I woke up in the middle of last night. My wife of over 43 years passed away on May 1st of this year during the hospital rehab recovering stage of a double lung transplant surgery. It has changed the entire pathway of my life. After months of taking care of her I now need to fill that time void of her not being here. We bought an acreage about 8 years ago with the intent to be as self-reliant as possible. I looked at the back yard early this morning and asked myself, what is the sense of constantly mowing every week when I can convert 75% of it to garden in order to feed myself? Beginning the first week of September I will be setting out layers of cardboard under large tarps to kill the grass then start to build raised beds. I need to take positive steps to ensure I take care of myself now. Patara is a godsend for many people. She has rational, common sense and realistic views. I have a nervous sense that from today until the end of this year there will be massive chaos. Since May 1st I haven't watched one minute of TV since she is gone. I turned it off and unplugged it. I truly believe this nation is plunging toward the greatest depressions in all of history. Preparing to survive it is my intent. Get prepared.
Plan your garden well. Making it look less like a traditional garden and more like a food forest may be beneficial in the future. Keep it to yourself, then you can decide who you can bless. 🤫

I get angry when I see the "newcomers" with 2-3 carts FULL of expensive meats and other expensive brands of food that my husband and I (Seniors) cannot afford. It makes my blood boil.
Our adult kids are struggling. DIL was laid off in April. She has tried to apply for everything that she sees. There is nothing out there. Our son for a different job that makes more money bc he’s in food sales and could. He said in case she can’t find anything, he had to pick up the slack. They never go out or order out. The good side is she was home with their kids for the summer but she’s feeling depressed looking every day to no avail. The better news is a few years ago they ask me to teach them to garden. So they’ve had great harvests this summer. She ask me to teach her to preserve her harvests. We’ve blanched & froze 15# of green beans, made & canned spaghetti sauce, blanched & froze 5# of carrots. Next is making & canning salsa & beef broth. Her family continues to tell her the economy is great. She finally said - that’s not true, everyone is struggling.
We have a local politician in our Church, was asking if our Church needed rice for Wednesday night meals, he said to hold onto the rice because in 6 months things are going to be hard.
Keeping it simple. If we have 20,000,000 newcomers, that's 60,000,000 meals per day. And that doesn't touch on clothes or shelter. Americans cannot sustain this. Our food supply cannot sustain this long term. Love you Patara and support your beliefs and practices!

Our family was in Pigeon Forge the first week in January. Stopped to purchase food items in Sevierville Walmart. That store had empty shelves and busloads of “visitors” packed into the aisles and lined up at registers. We ran into one English speaking gentleman from out of town who asked if this is the way it is here all the time…. We told him we were from out of town, too, and couldn’t find any basic pantry foods. It was frightening and at the same time shocking to see people flooding into and out of the store. They were paying with government “Gift Cards.” When we left the store, the greeter looked at the floor when I asked if this is normal shopping here. She repeated the same sentence three times. “We are one of the busiest Walmarts in Tennessee.” Eight months later, we are seeing more of this in our own area in Alabama. Bet each visitor we saw in January already has the necessary voter ID’s……. Lord, help us.
I live in this area. My dad has been up at our local county offices for his registration stickers for his vehicle and saw lengthy lines of foreigners there. A friend of his then was there last week and same situation. I'm in a neighboring county. We are seeing this running rampant. Even our local Kroger runs it's overhead speaker pre recordings in Spanish.

I got some preps today…8 cans and some rice too. Then a weeks worth of groceries, and nothing fancy either. $180! When Trump was in office I could buy groceries for a MONTH for $400, and that’s for me and my son both. A meat, two sides and bread too back then. Now a meat and one veggie usually. I cut out the bread. My son can’t eat without it…he thinks. So I pamper him on that. Cuz I love him and appreciate his kind heart and his overall goodness, not to mention he’s just my son. I work in accounting Los Angeles, California and work has been slow. There has been two groups laid off since March. Total of 8 employees from my department. Last week, I hear someone from our company say there’s another round of lay offs coming soon. Many are looking for other jobs but there’s nothing out there. My daughter works in downtown Raleigh, NC. She has an excellent education but works for a fairly new company. Some of the employees were asked to work at home last week. While they were working at home, others in the office were laid off. When she came to work yesterday, she heard the news. Luckily, she is still employed.

