    Where did the Gaul's obtain plywood from?

    • @Carancerth
      @Carancerth  5 дней назад

      Trees.
      Actually we know romans and gauls were able to produce very thin planks, and use them to build shields for examples.
      Regarding the gauls we know they also weaved wicker, or even sculpt the shield from a tree.

    Nice Work 👍 but never use Gloves while using a Machine. And Metall Blades for the SAW are overheating quickyl, so there are unuseable for Metall again. ✌️

      I will always used gloves, I use too much my hands to risk them.
      And of course I never use a blade used on wood, for metals.
      I simply use a blade designed for metals, and keep it to cut wood.
      So far it was very efficient even with cheap metal blades ;)

    Very useful! Looking forward to other HEMA content, you're one of the few that brings "big" battles and it's very interesting to see stuff like that!

      I'll bring a lot of duels too, + step by steps like that
      Annddd YES I plan to bring new "collective fight" to the table ;)
      Let me just finish all the equipment with my friends ;p

    Very nice looking shield! Good idea to draw a line near the edge on the backside to know until where you need to apply the glue. Will be trying that! One question though: I noticed you only applied glue + fabric to the front side, but won't the shield warp over time like it does when you paint only one side of a wooden board?
    Salutations de Germania Inferior!

    How much linen did you buy for the edge?

    • @Carancerth
      @Carancerth  4 года назад +1

      The edges are covered with rawhide. Perhaps 250 cm total .. or a bit more the shield is about 120 ish cm high.

      Chris Vernel oh, I gotcha. I think I thought it was due another shield building video I watched where they used linen for the edge and I hadn’t seen the video in a while so that’s on me. Thanks for your response and I am looking forward to making a pretty shield like your own. 👍

      @@theargonianmercenary184 no problem! I do use fabric to cover thz outside of the plywood, period. And even sometimes leather. (That will be the case for some of the next tutorial i will provide you with, once ive finished the improovemznts in my workshop. ;) this summer will have more content than the last one !
