You really need someone who is fluent in Arabic. The amount of scammers and the vile stuff they say to tourists is wild, they just assume you don’t understand what they’re saying lol
I've been to Egypt 2 months ago, stayed in Hurghada for 2 weeks. The weather was beautiful, the excursions we did were incredible. The hotel standards are a little lower, but all inclusive is affordable easily. I would absolutely come back and recommend going to Egypt. Havent encountered scammers tbh, just a lot of people trying to sell u stuff, you just say no and move on or completely ignore them. The traffic is however pretty chaotic.
Kudos for your open-minded approach to the pyramids mate. I like that you have obviously delved further into the possibilities, and assessed what feels true to you. Also, good travel tips - I appreciate the transparency.
This looks pretty terrible. A good reminder that social media never shows what the experience is actually like. Super easy to create a beautiful highlight reel and make even the worst trips look epic. Reality is often very different. Good on you for being transparent with your audience and showing this side of things.
I love Cairo, the old historic places are extremely worth seeing and being there in person, experiencing the local atmosphere and the hustle and bustle is fine, it can get a bit much sometimes, but you can understand that people are just going about their day trying to provide for their families , people are mostly very friendly. There is a side to Cairo , you didn't show, the posh places.. there are many modern locations , posh compounds and neighbourhoods, awesome hotels that I would say are better than many in Dubai.. you just need to know where they are..
Nice time to come to Egypt, the weather is nice this time of year. I left the UK in the early 2000’s to go and work overseas, USA , Kuwait , Doha Qatar and now Egypt last 14years in sharm el sheikh for the US government, we probably have the best gym in Egypt 😂. Theres a big expat community of brits in sharm and Cairo. I spend most of my time in maadi and Giza Cairo. Love it! Chaos 24/7 in the city that never sleeps.
Egypt is amazing. I traveled Giza, Aswan up the Nile and Luxor. You can have an amazing trip you just need to plan all the tours and travel ahead of time.
Been to egypt in September and to honest the old ruins and old culture is amazing and takes your breath away …. Buuut the country is total chaos some people mean genuinely good but there are so many scammers and the military is extremely rude especially in the airport . So I love the respect they have for their old culture but they have so many work to keep the country tourist friendly
Hey brother, I’m Egyptian, and I wish you’d let us know the next time you’re coming to Egypt! Post about it in advance, and I’ll make sure to help you get the best experience here. I live right next to the pyramids, and me and my friends would love to guide you around. We’ll show you the best spots, help you avoid scams, and make sure you get the most authentic Egyptian vibe, all while getting the best deals. Let us know, and we’ve got your back!
Marriott Mena House is pretty solid, I stayed there in a suite with the pyramid view. Also did a river boat tour down the Nile. Egypt really isn’t a party place, it’s a place to explore the ancient sites. Luckily my wife is Arab, and it’s her first language, so we could tell the scammers to buzz off. Funny enough, after we crawled all the way into the Great Pyramid….There was only one other person in there, and he was wearing a suit. Immediately tried to con us into paying him for a “tour” lol Also, since I’m white most of the people didn’t realize my wife is fluent in Arabic. Most of those street vendors and con artists are usually calling you names and saying pretty nasty stuff, thinking you won’t understand. Even your tour guides. The level of shook when my wife responded to them lol
Yes Mikey, I love that you mentioned hancock and carlson. Both their work is so cool and interesting to think about. You were alright before, but now you're certified.
Honestly this video is phenomenal, showing the diversity of Egypt with pros and cons. Very brave though to take the hair cut experience😮 , the concert was a terrible experience which I would never do. As an Egyptian In general I assume this might be a good ad for others to visit, excluding concerts😊
Mike, if you can book a flight at night time and fly over the Pyramid with just the light from the Moon shining on it - it just feels like being in Space. Actually I think that is the best way to actually view the Pyramid. From above. I agree with you also; they just feel old. Older than the surrounding culture of Egypt. Lastly; it is also incredible to think that they were here when Jesus and Moses from the Bible were walking our Earth.