Normally, I work 60+hrs a week, since 2015. About a month ago they cut everything to 40...mandatory zero overtime...today, we were informed that for the next 4 weeks we will only working 32 hours a week. I work for a top tier electronics factory

I thought surely he’s not following me .. but every time I turned around he was there . I thought I’m getting out of here so I checked out an had my keys in my hand to use them in any means needed.. got my stuff loaded up and left parking lot an this man followed me so I went to my sons house and told him what was going on . My anxiety is so high watching people in Walmart and trying to navigate around all the bodies. I noticed produce was very sparce. Main reason I was there . I'm so ready for the next move. Getting things done. Got the septic cleaned today and was told we need a new septic tank. (tanks are only good for around 35 years, ours 50). Good thing knowing this now, and not in the winter.
My son has been trying to find a better job all year. Everyone has "Now Hiring" signs up but when you apply they say Oh we aren't hiring right now, just taking applications. There really aren't all those jobs out there

Similar with our energy costs. Local electric company sends guidelines for "lowering your bill" (translation: "We will begin charging higher rates during peak usage hours"). Please try to use your electricity between the hours of midnight to 6am. A form of rationing...how long until it just isn't available during peak hours?
I grew up on a farm. My father taught me how to hunt, fish and trap as well as gardening. He felt woman need to be prepared for anything. We always canned enough food until the next growing season produced enough food to feed us again. I no longer live on a farm. Instead of treating this as prepping etc. Look at it this way of life. Purchase a couple cans of food every week. It does bring a sense of peace because I don't have to run to the store in a panic. Stay safe everyone.

I have a Pyr. My vet told me that if you wait until they are at least a year old to get them neutered they have a lower chance of getting bone cancer which is something large breed dogs get.

I got some preps today…8 cans and some rice too. Then a weeks worth of groceries, and nothing fancy either. $180! When Trump was in office I could buy groceries for a MONTH for $400, and that’s for me and my son both. A meat, two sides and bread too back then. Now a meat and one veggie usually. I cut out the bread. My son can’t eat without it…he thinks. So I pamper him on that. Cuz I love him and appreciate his kind heart and his overall goodness, not to mention he’s just my son. I went to Walmart couple weeks ago , first time in several months.. I’ve watched your channel for awhile now and I was aware of my surroundings and i noticed a man following me around the store. I thought surely he’s not following me .. but every time I turned around he was there . I thought I’m getting out of here so I checked out an had my keys in my hand to use them in any means needed.. got my stuff loaded up and left parking lot an this man followed me so I went to my sons house and told him what was going on . My anxiety is so high watching people in Walmart and trying to navigate around all the bodies. I noticed produce was very sparce. Main reason I was there . I'm so ready for the next move. I find myself just studying the nature of people,I see way more than I ever wanted. I work in grocery,so I do witness the older ones like myself getting that extra container of shampoo/soap. My son has been trying to find a better job all year. Everyone has "Now Hiring" signs up but when you apply they say Oh we aren't hiring right now, just taking applications. There really aren't all those jobs out there

Similar with our energy costs. Local electric company sends guidelines for "lowering your bill" (translation: "We will begin charging higher rates during peak usage hours"). Please try to use your electricity between the hours of midnight to 6am. A form of rationing...how long until it just isn't available during peak hours?

I grew up on a farm. My father taught me how to hunt, fish and trap as well as gardening. He felt woman need to be prepared for anything. We always canned enough food until the next growing season produced enough food to feed us again. I no longer live on a farm. Instead of treating this as prepping etc. Look at it this way of life. Purchase a couple cans of food every week. It does bring a sense of peace because I don't have to run to the store in a panic. Stay safe everyone.

I have a Pyr. My vet told me that if you wait until they are at least a year old to get them neutered they have a lower chance of getting bone cancer which is something large breed dogs get.
Two years would be even better, per researchers.
