Quick Note: technically you don't even need Bujinki Ahashima to make a Toad with 2 Swaps, you can simply summon a Swap, dump another Swap and then Link Summon a Spright Elf without using the Swap on the field. The Elf then revives another Swap and that makes Toad. Same thing really, just forces you to spend the Elf revive on Swap, the end board still ends up being weaker due to bodies missing because of Ronin
One thing to note is that once we get Spright Sprin next month, you can get enough fodder on board to summon Gigantic into Swap and be able to make an elf without Swap. Sprind can send Nimble Angler which gives you 2 free beavers.
I think the long form videos of technical play and competitive ideas for deck builds is what will distinguish you from most of the other big yugitubers. You have the same charisma as them, but with more competitive knowledge or at least you are willing and eloquently able to share that knowledge. Keep doing these videos if you can please.
I would absolutely love to see this kind of breakdown for other/rogue decks! Your metagame analysis and deck breakdowns are both very clear and concise and very useful for understanding a pro perspective. Not a lot of other yugitubers have this kind of insight or ability to present that information as well as you.
I think another perk of the Live Twin Variant is that it can use Dagda+Scythe. Live Twin was always able to abuse it pretty effectively whilst running a compact engine with a bunch of hand traps, but the main thing is it always needs the extender to get you there. Which Spright fulfills perfectly.
Awesome video, congrats on 10k subs. Dark beckoning engine is something worth experimenting with. Capshell is a 0 Atk/Def Fiend, so you can either use the double normal from Beckoning for it or revive it using Opening of the spirit gates. Someone said this already but Beckoning is a one card (+discard) toad. I would love to see a video like this about tearlament. I've been kinda struggling to understand tear and as a spright player myself, hearing your ecplanation of the deck would be extremely helpful. Thank you und auf wiedersehen :)
The problem I have with Spright now is that your bad hands with only Gigantic access no longer end on a meaningful board and even if you still play the Toad, you need to run 2 Swaps, which are complete bricks and do nothing by themselves. You do not see such hands very often, but if handtraps indeed see more play than power spells, making a Spright board will become that much harder. I would also love to see your analysis on Tearlament and its builds and even a discussion on which other decks could realistically stand a chance in the upcoming meta. While I personally play Tearlaments, I am not sure I would love to play the deck everyone tries to hard-counter. Mirror matches are completely toxic with Dweller being a thing and Ishizu cards coming out in a month or so make it even more toxic. The earth fairies are even level 4...
Don't worry about the video being long, this was the best breakdown of spright variants I've seen and I would have loved to see some of the less optimal lines being shown.
I haven't been playing IRL (nor too much virtually except on Master Duel perhaps) for a long time but I have tired to keep myself updated and your content is one of the best out there (been following your decklists drom top YCS before you wen on RUclips and you already had a very pedagogic way to describe your choices). Your competitive approach gives us more insight on what we need to fear from other decks (like dweller, eradicator or shifter) in a way that most player that don't have an informative circle can't know that much in advance (even though erad and spell canceller are pretty well known quantities now). Having multiple way to play a deck also mean we can adapt with our playing style (saw a goof top that was playing pure tear and just said in an interview that he just didn't understand how to make danger tear work so that was his choice ^^) which is great. A tear version of this would be absolutely amazing especially since the mirror match will probably become the focus of Tear as Spright was somewhat hindered (and I rememeber you saying that this match up was kinda cursed).
100% please make the 25 minute bangers. Hearing the thought process and reasoning for specific additions and cuts is extremely helpful especially on a more open ended deck like spright where several variations exist!
