- Video 1 of an exiting series cataloging the restoration of a 1964 FC M-677 Jeep. This video is an introduction to the current and many problems with the vehicle (Triage), an overview of the grand plans I have during the restoration, and a short discussion of the issues I anticipate encountering (pitfalls).
Great video, Tucker!! Thanks for making it! You asked us to guess which engine you will be installing. My first guess is a new Cummins 2.8 crate engine. My second guess is a Cummins 4BT! I haven't yet watched the video where you speak about the new engine so my guesses are genuine!! I'm looking forward to following this build. It's going to be epic!
Thanks for Watching! Very good guesses! You will see in the later video that the 2.8 cummins is definitely a top contender! Not going to spoil it for you though. Hope you enjoy. going to be a long adventure!
You have a challenge ahead , it’s clearly a labor of love as it doesn’t make sense any other way .
Being a rare example goes a long ways to why , Pretty sure I have never seen another .
Put a last gen vw diesel in it. Those engines are great. Smooth as a gas motor and minimal turbo lag. 140hp stock.
Never seen or heard of this vehicle.
kuddos for even considering salvage this piece! Unless you're completely crazy.
Ha! maybe a bit of the latter?? lol. it's just sheet metal, how hard can it be??? famous last words...
I got a 59 fc170 that sat in a field for 20 years and I drove it out
Nice! Do you have any videos or photos you can share on youtube or the Facebook FC page?
I like the military tail lights and turn siginals
Me too! I definitely intend to keep those, with maybe some modern LED internals and stuff to make them more visible with today's distracted drivers.
4BT? That's the engine I would have looked for to put in ours if I didn't have the 4.0 already.
Good Guess! The 4BT is certainly a popular option for these trucks and is on my list for comparison. Definitely some pros and cons with it - however, the weight and noise are pretty big detractors on an FC swap.
Check out my third video where I evaluate 10 engines (including the 4BT), by the numbers, and reveal my selected engine
@@deltadrivedesigns I only see two videos, this one and one you just posted.
A 4bt cummins would be great
I’d do a Kabota diesel.
It needs a sbc possible ls swap
crazy place for a radiator hahaha thats original? that´s a very strange/cool daily driver in my point of view. a lot of work, but it will catch more views than a lambo or whatever hahaha
Toyota 4runner pwr steering gearbox is almost a bolt on
is it?? Tell me more! does it use the existing pitman arm and linkages or does it require something different?
Um... more not so helpful helper Sydney please!
Boring
