If it’s real dirty u can warm up the pot: about 1 minute on the stove and spray with FUMED oven cleaner. Let set overnight and clean with an SOS pad and barkeepers friend!
@@margaretellis4784 never has hurt mine! I have cleaned tons of them. Something else that works great is to put discolored baking pans and Pampered Chef pans in the cleaning cycle of your stove! They come out looking brand new in my stove! Takes a while, like the 4-5 hr cycle but it worked. I don’t suggest ever leaving it running if you leave the house. Don’t spray them with anything either. Doing this in the cooler season is good since it heats your house up!
I learned from Kat, the Nurse Flipper ...who learned from Kayla, Homeschooling Picker to use a Dremel Versa for dirtier items. I also learned from Stevensteph to use a rubber mallet to take out dings in cookware.
I got my 1st Revereware pan to sell today at a thrift store for $1. Looked up on RUclips and found your video. I just had to say, that when you rinsed the bottom of the pan off, I squealed out loud with excitement. I was 5 seconds away from scrubbing it with an sos pad, SO glad I didn't! Finding the pan made my day, but so did this video lol seriously! Thanks for sharing your tips, it is appreciated and I'm going to check out more of your videos! Happy thrifting!
I have two of my mother’s RW pots from when she got married in 1950. One has the double rings. The other, everything has been scrubbed off, but for a few faint letters and numbers. I’m not much of a cook and have come so close to throwing them away over the years after having 1/4 inch caked on burnt gunk (several times). Most of it has come off with BKF but the one still looks terrible with black spots stained inside. I’ve tried everything. I’m 70 so will just continue to use them as is. 🤷♀️
Just wanted to say thank you. I googled how to restore copper pan & your’s was 1st RUclips video. You nailed it. I’ll be posting on the copper cooking & cleaning subreddit channels if I can figure out how to show before & after. I’ll be giving you credit.
I know this is an old video, but I wanted to say that any pot with those two screws on the handle is probably from the 50's. They only made them for a few years, then went to the modern design they have today. I have some pots I got from thrift stores where the logo is completely worn away, but I scrubbed and scrubbed them with BKF and couldn't finally see part of the "under process". Sometimes if the bottom has been burned badly, the copper will melt and the logo will be destroyed. I've found pans by the side of the road in trash piles that were so blackened and burnt, it was pathetic. It took awhile, but I got all of that black off the bottom and most of the staining out of the inside. BKF is amazing.
Just hesitantly picked up a box of 5 Revere wear at a GS for 5 bucks. They look old and have what looks like brass handles. I will be trying this out. Thanks!
Hey Mountain Man, we use the same method to bring that copper bottom back to life. I thought about doing a video like yours but our sink is rarely clean enough to film. 😂 Hope you had a blast in Vegas, take care!
I Scored a 2qt saucepan with lid at Goodwill for $2.09 it’s a pre 1968 with double ring like yours and was halfway burnt bottom lots of elbow grease with the barkeepers friend and shiny and pretty just have to give the handle and knob a spit shine they’re a bit dull. I’m keeping this pan for myself nice addition to my kitchen.
I have a whole box to clean.... ugh! I know it doesn't take long but it's probably 15 pans or so and I tend to go for the things that are easiest to list first. So it sits....
If it says Patent Pending, that's the pre-1941 version, which has almost double the amount of copper. They are a much higher quality and should sell for more. The double ring logo is between 1941-1968. The single ring is post 1968, which the thickness of the stainless and the copper were again reduced. Instead of Barkeeper's Friend, I use sea salt and a lemon cut in half to scrub the copper bottom if it needs freshening up. My set came from my mother and has never been used harshly, unlike those you're finding. Misusing or damaging Mother's good pans would've resulted in dire consequences for me and my siblings! 😂
@@MountainManTreasure I just today found 5 skillets (6, 7, 8, 9 & 10") for $24 total! Insides have some baked on & perhaps chinks in the metal. Is that safe now?
This is great method but the BKF is abrasive and weaken the copper that why it’s look hazy , use none abrasive oil base metal polish and you will see the real copper color. I learned my lesson from a copper cookware collector
I sprinkled that same powder onto my pot and it immediately turned black everywhere. Any idea why? I immediately rinsed it, but it took some scrubbing to come off. :( Edited to add: I did that BEFORE watching your video, btw. Not your fault. :) I mean, it wouldn’t be anyway but, you know. :)
Silly how modern folks fail to realize the copper will always oxidize, with the first heating; darker is the normal state, this unnatural reddish hue is futile. Use heavy duty degreasers or carbon removing pan cleaners to take off the actual burned on gunk, but don't waste time trying to get a factory new appearance.

I have some that are black and j have struggled to get them clean. I was afraid to use an SOS but I guess I will try. Thanks
Does the oven cleaner hurt the stainless steel part of the pan?

Thank you very much. Very helpful!
Best and most simple Revere wear cleaning video. Thank you! 🧡

Great info. Always good to see a guy washing dishes. Lol
Agreed! Love watching a man wash dishes lol
Yeah im sure 😂
Love love love barkeepers friend! As you said it’s also super at getting silverware marks off cups bowls and dishes.

Thanks!
Thanks for the ring tip!

Enjoyed it!! Thanks for the Tips!!
Thanks Troy ! I didn't know about the double ring & I have one. 🙂
Nice! Be sure to put Double Ring in your listing and Pre-1968
Nice I just scored 3 skillets with the double ring for $40
Just bought bar keepers friend for my bathtubs. Was told it works great.
Great stuff. Thanks.
Great day everyone I hit an awesome church sale earlier today
I love a good church sale!
Fancy trick thank you🎉
Love the stuff and you know how much I cook
Also great for fiberglass bath floors that get hard water stains
Hi Troy, Love Bar Keepers! TFS ✌

I've used my Revereware for 50 years - is it valuable? I've kept it nice.
Possibly, though the demand and prices for much of it seemed to peak mid Covid

I use vinegar and salt to clean mine, just did one today
That looks like easy money. 💲
Sweet

Yep, shiney bottoms always sell better. LOL
Tomato juice, sauce or anything tomato will bring the copper brilliance back almost immediately with no scratching. Vinegar works great too.
Will this also take care of crud inside the pots/skillets?
I’d guess it wouldn’t hurt … might take a bit more elbow grease though

👍🏻 excellent.
Missed the live. Sorry
5001!!!!way to go.
the rings? the rings around the silhouette? all of mine have two rings i have about 9 of them.
Yup!

So I think I scrubbed the logo off mine. :( it’s shiny but I can barely see Paul!
If he’s seeable, at least you can prove it is revere ware, anyway! Lots more people catching on to revere but it does still move
I have those in my kitchen only mine says clinton Ill.
The original factory was in Canton, MA. They opened a plant in California in 1949 and then Clinton, Ill. in 1950

Have never heard that before!
Will the Bar Keepers Friend work on the stainless as well? Or just the copper portions?
I’d worry maybe about it being abrasive and scratching the stainless
Yes, you can use Barkeepers friend on stainless. I use it on All Clad, Made In, etc and Revere Ware.
PAUL Revere Right?
Yup! He actually had sheets of copper that they used to line the bottom of ships. After he died, his family began to use it on the pots and pans