Deine Streams sind einfach überragend. Vielen Dank für die gute Hilfe und die tollen Erklärungen in den Videos. Für mich bist Du seit Jahren einer der besten Spieler weltweit. Ich freu mich auf Utrecht! Yugioh❤
I’m never able to catch your streams live but I do keep up with the VODs and I noticed when discussing the Melffy Engine your chat was leading you down some bad paths you can play just a Catty and Pinny in your deck to give you an arc light line. You special summon the Catty off of gigantic, then when your opponent summons a monster you use it’s effect to add Pinny to hand. Pinny’s effect allows you to summon using Melffy monsters in hand so using itself and the Catty you can make an arc light. It does require you to play the brick of Pinny but opening it doesn’t stop your combo it just takes a card out of your hand. If you open the Catty it can special summon itself from hand to open up your gigantic to summon a different card from deck. Love the Content though, keep up the great work ❤
Congrats on the 10k. You deserve it and so much more. Your videos are really making me enjoy comp yugioh again. Since pote, i really have a rough time enjoying metagameplay and your videos really help me finding at least a bit of fun in the current format. Keep up the great videos. Much love
Thank you for the runick spright deck. I played nib with veiler and imperm in flex spots to help check the combo decks going second. You can pop the token with flashing fire or spin it with unicorn to get rid of it. I also play avramax in the extra deck which makes him nearly unkillable with the runick cards protecting him. I love the versatility of the deck, I love ipiria summon off the gigantic or revived off elf sometimes to just draw stupid amounts of cards.
Great video as always, Ive been trying the live twin version and making scythe or iblee and it makes the deck feel complete. I really like it the best out of the current versions. You can even make beat cop as well to protect iblee from crashing.
This video rocked! I think a video that I'd like to see in the future is talking about the unbanned cards more in detail what they entail for the meta.
i think everybody would be happy to see some takes on rogue decks and not always the tier 1 decks. i for example am looking for a way to play naturia, but im to lazy to test for hours and i think most of the viewers are like me and we all would be happy so see a good take on our loved decks.
Really nice video, I love the breakdown the way you show not only the list but also some gameplay and talk about alternatives. I would love to see it for tear and other tier 2 deck like swordsoul and despia. Have a nice day
Like the theory behind each build. With Sprind on the horizon, in my testing, it puts a lot more pressure back into the deck that it lost with Ronin - currently playing an Adventurer build with Nimble Beaver/Angler. Puts up 3 negates (Toad w/Elf & Gryphon) and typically a Smashers in the back row
Cratzs on the 10k sub, and super nice and informative video helps alot of players which is not super competetive but still wanna play good decks or learn about them. Could be cool to see tear and rouge decks or upcoming decks maybe dragon link with byssted or the best byssted version deck
these are very insightful videos. however i think i will be sticking with the Dark beackoning Beast engine. to only is it a one card combo that makes toad, but it also leaves up extra bodies to go into djinn buster as well. the engine is very consistent. my only concern with spright right now is that it wont have the ability to break down boards. spright always had this issue but it is even more so now.
@@trungangxuan7348 certainly, for the purposes of showing off what the engine can do, this combo will only take the DBB engine into account and not the spright monsters, although the spright monsters can help extend into some other fantastic boards. step 1: Normal dark beackoning beast and add Spirit gate, then activate spirit gate and add a second dark beackoning beast. then normal summon the second one. step 2: make gigantic spright using both the dark beackoning beast's, and use it's effect to special summon swap frog from the deck by detaching a dark beackoning beast, then use swap frogs Effect to send a second swap frog to the GY. step 3: activate the effect of spirit gate to discard 1 card and special summon the previously detached dark beackoning beast. use the dark beackoning beast and Gigantic Spirght to Link summon Spright elf. Step 4: activate spright elf to summon the second swap frog from the GY and XYZ summon into Toadally awsome. with this combo, dark beakoning beast is essentially a on card combo given that you have a discard. if you do open other spright monsters such as blue, you easily extend Number 65: Djinn buster, sky cavalry Ceturia, or any Rank 2 needed for the situation. Something special is going on here, that’s for sure. The variant I wanna bring more attention to is the world chalice. Lib is a crazy broken link 2. Kind of replacing the roll of toad in spright, but allowing for more proactive removal as well. Needs a couple more main deck slots for the spells/traps which takes away from more flex spots. Runick seems to have some cool, smooth synergy in the deck also. Just an interesting variant that I cannot find any info on anywhere. Interested on your thoughts
Great video Josh! A lot of insight! What do you think of teching the one Gale Dogra to summon Winda on opponents turn? . Seems like a decent ceiling for a single card you bring with gigantic. Thanks again for the video!
