My name is Jay Swanson - I'm an American writer living in Paris on an artist visa. Paris (yes the one in France) has been my home for years now and I have every intention of staying here for as long as they'll have me. I write science-fiction and fantasy, vlogged daily for 3+ years, and love pizza a little too much. Now I make videos about visiting Paris, traveling in Europe, and try to share what I've learned along the way. I hope you enjoyed what you found.

I was inspired by you to start getting active a couple of months ago watching your vlogs and I’m still keeping up with it till now. I mostly been walking/jogging and have added strength training and dialed in on my nutrition. Especially upping my protein intake. The consistency has been key. Even on a “rest day” I still walk and do active recovery stretching. I’ve also been reading about 20 minutes everyday. I love all these habits that I’ve stacked. I feel so productive and happy taking care of myself now. Thank you for being an inspiration!

you are such a productive person. after not exercising all winter (!), i stopped this video halfway and went for a short run. (also just saw Dune this weekend - didn't think i'd say this of such a dystopian theme but - it's so beautiful)

Laying out your workout clothes the night before so they are the only option available is such a powerful thing. I personally wake up like a grumpy toddler every morning and putting on the workout clothes just by default is half the battle to actually doing a workout.

Your landlady sounds incredible, what a gem and good for her paying it forward. I have no idea how old she is but that card and the sentiments remind me of my grandma - so wise. I hope she is like your adopted grandma to make Paris even more your home.

I am essentially a night owl and I have also been trying to change into a morning person. I actually love it when I get up early in the morning. It's such a quiet, peaceful time of the day and I find that I get so much done (way more than if I get up later in the day). I an adding in a few new habits, little by little and it works for me. Your landlady is such a treasure. I hope that we will get to see a tour of Puxan's (not sure if I spelled that right) mother's apartment when it is completed. That is if his mother does not mind. I remember you filming some cooking videos with her. I am loving your daily videos.

You could try putting some flax seeds (it helps to blend them first) in your smoothie, to add some extra nutrition to help keep you going. I have a similar thing and I find they really help.

When I worked in the states, I had to be at work at 7:15am-high school nurse. I would lay out my scrubs and things the night before. Less noise and lights for my sleeping husband and less stress for me. Your skin is looking great. Love Cooper in the bath!

Prepping has helped me significantly especially with my gym class starting at 5am

Lowfat or non fat plain Greek yogurt gives a good protein hit. Avocado-good fats 1/4 to 1/2 per smoothie satiates appetite and thickens it.
I do get a decent amount of avo during the week, mostly as guac 🥑🥰🥑
I’ve lost a ton of weight. B1 and B12 gives you energy. Poor diet depletes B vitamins ❤

4:27 Moisturiser is a basic human right. I’ve gone without moisturiser but in my case, it’s more oily skin than anything else. Also, aloe Vera gel is a great option too.

Paris in the pocket ...the book is Paris in your pocket...get it...(At a pub) And that's how this idea happened 😂 good luck but seems a little too ... I'll say different for me.

Brother, you have to moisturise your body! This why black people age slower. Your skin needs the daily top up natural oils, especially in this colder continent.
Really? You're consuming 160 g of protein with just the shakes, and then eating other meals with protein. That seems like a lot to me. I thought the recommended amount was .36 g for every pound of your weight. You might want to double check.
0.7g - 1g per pound is recommended, especially if you're doing weights
And better to be operating with a surplus than not enough. 🚀
Also quick tip that the body can’t really process 80g of protein at once for muscle synthesis. One is better off taking two 40g shakes a couple hours apart. And a recovery shake post workout with a carb-protein ration of 4-1 is ideal for recovery. Keep up the hard work!
