Thank god for this. I just spent two hours trying to solve the riddle that is my homework and here the idea is conveyed perfectly in about five minutes.
Thanks a lot, I learned some new stuff. And really love your channel, hope you guys continue making videos. Just some tips that helped me - Dar is an ar verb but when conjugated in the past, conjugate it as an er verb without putting the tilda.. - Ver is regular just don't add the tilda. - the stem for querer is quis - the stem for decir is dij but for the ustedes form we'll add eron not ieron - the stem for traer is traj and we'll do the same thing with ustedes as in decir - stem for conducir is conduj, same thing for ustedes. Out of the list, you'll have to memorize ser/ir :)
Congrats! I am Spanish native speaker. This is an excellent video, with great graphics and most importantly content knowledge. I was wondering if you have a video tutorial on the Imperfect tense. I looked for it, but I couldn't find any. Thanks.
Best video Id ever seen. I read the full categorization on the note, but theres something i couldnt understand. these are from the post i think I-stem verb also uses the normal endings that a stem-changing verb uses(-e/-iste/-o/-imos/-isteis/-ieron), and i think irregular endings from Table 2 that the i-stem verbs uses, is the exactly the same as the irregular endings for preterite verbs from Table 1, i cant understand what the mean. could you let me know them?
Sure. Have a look at the charts of the example in that area of the post (table 2) and also the endings for the chart after that, which for some reason are not included in the post (hacer: yo hice, tu hiciste, ella hizo, nosotros hicimos, ellos hicieron). Of course the stems are different, but the endings also are not quite the same. For example, "tener" is an -er verb. If we follow the ENDING rules, the yo form should end in "í." But "I had" is not "tuví," it's "tuve," so the ending changed. Same with the third person singular: Even after changing the STEM, the ENDING should follow the rule for an -er verb, which is -ió (with an accent). But the actual conjugation, "ella hizo," has no i, and an O *without* an accent. The rest of the endings are the same, but we definitely can't call the whole ending set normal, because of those changes. That's why the page calls the endings "irregular." Hope that helps!
This video only has the endings for AR verbs in the preterite but does not have the endings for ER and IR verbs however, the examples use all 3 different verb types (AR, ER, IR). do you have a video with the ER/IR verb endings for preterite? thank you for making this video. simple and to the point.
one request: Repetition is the mother of retention. So when you highlight the 3 boxes on the left ("I, you, he/she"), and then for expediency sake (assuming this is already fully understood) blow through the 3 boxes on the right in Spanish, without the corresponding English explanation, my mind has to remember what the heck those three boxes on the right mean. I find a lot of these Spanish lessons make assumptions that a new student may need reinforcement on.
En España, la palabra "andaron" es sólo usado en el pretérito de la lengua asturiana. El uso de este conjugación es oficialmente prohibido en la lengua española debido la palabra tiene un conflicto de pronunciación con una palabra jerga en francés (daron) que es indicativo como una persona que es más de 75 años de edad. Como resultado, la conjugación oficial del verbo andar en el pretérito español es anduvieron.
Hola! Are you talking about 'traje' from Traer? That's in the irregular list at 06:27 - none of those have the yo or él/ella form accents. But it's also not an -ar verb, so maybe I guessed wrong on your autocorrect?
Hola hola! Thanks for sharing, it's always good to learn regional differences in languages! While in your region/country that word might not be used, it does exist. For example, from "Contigo lo quiero todo" by Olga Salar (de Valencia): "A Charlotte no le cupo ninguna duda de que nadie esperaba..." :-)
Why so much discussion over a petulant childlike man such as Trump. He makes arguments that sound like a five year old makes when trying to justify his obvious wrongdoing. Just call him a big crybaby.
It´s NOT called Pretérito. It´s called Pretérito Indefinido and there´s a reason to be so specific. There are a handful of other past tenses that are all ¨preterite¨. Pretérito Imperfecto, Pretérito Perfecto Compuesto, Pretérito Pluscuamperfecto... All of those are past tenses and they have ¨Pretérito¨ in name. It´s like differentiating apples and fruit. All apples are fruit, but not all fruit are apples. Please use correct terminology. We have generations of American Spanish students who grow up using wrong terminology and then get confused when learning the correct one.