What are you thoughts on Live Twin Runick Spright? I tested this version and it felt really good. Out of 20 hands I had: - 0 bricks - 13x a board with elf, toadally and ki-sikil (and out of these 13 hands I also had smashers 7 times) - 7x a board with elf and toadally (2 out of these with smashers) However, I played it with 3 swap frogs and a total of 45 cards in my deck. At first I thought that the deck would be less consistent because of the 5 extra cards but it turned out very good. Maybe I was just lucky after all tho Would like to hear what you think about this version :) Keep up the great work!
Have you tested out the adventure version yet? It’s the version I ran prior to trying out the power spell version n I really liked it. What are your opinions on it?
I only briefly looked at it in the new format yet. It wasn‘t my favorite version before the banlist and im not sure why that should have changed, but I will reconsider it moving forward and maybe try some on stream
Terrific video as always Josh! It's a very awkward time to be playing Spright. Not only because the best engine has been weakened but also because Darkwing Blast is only three weeks away. Sprind and Double Cross are going to warp how the deck is played. Question: How much have you messed with the Dark Beckoning Beast engine as your primary normal summon? Allows you to set up Toad+Elf without needing an extender, just a discard.
What do you think about the potential of gishki spright? With the new support you can either loop gustkraken to rip their hand apart or play the new ritual to end on an extra negate.
what are your thoughts about gale dogra into schism and winda? im trying it out with runick spright. my idea is then to protect the winda with runick cards and gain control of the game in the grind.
What do you think of the Adventure Spright Angler variant (with Swap)? The Adventure Engine gives you an Omni Negate (with Swap you can bounces that into your hand) and you get Elf - Toad and IP fairly easily. Especially with the new support that is coming.
Hi! Have you tried melffy spright ? The turn 1 combo is quite strong against tears and it plays quite well into shifter (I've been main decking it in that version) however it struggles going 2nd even though it has like 20 free spots for tech cards
very informative video, love it Wonder if the dark summoning beast engine is better now since it offers 3 link material which helps make the double toad board?
that could certainly be something to look for, although discarding your non engine cards isnt really something you want to do, also they arent water so if you still go for toad you wont be adding anything useful back, only Swap
hey Jushua I wanted to say that right now I have the most fun following your stream and your vids on twitch and YT. It really makes my day. Good luck for the 8th in cologne. Are you fine with ppl coming up to you for fotos or would you say you dont like that? Have a good one
Hi Joshua, Wie findest du Brave Spright? Was findest du gut an dem Deck und was findest du eher schlecht?
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO yeah just debating between that and pure to bring to a regional. The swap discard enchantress or angler seems strong. The pure version I’m worried about bricking on hand traps
Hey Josh! You mentioned the lack of board breaking ability in Tri-Spright. With that said, is it not worth running the WU Kitten tech to help achieve that, even though understandably the card is weak by itself as a slot in the deck. Im trying to determine whether the pros outweigh the cons on this one. Ty for the content!
great video. What do you think about Mystic Mine Spright and Mystic Mine in general? Isn't Mystic Mine even better now since it is good vs Tear and if there are less Spright there will be less Smashers? Thanks
Same Problem as with runick; powerspell spright is weaker since the tear builds play spell canceller and eradicator; if they move away mine is better if mine is better again More people will play the outs to powerspells
Just lost 3 match against matchmetch using the evil twin version show in this video. The guy use a lot of handtraps in his mathmech, being totally destroyed by nibiru. I was wondering if you could explain how to play against nib. Thanks!
