Get a NW species. Besides GBB, a Brachy, Aphonapelma or Grammostola (IOW, a "Pet Rock, or Teddy Bear T) should get you over any fear. GBB's are great, and far more interesting, but are much faster and tend to bolt. Just make sure it doesn't get away! LOL.

I would've picked the A. geniculata as number one. I have never seen an A. genic of any size use a hide or make a burrow. Mine even molt right out in the open. It's the only species I can count on to be out and about to show off to visitors, and it's always down for a feeding performance, too. (I just wish I could clean their water bowls without getting attacked, haha.)
Unfortunately, my C. elegans is almost always in her burrow and doesn't like coming out. Same with my C. versicolor. :(

came to the comments to say A.geniculata. Looks fantastic, impressive size and mine is super curious, always calmly comes to the front of it's tank to watch people watching it which is a bit of crowd pleaser for those who are curious about them. Absolutely a pleasure to own, even when it goes mental over it's dinner, chews up everything I put in the tank and fights me for the water bowl.

Now I can't stop thinking about it. 😨 Phobia aside, I hope hobbyists who love these animals could help with preserving some of the species that are vulnerable or endangered in the wild. Most countries, including the Philippines, don't exactly have ample time and budget for wildlife preservation so maybe the passionate people with the means can provide help with the solution. Great video and I realize this is a opinion too 10. But I don't think I would have chosen your number 1. IMO I don't think the T. blondi is at all pretty. Yes it's has a huge size but for me colors are more impressive than size.
My number 1 would probably be Aphonopelma mooreae.

It’s probably better than in person, since we’d need magnifying glasses to see so much detail in person. But I’d like to see them in person because I want to hold some of the friendly ones. 😆

Every1 are gonna choose something diffrent, bcs tastes are like a "butt" everyone has it. :) So, i just wanted to say, he said like 10 times it's his list. Later I got myself a Phormictopus Sp. Green Gold Carapace instead of P. Auratus. Golden spiders have this "something" that makes them interesting.

Even if Ts do go down into their burrows it will also be because they are getting ready to molt and they need to have privacy and safety. My Curly Hair used to be more out and about and very active, but now she's in her cork bark cabin(aka hide, cave) and she's closed up shop lol. its clear she is preparing for her premolt. I been learning about the premolt signs from FB T groups and of course through youtube channels on T husbandry. So the only time she will hide is when she has a premolt coming up and wants some privacy. Thats my girl! :) doing what Ts do best. And before then, using macro lens on my iphone to take some photos of her is absolute amazing!! Curlys have got gorgeous fine hairs that make macro lens soo fun to have and use! All the details are awesome! So when out and about, Curlys are my top fav display buddy :))

Great vid! Also, all five of my T‘s were on this list or mentioned, haha. I remember watching this and other vids to help me decide which ones to get, wonder who had the biggest influence... in the end I got a GBB, Salmon Pink (LP), Hamorii/smithi?, Caribena versicolor and (didnt make the list, but was mentioned) G.rosea, all as little slings. Very happy with them and your videos are a really great place to come to for good structured information. the 2 different people I bought my Ts from also recommended your channel. We’re from Germany! And lots of people here are still not really into english speaking channels, so that says something as well!

My g pulchra is out more than any other T. She is always walking around and when I open the enclosure she just slowly walks over towards the open door but never bolts. If I touch anything near her. Like taking out her water dish she will reach out her front legs so gently and just touches my hand or finger. She's never kicked hairs and I've had her since she was a 1/2in sling. Her name is Cujo.

Wondering if anyone can help, looking into possibly getting a terrantula, but can't find anything online on what to do with the crickets if your terrantula refuses to eat, I know to remove them after so long to prevent harm to your spider, but what are you meant to do with the cricket? Sorry if this seems a silly question. 😬

    Notes for anyone.
Avics are easy to kill as slings. They just drop dead for no reason.
Also Chaco Gold Knee is a bit mardy. Mine runs off from it's crickets.
I don't like my Salmon Pink. Not at all chilled. Aggressive, charges at me, hair flicks habitually. A bit annoying.
Indian Ornamentals I had were always out and stunning. My favourite T.
Chile Rose are hugely underated. Great behavioural changes. Loads of fun and the rose colour hair on its head looks great. Always on display.
