    I'm curious as to why Sony elected to remove the fiber optic/Toslink port off of their new soundbars? Also, did the Theater Bar 9 get reduced down to one HDMI pass-through port from the two that were on the A7000? If so, why did they do that?

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  3 дня назад

      I did ask about the pass-through. They said that you can plug a XSX into the TV and it will talk to the soundbar via eARC. And then a PS5 to the soundbar and it will talk to the TV via eARC. So that's how they reckon you get 2x pass-through. Hmmm?
      As for fibre optic, feel like this is becoming and outdated port for them with the focus on Acoustic Link.

    What are your thoughts on the theater Quad with SA-SW5 vs Theater Bar 9 with SA-SW5 and SA-RS5? They both support the 360 spatial mapping but you can get the bar 9 combo a little cheaper

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  17 дней назад

      Yeah it's a good question, and may depend a lot on your space. In a smaller room, I'm not sure you'd get the benefit of the Quad as much as you would in a bigger space where the TB9 needs to work harder to get sound bouncing around.
      Soundbar also gives you the passthrough and port for game consoles.
      The Quad means you don't have to have this giant thing in front of your TV.
      Hmmm.... close call. Possibly Quads as the 360 is just more accurate, but they're both going to sound great.

    Do these sound bars come with treble and bass control. I have the B9 75in was thinking to grab one of these bars. I have a Sonos arc now and it’s totally unreliable at this point.

      @motivatedtravel  11 дней назад +1

      Not too sure actually. He briefly brought up the menu on screen to show how you can adjust the soundbar through the TV, and I didn't pick up on an EQ in there. But you'd have to think so, right?
      What's proving unreliable about your Arc. I've been using an Arc and it's been going ok.

    What are your thoughts on the speaker systems on Bravia 9, 8 and 7? I have the first gen HT-A9 with SA-SW5 and am considering the 83" A80L to improve center chanel clarity but that is super pricey here in the US. From what I understand the Bravia 8 OLED has the Acoustic Surface Audio+ with speakers directly behind the TV panel which I think is superior to the MiniLED Bravia 9 and 7. I am confused with how Sony advertises their Acoustic Multi Audio+ and AM Audio on the B9 and B7. B9 claims to have frame speakers but I don't see anything on the side panel while you can clearly see side speaker slots on the B7 (The LED prevents you from adding speakers behind the panel). Is the B7 speaker placements identical to B9s except the upfiring rear speakers slots on the B9? My opinion is they are NOT the same.

      All good questions. I have not been able to test the three TVs individually and just with TV sound - at the event that were hooked up to theatre bars. That said, I can give you the spec breakdown.
      Bravia 7 - 40W 2 channel, derived from two 10W sound positioning tweeters and two 10W X-Balanced speakers. Uses Acoustic Multi-Audio.
      Bravia 8 - 56W 2.1 channel, derived from two 10W sound positioning tweeters, two 13W accentuators and one 10W subwoofer. Uses Acustic Surface Audio+.
      Bravia 9 - 70W 2.2.2 channel, derived from two 10W frame tweeters, two 5W beam tweeters, two 10 Mid Range speakers and two 10W subwoofers. Uses Acoutsic Multi-Audio+.
      So, depsite looking the same the make-up is significant. They all use the same Acoustic Centre Sync 2.
      Hope that helps.

      @motivatedtravel - Yea. The specs are listed on their website as well. There has to be different designs in the sound positioning tweeters placements between the B7 and B8 because one is MiniLED and the other OLED. I need to do a little research to see if the B7 shares the same audio platform as its predecessors X93L and X95L and figure it out that way. 🤔

    How much difference in sound quality is the 8s to the 9s?

    • @motivatedtravel
      @motivatedtravel  17 дней назад +2

      Significant for sure as it has two additional passive radiators for deeper bass. Plus beam tweeters that create a more believable 3D effect. It also depends on what it is paired with. The Bravia 9 has more speakers itself (than the Bravia 7, say), and it adds to the whole ecosystem of sound.