How you feel about trickstar lilybell lvl 2 extenders making a full board with djinn buster I:P and Elf with set smashers happy send a decklist and combo replay and great video alot insight to different verisons and different ways of thinking each strategy
I'm very curious what you think about a Runick Synchro deck. I'm between that deck and good old Branded Despia for the updoming YCS. My hearth wants to play Runick, but my mind says that Branded has a better chance of performing well
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO True, but that goes for evey Runick build i think. Even the spright variant is not that good going second without some blowout board breakers
Thanks for your insightful and informative contents as always! Is the third copy of Hugin necessary for your new Runick Spright build because I believe two can be good enough?
Hey, Do you think that spright gonna be Tier 1, Post Darkwing Blast? The two support cards are powerfull, but Tear and kschadrila will be better, doesn't it?
Have you tried the Spright Myutant variant? It could be a decent option. Myutants have a level 2 monster in Myutant M-05 and M-05 on normal of special let's you add the lvl 1 myutant extender so maybe you can end on Spright Elf easier while level more lvl 2s on board. You can also run the Myutant beast for some spell negation on a atk 2400/2400 def wall. Or even Myutant Arsenal if yoj u want to banish a monster on the field. Really good against Tear in my testing.
Have you tested the iblee version? Endboard is elf + ip + iblee on their side of field. Summon iblee with gigantic and get rid of their normal summon with smasher or let them link away and use ip + elf (bringing back iblee) to unicorn their link away and get them locked again. A single dark beckoning beast + random discard does the combo
What do you think about knightmare iblee? summon it with gigantic, go into elf and special summon it at your opponents side, you can stop the normal summon with smashers and when he wants to crush into your mons with iblee you can change it with enemy controller . its just a go first thing, go sec she makes nothing , go first after siding im playing the artifacts so she is a impermanence out , but droplet is the biggest out against iblee . there a pro´s and con´s but a test is worth it i think
What are your thoughts on Spright Melffys? I tried to splash the two together but i realized although they're level 2s the endboard is pretty different from each other. Sprights is consitent combos to get to an endboard while the Melffys are more or a control grind approach. Tbh i've been play testing and i think the deck is too much for me at this point.
A build/variant and I think is decent even post Ronin and Halq ban is Spright Adamancipator. The deck still makes Toad with ease and makes Elf, I:P, and either a Dragite or Crystal Wing
With tri spright would it be possible to play gurura? Since tear gets a new boss monster you could super poly and get gurura then link that and another monster into a tribrigade
Brave Spright: Solid, but wasnt my favorite version before the banlist and I havent tried it much since then Paleo: Way too slow for the modern environment sadly
What do you think about playing live twins with the runnick engine? Ive been playing Live twin spright since day 1 pretty much and ive come to the realization that the deck is missing something especially now with the ronin hit so i decided to put in a runnick engine and id say it works well, it has some great synergy with the twins and you get a lot of drawing power.

@@Nitrus7 basically sprind solves the current issue rn.
@@troygrootegoed3160 yep pretty much, also Tearlament Spright becomes a poasibility because Sprind can send Merrli. Sprind is so fair and balanced man
How is it a weaker board? In that first combo you showed, if you link Blue and Jet into Elf instead of Ahashima, you still end on Toad and Red

Thank you! Its absolutely fine for people to come up to me at events :)
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO nice then I am looking forward to say hi in cologne :)
i thought the deck pics moving was funny. good vid.
Hi Joshua,
Wie findest du Brave Spright?
Was findest du gut an dem Deck und was findest du eher schlecht?
2:50 you could also play 1 Ipiria and draw one
Love the videos, what do you think about adventure spright?
Not my favorite version but certainly playable
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO yeah just debating between that and pure to bring to a regional. The swap discard enchantress or angler seems strong. The pure version I’m worried about bricking on hand traps
I was watching bits of the live stream but how to you feel about Tri-heart being run in Spright Twins?
definitely want to see your take on tears.