Been to egypt 5 times this year and 7 in total and i can tell you there is absolutely no way to not get scammed there. However, you shouldn’t make a 1 or 2 $ scam ruin ur whole experience as it’s usually pocket change for u put a lot for them so take it with a light heart and enjoy the experience ☺️ + the raving scene in Egypt is acc pretty good from regular parties to international parties like this one but u should always opt for the vip tickets to avoid the mess.
I loved your narration Mike. Been there, absolute chaos, esp when it comes to pitching camels, gifts, photoshoots. I wish you went to the Natural Hostory Museum, that one was pretty dope. I got some papyrus art as well.
You're explanation of the yet to be revealed history of the pyramids and sphinx was nice to hear and your reference to Cosetti, Carlson and Hancock let me know that there is more to your meathead persona lol - great video!
You guys should have followed through with the Mena House for your stay (I assume that is the hotel you were referring to near the pyramids). We stayed there 6 years ago and it really added to the experience. Yes it is old and looks a little tired, but what doesn't in Egypt. The rooms ended up being decent enough, much better look than the common areas. We spent part of the evening exploring the hotel and it felt like Indiana Jones might pop out at any minute. Waking up to the pyramids being right there and in your face was also a very cool way to start the trip. The 10 minute walk up to the pyramids was preferable to another death race in a cab as well. Though you do have to run the gauntlet of aggressive Egyptian men trying to sell you all manner of thing. Yikes! Definitely going to give any future parties at pyramids a miss. That looked like a recipe for tragic news headline!
Omg this looks so terrifying ❤️ what a surprise no one got hurt this sounds like the worst organised event ever. Thank you so much for your honesty and that instagram is definitely an advertising platform to only show the positive side

I’ve been to Egypt three times. Honestly, apart from getting blasted every day at the all-inclusive resorts, there’s not much else I’d go back for. The locals tend to see tourists as walking ATMs, which makes sense-they’re just hustling to support their families. No hate for that, but it’s not an experience I’d want to repeat. Once, I took a bus from Hurghada to the Pyramids. I wouldn’t recommend it-long ride, not very comfortable-but for me, the pyramids were a lifelong bucket list item. After watching so many JRE episodes and RUclips videos about them, I had to see them in person. Be ready to get hustled at every corner, though. At one point, someone even offered me 100 camels for my wife! The cultural boundaries are nonexistent compared to what we’d consider normal in a developed country. That said, I’ve also shared tea with some genuinely great locals-regular dudes, just from a different part of the world. Overall, it’s a mixed bag. The magnitude of Pyramids is something I'll never forget. And I'm glad I did it., but I don’t think I’d go back.
I saw the pyramids and the terrific night show. Turn your head slightly around and the image is shattered by a massive car park and McDonald's. I was with crew members from the ship I was working on. We had quite a drive and our drivers were mental. On reaching the insanity of Cairo they had no idea where the pyramids were. Driving in chaos they were asking drivers in moving cars for directions. I was terrified. Worse on the dark ride back to ship. I gripped tight at every bend, never thought I'd get back alive. I choose to ride a horse, others the camels. The guy assigned to look after me promised to ensure the horse didn't gallop. At the first instance he did the opposite and off I went having no control. The horse knew what it was doing. I found myself galloping up this steep ridge leaving my camel friends behind. They were cheering me on thinking I was an experienced rider but I was helpless and out of control. Large whisky in the crew bar on return.
Spent a week in sharm El-Sheikh, lovely hotels and Beautiful scenery etc soho square i believe they called it was like a mini vegas and the quad bikes into the sinai mountains was an amazing experience. I wanted to share that I’ve also been there with my brother and a friend. It’s a fascinating place, but I found it to be quite dangerous at times. Many people there just want to scam you or take advantage of you. I also noticed the way women are treated-everyone stares, and I’m honestly glad I didn’t bring my wife because it would have been very uncomfortable, which I find really sad. As a Muslim, it’s disappointing that, even though Egypt is a Muslim country, I didn’t feel much of the Islamic values, especially the respect that Islam teaches.
