Ev rocks. Just placed a preorder with NLFX for the 90’s however Nick Spinelli is downplaying the 70’s and the 90’s. I own the Evolve 30’s, 50’s and Maui 44g2s(for large events) going to get the 90’s for even larger events. I also saw Joe Bunns video today at NAMM and that’s what sold me on the 90’s! Nick Spinelli’s latest video is hating on the Evolves real bad. He even has you in his video.
Really, all I know is what the spec sheet on the press release tells us. Like you, I have the 30M / 50's & have used EV's EKX & ETX at events as well. So just kind of reporting what I see n the press release & basing any commentary in this video with other EV products rated similarly that I've used. Those Maui 44 G2's are super nice speakers! I was at NAMM 2020 with Adam Hall Group when they debuted them & was very impressed. Experienced them indoors & outdoors & was going to get a set when they shipped, but Adam Hall Group fired the entire US team when Covid hit , so all bets were off. Looking back, as cool as the G2's are, I would haver struggled physically trying to put them together. With 1 hand, I wasn't sure how I was going to stack the columns. These 70's / 90's have built-in handles on the tops, so that'll be as easy to put together for me as the 50 / 30M. At any rate, I can only imagine what these are going to be, based on what I have read & won't have much else to say until I can see, feel & hear the finished product myself.
Compared to the QSC kc12 the evolve 70 is significantly more expensive ($2,799.00 vs $1,999), larger, has no fan, is only 1db louder than the KC12, less coverage (120° vs 145°) and still lacks a compression driver. The evolve 90 makes even less sense at 134db, with that size and expense you could step up to a flagship 18" sub and 2 way top that would put out more output. Both of these are way over priced, and really make no sense.
Qs who? 🤣 couldn’t help it just kidding. I almost agree with you 💯 except the subs are bigger and the physical height of the products is 7’ plus. I can almost look past the fan and get two small fans for the back and the top of the qsc kc is a little funny looking to me. I’m pretty sure EV did this because rcf and LD kind of really ruled the realm of big powerful columns but the look of the evolve is just so much better and ev just put everyone on notice. Now my problem with these columns is the price and not just ev all the big boys price is kind of out of control now I understand maybe they aren’t marketing it to me maybe they’re marketing it to DJs who do 500 person parties every week and get paid $5000 a gig but where does the price stop? Surely the competition will put out another column in a year or two that’s got better disbursement more power and low end but what’s it gunna be $7000-$10,000 per speaker? Who’s gunna buy it? They aren’t going to be affordable for any DJ soon

Better late than never 🤣IMO the Evolve 70 has been missed alot. Looks like EV has stayed with the design from the smaller Evolves, that means sadly enough that some sort of pole-extension so you can raise the top higher isnt´t a feature (yet). And sadly they also didn´t put a High Frequency horn at the top, probably why we see freq range at -3db : 40 Hz - 18 kHz, so a drop of at 18KHz. Be aware that the LF extension down to 35Hz (15") an 28Hz (18") is at -10db, so you wont get 132/135dB that low. As Brian mention an EKX 12P = 132 DB SPL for the top alone, but combined with a EKX-15SP sub 133dB I think you will get a tiny little more dB than the TOTAL SYSTEM Maximum SPL 133db from Evolve 70. But who play weddings at 133+ dBs anyways? And if you do you probably use something with more headroom, cardiod sub setup, delayline speakers etc etc. Competition is good even though I own RCF gear (tops+subs) I´m no fanboy of any brand, and RCF sleept for years on white coloumn arrays (didnt listen to users demand) and the Evox´es are OLD, the Maui 44 G2 in my opinion has a serious weight problem - even with Neodymium drivers, so the new Evolves and maybe a KC15 from QSC is very welcome competition in Column array line up. Maui 44G2 has HF horn + 4" voice coil on the bass, Evolve 70 only 3" VC on the bass, lets see if the Evolve 70 really can beat the Maui44 both in low and high end freq.
I don't know. I haven't talked to anyone at EV about "free" anything & just noticed the press release in my email box when I got home yesterday. So, I read thru it, took notes, shot this video & uploaded it after the embargo stated in the press release was up. I do know EV's USA marketing director & knew something was in the works, but haven't had an update since DJ Expo 2023. Any other questions?

In the USA, looks like under $3K for the 70's and low $3K's for the 90's. You'll pay more for USA brands in the UK, but you pay a lot less for stuff like FBT than we do.

The EV's having 1 more SPL unit than the 44's dont make them better........are you kissing up to EV for a free set of the new EV's
That's a little harsh. But you are correct, they are 2 way speakers. Musically they sound fantastic but just with bass and highs. I actually heard them with a mic when a dj introduced a wedding party and it sounded muffled. Meaning it was hard to understand what he was saying while playing background music. I think they will be good with no music playing just for speeches, but mixing in music it sounds like some guy mumbling. My 2c
We all have different sound objectives. All I can do is share what I've experienced & you absolutely don't have to agree with me. Again, just reporting what I've read & found interesting in the press release & basing what little commentary there is here based on my personal experience, with my sound objectives. However, I have zero experience with the 70's / 90's to have an opinion beyond having an overall good experience with EV in general. So, I don't know anything beyond what the press release is saying about these particular speakers. I'll save any statements about how wonderful or terrible I think they are when I can actually check them out. Will I get a pair? Will they be "For Free"? I don't know.

These EVs are only 2 ways, the LD Mauis are 3 way speakers.....My 44s will smash both these EVs out of the park any day of the week
