      @@seydelharmonicas Is there any news on this? I know you are probably very busy already but it would be nice to know how long it will take.
      I was thinking about a whole tone tuning where each hole's blow and draw is 2 semitones apart so that there is a very nice draw bend on every hole. Furthermore, since the top and bottom hole are only a semitone apart you can basically bend from every semitone to every other semitone up or down depending on where you start.

    • @kungfumachinist
      @kungfumachinist 3 года назад +1

      @@teliph3U I think what you are describing is a diminished-tuned arrangement (minor third from hole to hole). I have a Seydel Solist Pro Steel and a Lucky 13 both in diminished tuning. Love it. I've been thinking about a slide harp with dimi tuning, but I think this is better.

    • @teliph3U
      @teliph3U 3 года назад

      @@kungfumachinist, at least in the configurator they call it a whole tone tuning. I also have a Lucky 13 in diminished tuning. I have been playing for a bit more than a week and already memorized the layout. It is so great finally being able to play everything.
      Did you do any modifications to the harp? Because mine is a bit leaky in the lower octave and the draw reed plate was completely bent. Due to the valves I cannot sand it down and the gasket valves are not available for this model. Also, the sound is sometimes a bit too tinny for my taste. I hope I can find a replacement for the valves. Because then I would sand both surfaces and add the reeds back with screws.

    • @kungfumachinist
      @kungfumachinist 3 года назад

      @@teliph3U Ah, yes I guessed. I understood the blow/draw interval on the same hole as a whole tone, but wasn't sure if you meant it was also a whole tone from the draw up to the next blow. Anyway, the lowest note on the L13 is good, the next 2 fair. All I have done is tweak the gapping, but I plan to start learning other techniques like embossing. My reed plates are also quite bent, maybe that's why they use so many screws. I was not able to flatten it. I am considering an Andrew Zajac "dark comb" to warm/mellow it out, maybe that would help with the "tinny" you describe. Oh, also I replaced most of the valves on the lower plate with PT Gazell valves.

    Buyers should be aware that not all of the Nonsliders are valveless. It depends which tuning version you buy.
    From Seydel's product page...
    In order to achieve an optimal tone responses, the reeds of the LC, LD, LE and LF variants, as well as the C 'Orchestra tuning' are equipped with valves (full and/or half-valving). Bending of certain half-valved notes is still possible - all valved blow notes can additionally be bent down in pitch. Overblows are not playable if the reeds are valved. All other keys have no valves (G, A, Bb, C and D).
    So if you are buying for the hassle free appeal of no valves, choose your tuning version carefully!
    I bought the standard Solo C model which is totally valve free.
    The Orchestra version is not!
    My Solo C Nonslider is great. No warming up before i play to stop the valves sticking. No swapping valves when they start to fail. The maximum numbers of notes bendable and over-blowable.
    It's a great design. Just be aware that some do have valves.

    The true actual beneficial beauty of this harmonica, I find, is NOT to play it as a chromatic instrument, well not initially, but to employ Seydel's online Harp Configurator to make two diatonic blues harps each ONE TONE apart.
    For example a C key richer diatonic in the lower holes and a D key richer diatonic in the upper holes.
    This would still allow chromatics if employing some bending and positional adjustment and/but significantly would grant the player many, many more chord possibilities.

    This is not a new idea. I have two Yamaha slide-less chromatics that would be at least 50 years old. The combs are wood, and the holes small and square, so a little rough on the tongue and lips.

    Для того, чтобы играть специфические мелодии (не блюз!)(Маленький цветок, танго Остапа, Королек, 7-40, крутится-вертится Шар голубой, Цыганочка и т. д. ) на обычной диатонической гармошке без бендов легко и просто, я перестроил С- гармошку в "двойной гармонический минор".
    Потом накопил денег, заказал и купил Non slider. Я думал, что на нем будет также легко и просто, как на моей настройке... Пока что на перестроенной мной диатонике получается лучше, чем на Non slider! Но я буду стараться и надеюсь освоить Non slider!

    How to best choose between the C and Bb... Now I walked into a person wanting to sell me the Bb for a better price... but most people say start on C.. but how much does this really matter? I like Chris Cornell's Billy Jean for example ruclips.net/video/R0uWF-37DAM/видео.html
    or many songs by Kat Hawkins like ruclips.net/video/jRMUWZ96qgg/видео.html
    how would playing harmonica to those songs differ between C and Bb on the Non-Slider?
    anyone that could advice a singer that wanna learn to play Harmonica but is not looking for a beginner tool but a more interesting harmonica like this Non-Slider that could last oneself for years to come.. thanks for getting back to anyone who know how to play! :)

    This new innovative design is 250 American.They are out of stock.The technical modus operandi of playing is a method called tilting.Is it a gimmick?Why would a Chromatic player be interested in this no values? It appears to be focused on the diatonic market. Tilting seems a lot of work when playing difficult musical pieces.

    • @mikrobspen
      @mikrobspen 3 года назад +1

      I find that the tilts will slow you down if you are raising a specific note a semitone But have also found tilting can work faster in situations where you are making large note jumps, as you don't have to time your jump with a slide depression. The main advantages are no slide to stick or click & no wind-savers to pop or dislodge. And bending works better for those songs that need a little growl.
