Getting your work area sorted out on the first day is underrated but super important. I spent a few months at a desk I hated at my new job for no reason just because I was too shy to ask for help! I love the retro vibes of this place, fill it with 70s furniture and neon lights 😎 or conversely tons and tons of houseplants
What is her profession, now? Last I heard she was a paleontologist specializing in precambrian sea creatures, such as "Anomalocacaus Candedenses" (Forgive my misspelling). That is not exactly the kind of thing you can do over Skype, in your home Office. 🤔 Unless her house is built on an ancient sea bed.
I’m waiting on some new furniture from surplus and then it will be perfect… The house is GLORIOUS. I love it. Definitely needs work in important areas but the design and layout are amazing

I specialized in Mesozoic crustaceans (Jurassic mainly) for my research in school. My goal was always to work in museum curation of fossils which is what I now do (but with this job I cover archaeology, ethnology, osteology, biology and more). Most employed/degreed paleontologists are in the office most of the time though. Most of the work is research/prep of the specimens you already have. And I also do not have a home office! That was my new job office location

You should remove the door nob on the closet and leave it as an open hole. Then get a bookshelf big enough to cover the closet, and make it to where you can easily scoot it out Like a secret passage and that can be your doll storage! Maybe get little wheels for under the bookshelf or maybe they sell a platform for the bookshelf to sit on.

It’s an absolutely massive property and we have a pool back there! I really love it. I’m already tired of the mosquitos… grew up in Houston but spent two years in NY so I didn’t experience them as bad haha

Maybe check to see if you're allowed to plant citronella in Alabama, a few good sized plants around the garden can really help. (And mosquito nets!)

Your house had to be built at the same time as mine, they’re sooo similar. Got to love 60’s bathrooms 😂😂 I can’t wait to have mine remodeled next year (hopefully).
I love the different sectors of the backyard. There’s also a pool, another property with driveway and quite a few trees and “wild areas”! It’s going to be so fun to figure out

Very cool mid-century house! My dad built my childhood Cape Cod home in 1954. It had the two tone tile in the bathroom. One of the rooms had those knotty pine walls. Love it! I can see a lot of good things happening there! I wish all the best for you!

I wish the market was more reasonable. It was HELL trying to get this house fully secured but I’m so glad we made it! The yard was a HUGE bonus for sure
The new doll space looks really functional and fitting for you and your collection! I would definitely recommend taking off those closet doors, they become way more accessible without the sliding doors.
Right?? Mid century is the best. My parents had a huge midcentury rambler house and sold it when they divorced. Over a decade later and I'm STILL salty. It was fabulous.
Also you could really hide the windows/closets by doing curtains all around the wall to make it uniform. It could be very clean looking or maximalist based on what curtains style/pattern you use, and serve as a background for your doll displays since many of your shelves are open back.

We're selling our house and I've really struggled with putting all the dolls away so to see how nice it is to get to put them all back up after the stress of the move really helps xx

I’m gonna do blackout curtains with foam to reduce sound and then just put shelves in front. That’s how I did the last doll room and I liked it!