Can we please have this for tearlament
yes, lets go with tear too!
Its not bad but only comes into play when you already get to resolve Gigantic which is usually what everyone is trying to prevent
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO Thats very true, thank you
great video.
It feels like a lot of people have outs to Mine currently so im not so sure on that version
awesome content, yes pls more of these kinds of videos!
That part at 4:55 aged well
I prefer to play adventure bc it’s insane and playing d shifter is ftk against tear what are your thoughts
Great video! What's your opinion on adventure spright?
Just lost 3 match against matchmetch using the evil twin version show in this video. The guy use a lot of handtraps in his mathmech, being totally destroyed by nibiru. I was wondering if you could explain how to play against nib. Thanks!
How you feel about trickstar lilybell lvl 2 extenders making a full board with djinn buster I:P and Elf with set smashers happy send a decklist and combo replay and great video alot insight to different verisons and different ways of thinking each strategy
Can you make a Video about the Comicng dracoslayer pendulum deck?
I'm very curious what you think about a Runick Synchro deck. I'm between that deck and good old Branded Despia for the updoming YCS. My hearth wants to play Runick, but my mind says that Branded has a better chance of performing well
the Synchro combos are impressive going first but im not sure how well it plays into boards
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO True, but that goes for evey Runick build i think. Even the spright variant is not that good going second without some blowout board breakers
Loved the video! Keep it up :)
Thanks for your insightful and informative contents as always! Is the third copy of Hugin necessary for your new Runick Spright build because I believe two can be good enough?
I started with two and really wanted the third one multiple times
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO I see Thanks!
Hey,
Do you think that spright gonna be Tier 1, Post Darkwing Blast?
The two support cards are powerfull, but Tear and kschadrila will be better, doesn't it?
14:56 Earth Golem @Ignister 😁
Hey joshi, what do you Think about runick tear?
I have a spright melffy deck that I'm super duper hype on but actually scared to share my decklist lol but i'd love to surprise Joshua
How do you feel about some tunic sprights combining I to iblee and protecting it with the runic cards lol
I think Iblee is ‘fine‘. The combos are strong but lose to Enemy, Droplet etc, also drawing Iblee is absolutely horrible
Awesome video sir Joshua, what's your honest opinion on the byssted archetype cards
I like them a lot, they’ll be a strong engine after DABL
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO I feel like dragon links are gonna be a possible strong contender
I have seen some version play a gale dogra to send apkalone from ED and tuto shaddoll schism. Do you think that is a viable strategy ?
What are your thoughts on Spright Melffys? I tried to splash the two together but i realized although they're level 2s the endboard is pretty different from each other. Sprights is consitent combos to get to an endboard while the Melffys are more or a control grind approach. Tbh i've been play testing and i think the deck is too much for me at this point.
I feel like the Melffy cards require a bit too much space in the deck, but that’s just my first impression
Awesome video, as a ex spright player it really hurts me...waiting for bysstial dragonlink.... greetings from Perú
What is your favorite option after the new link 2 comes out (angler combo)? Have you tested out something with brave cuz sinergizes with angler too?
I havent looked into all the DABL decks yet since im mostly focused on YCS Utrecht which is pre-DABL
Whats with a profile with the iblee lock ?
Please do another video for tear and for the rogue contenders for YCS Minneapolis
Hey man, have u tried Trickstars engine?
So two options I'm curious to hear your opinion on. Brave Spright. And our boys Paleo Spright
Brave Spright: Solid, but wasnt my favorite version before the banlist and I havent tried it much since then
Paleo: Way too slow for the modern environment sadly
@@JoshuaSchmidtYGO thank you for getting back!
Thoughts on 3xDark Beast Beckoning and 2xOpening of the Spirit Gates? You can get Elf+Toad with 1 DBB and 1 discard.
I think it’s quite good although im not sure if it actually is the best way to go
one complaint about this video: there was a lot of sound popping throughout the video and it was a little annoying.
