really improved in the last few seasons to the point where I was winning games in unreal rank and most the steps I took were in the video
bro makes the videos for the specific things i need and exactly when i need them, i been loving these vids since i found them thanks for your hard work mate
I literally just applied this to my gameplay and was almost instantly able to see results. I wanted to build a habit of cone sliding when taking walls, so i went into boxfights for a few hours really focusing on specifically doing it. Initially I was forced to play so much slower than usual and got punished more, since I am used to placing my cone/ramp after editing the wall. Slowly I started to get the hang of it, and when I was playing ranked with my friend a bit later, I realized I was killing some people using cone slides without thinking about it. Obviously cone sliding isn't something too crazy hard to build a habit for, so other things may take a lot longer, but being able to see results within a day of playing is still goes to show powerful this method of improving is. Also small side note, but I used to mainly play competitive overwatch before falling in love with fortnite, and one of the smartest professional coaches named Spilo preaches the exact same things Zykoma talks about in this video.
Amazing video! I just wanna say a great way i've learned to break bad-habits fast is to significantly over correct. Say for example I dont focus on the opponent. I would do nothing BUT focus on them, what they're doing l, all that stuff. I would just let my builds, edits and aim all go on auto-pilot while i spent all of my mental energy focusing on the opponent. Of course, when doing this i'll lose horribly, probably even worse than before, because of how un-balanced my mental is, but that bad habit will, at least in my experience, be gone in a week or at most 2 weeks. Its important not just fall back into your old habits after this, a great way to this is to slowly re-incorperate the other mechs back into your mental stack (if you dont already have it completely on auto pilot). If done properly, you'll end up with a good habit replacing your bad one.
Recently something just clicked for me, and im a solo demon out of nowhere i used to lose many fights in solos and blame it on my fps and ping because i was great in creative but i realised it was just being aware over my enemy and focusing and predicting every move just like i did in creative i was fighting like a goat yesterday but sadly didnt get island points 3 times so i didnt even qual because i got cocky and landed on mythic shotgun with 0 map knowledge and felt short in opens i can just imagine how early i would have become a better solo fighter if i actually vod reviewed or found this bad habit earlier we go again today i got a good feeling.
I find it very interesting how applicable the same mindset and strategies are in different other areas you'd like to improve or even master. Most of the points you mentioned I've been applying in business and marketing where I'm way more experienced and gifted than Fortnite :). Even things like 'overbuilding' which may seem non-related. Gosh, if I had a penny for every time when I couldn't squeeze out of a business person or top management a simple answer to why they choose to do/invest in certain things, what problem are they ACTUALLY trying to solve with it... most are clueless and do stuff because they've seen someone else doing it (competitors? influencers?) and start applying it mindlessly. As a result, the impact is either insignificant or what's even worse leads to just wasted resources (time of staff, money). And, I could go on and on... the more I think about it, the more I realise how similar the path of success in FN is to the path of success in pretty much anything. Thanks for another awesome video, Zykoma. Much appreciated.
@@rain3.y thank you for your kind words. He'll be even luckier when I become a decent player, haha. But on a serious note, I feel very blessed to have my children and I know they grow up and separate eventually. My daughter is already 19 and she's living in another continent. While modern technology allows us to keep in touch over the Internet, it is not the same thing. So, I try my best to spend what time I have with my son while he's still around us.
its weird in creative I'm very calm and can identify different things abt my opponent (whether they have a cone in their box, what guns they have, which direction their looking etc) but when Im in ranked or tournaments I'm not confident (because I don't want to lose my rank) and my mind just races and I'm slightly nervous/tense and don't play to the ability that I know I can
The key to this is really just repetition. Put yourself in more situations where the games matter to you. Low wager games ($1-$5) and scrimmages are both great options for this. The only way you're going to get past those jitters is exposing yourself to that type of situation more often.
im a bit confused if you know anything about it alot of the clips are in lofs newiest montage is he just talking over his montage or claiming its his or vise versa
Your channel is a gem, I just discovered it and sent it to all friends. I just have a question, is having 40-70 ping a HUGGGE problem? Should I just quit? I'll be happy if you make a video about everything that can be done within this ping range (fighting style, mechanics etc..)😊
40-70 ping is tough to play with but you will need to make a style/discover a style that you can easily use and win fights and also try one of those apps that lower your ping to help you out
Yeah pretty much but that shouldn’t be all your mind is on. It should be clear most of the time, thinking only of what’s happening currently and not stressing about what’s going to happen.
The problem with this season is the piss poor performance. I can give a ton of effort and even be unreal already with a 3 kd. Can’t even gain advantages off of peanut butter edits or hardly any peak for that matter cause my fps is dropping a ton this season.
It’s actually super easy u jus wanna want it yesterday I had 63 points in two games and didn’t play my rest and not qual cause I got no passion I didn’t want it but it’s sooo easy to be amazing just takes a lot of mental I couldn’t do it I get high n play n das it ion got no passion
Zykoma I was wondering what are you meant to do when the other person is weak and they just crank, cos I can’t get above them and they always hit me so it’s even again.
I underbuild, I ask myself why do I need to build here and often can't think of a good enough reason then end up dying with stacked mats. When I stopped caring about conserving mats I actually preform way better. Also with these mobile builds it's extremely difficult to have good awareness of what my opponent is doing for me. Not sure how to improve that.
7:35 2V2 Moment, we have 4 medallions 2 per person, 3-4 mythics captured by killing everyone, teamate gets downed my fall dmg by accident, I heal him and use a medkit to get to the highest hp possible (92 hp after) makes 1 person weak and somehow I die 3 seconds later to storm (I was still 2 tick)
Plan automatically= learning a skill to an unconscious competence. There is an amazing book on this called "thinking fast and slow" by Daniel Cayman. Our brain is most efficient at learning a skill well enough our slow brain doesnt have to put energy into it, so we can use that part of our brain for other skills, like applying a strategy or scanning for threats.
Ive been playing for so long im on ps4 and it is holding me back so hard. I feel like i can do everything in this vid and the insane delay on ps4 just doesnt let me play how i want, i cant even feel safe picaxing a box because i cant use reactions to instantly shoot the enemy or bilds the moment they edit
zykoma can you tell me what im doing wrong i have so much earnings in tokens but i got play a solo victory cup and just cant win got 4 2nds 4th place and 3rd place so many times i cant figure out what im doing wrong twice i got second because my heals didnt pop its like its just not for me

I last till top 5 then I end up dying somehow, I focused my training mainly around realistically, and zone wars, with aim and edit training. Any tips to help me seal the deal?
Like he said in the video figure out why you keep dying, is it because of mats, health, bad positioning or even trying to force the win and playing too aggressive if it’s a repeating thing you can focus and practice on it
Recently I've been playing zero build ranked and now whenever I lose and I lose alot I tried to think about why I lost and then I try to fix it.
