Interesting, you could use this just for walking around, like night vision. I wonder if it can see long IR or just near. Because if you use near IR a a light source, other people can see it.
Google search "PVS 69" and you will find boat loads of people converting the runcam night eagle 3 into digital night vision devices! From my understanding, it's sees both, and even down into the 450nm range that normal high end pvs14's can't see. I haven't tested them side by side personally though, so take that with a grain of salt.
It is getting dark closer to 4pm these days, I would prefer to fly at 9pm for the sunset but sadly not. Anything to extend winter months flight options are good.
I suspect RunCam is making these for the Russia vs Ukraine war. Footage isn’t supposed to be great and only for function. Guess they are cashing in on the war.
Great vid! Is it possible to get the feed of this on devices other than DJI, say an android phone? If yes, is it the same setup, using a Tx & Rx like Skydroid?
Interesting. Do you know how the tiny Runcam Link antenna they ship it with compares in range to the larger lollipop sized antennas that used to come with the Caddx Vista?
I’ve done something similar with a cheap analog camera. I took the multi color glass off the lens and it works similarly to this and you use most of the color haha 😂
Could probably mount some IR LED's out to the sides of the front props to illuminate directly in front of the quad without getting and bleed in to the lens. Looks like this camera combo would be great for the pilots view at night on a camera drone that is carrying a high end action camera as the main camera.
@@Painless360 Will watch - did you use basic IR LED's, or the Spotlight style used in larger security cameras? The latter are strong enough to use as Cinema lights for horror films :)
I have analogue night/low light cameras, but the real question is this - do I want to go for a long walk in the night if the thing ditches?. It's bad enough during the day!.
Sadly HD FPV puts the price of entry for FPV so high. I hope we will finally have good open-source alternatives in the future but DJI seems to have totally cornered that market 😢
Pretty impressive camera indeed! Fantastic review, Lee! Thanks! 😃
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
how does it compare to the CADDX Starlight?
This is so amazing!! Please keep more content like this 🎉
Really cool tech, thanks Lee...👍🏻🍻👊🏻
DJI only? No support on HDZero? Since its a runcam does it work with both? (Apologies for likely silly question, I have not tried DJI system before).
No idea, do other cameras designed for the DJI system work on HDZero?
Very interested in this camera, I love to night fly in the summer.
perfect, can use this to make your own nvg
Thanks for sharing. Think I'll get me one to try fly.

Cool, I wonder what the use cases are? Do people want to fly at night for fun?

I work nights and fly in the dark a lot. Analog is a lot better at night mostly, and hdzero for me.
When can we get thermal and class 4 night vision?!
How does this compare to the caddx polar camera ?
Just got mine excided to try it out 😄
Is it compatible with any of the walksnail VTX.
No. DJI has a different cable... Happy flying

I'm not aware of any... Best of luck
If they could make the cables easier to swap on the camera side you could easily toggle between two cameras depending on conditions.

Excuse me! It is possible use DJI AND THIS CÂMERA SIMULTANEOUSLY?
This replaces the camera connected to your DJI air unit... Happy flying
Love this
The night eagle 3 has a color screen. It's weird that the HD doesn't.

With this camera, I dont think it is needed... Happy flying
@@Painless360 Maybe, but fun factor,... :D
Been there, done that. Only helps when things are very close to the front of the quad - see my videos on it.

Both.. These modern cameras work without them..

Led lights on models are a lot more useful for this after sunset! Happy flying

I really would appreciate the wiring tutorial for new comers noobs like me.
Check out the series aimed at beginners, they cover all that... Happy flying
First 🤟🏻
@painless360. Hi there if i wanted to change the camera for a colourful one will it work ??
It should do. Happy flying !
@@Painless360 thanks u
Remember the og air unit got the goggles racing edition but broke the camera no replacement
What is meant by “DJI system?” Does that mean this camera will work only with DJI drones? Noob…
Nope. DJI HD System.. See my videos on it. Lots of detail on this channel aimed at new pilots..
