Scuba Steve really does like pink bananas
Emily immediately bursting into the bathroom to tell Ed was hilarious lol
Emily casually sharing his private time when he used to refuse to be on camera.
When I found out about the choco taco ending I almost woke up my mom at 3 a.m. to tell her. I get Emily's excitement.
LOL
Such a "long time married" thing! Between bursting in to share TikToks, and the needy dogs, no bathroom in safe in our house!
Can definitely tell they have been married for awhile
Maybe it will help to present the Lavendars on a yellow piece of paper that way as the colors complementary colors and to our eyes it will increase in contrast and we will be able to see the purple!
Oh…love that idea!!
That's what I was thinking, too!
Color theory nerds using their power for good! Love it lol
That’s hella smart
Hope they try this
I'm now the proud owner of that lil' inchworm at 25:23! The unique Z-shaped spots he has near his tail make it easy to tell. When I stopped by the facility to pick one out, there were two lavender condas to choose from. I picked that guy up and he immediately started doing that same inchworm up my arm and it was love at first sight for me and I didn't even need to see the other one.
We named him Nigel, after the Thornberry (he's a hognose, after all). He's an awesome eater and doesn't mind being held at all, though he's currently on my own "naughty reptile of the day" board for pooping in his water dish.
congrats on your marriage
Ooh, do you have photos? Is he purple or more pink, like their name implies, in real life?
@@PyroFusionBlox what? Ik ur joking but lolll
@willowsdrawingsandpictures1213 he said love at first first lol
Can we get an update?

My cousin has a hognose and she does that haha. 💀💀

I really appreciate how Emily takes the time to explain the genes of the babies, and the egg-cutting process, how the blood from the cuts are not injuries to the baby, and suchlike. I've been watching for 3 summers now - BOY how times does fly! - so I'm used to it. But it's always someone's first time, so she makes sure to be clear about that. :) That's a sign of a good educator, able to tell the same information over and over without getting impatient about it.
I started watching her videos a few months ago and I really appreciate her explaining stuff since it's all new to me. It's really enjoyable to watch her enthusiasm even though I guess she's been doing this for years.
Yes! You get curious and I just love how she fills us with information. Much appreciated ❤
@@Chealder yes years!
Tbh, I usually skip that- I’ve been here for every hatching video- so it’s gets annoying, and I skip all this stuff- since a know most genetics.
I started watching her vids about 3 years ago (Same as you pretty much) I've said the same thing and congrats on getting a heart!
If you want to improve the visibility of the purple-ness of the lavender hogs you might want to try showing them on a lighter background like a white background or a light yellow background. The light yellow should especially help emphasize the purple tones of the lavender babies. 💜💛💜💛
Are we talking like camera autocorrecting the colors or just human perception?
@@edwardhisse2687 camera makes the colors look not purple
They're already on a white background, so I think it can't be helped
@@doctorcrew2388 Im asking whether camera fix it's behaviour on the right background or will our human eyes do the work
@@edwardhisse2687 I think the right background will do the trick…
Emily: 'They're so pretty and purple! We swear they are lavenders!'
Audience: *watching video of normal looking snakes*
i wish someone could make a colour corrected image so we could actually see the lavender
Agree
@@wolfsoul9743ikr
@@wolfsoul9743 there's some, but the majority of color corrected is on Pinterest, which... Is not v reputable
Dude fr
From a colour-theory perspective: if you place the Lavenders on a yellow or light orange background, like a piece of construction paper, it might allow the camera to pick up on the purple a bit more. Congrats on the great clutch!!
It's not just the relative colour of the snakes. Camera's aren't designed to register that particular wavelength of blue, so it's physically not there for us to see.
Jacaranda flowers don't photograph in colour either.
Emily acts like an excited grandma who's seeing their grandkids for the first time. It's cute
me when my dog had her litter too 🤣 once i get to breeding my california king snakes i’ll probably be the same way 🥹
@@hazeibarra1953 California king snakes? I've heard about them, I'm not an expert in snakes but in my opinion California king snakes are really pretty, they have tons of beautiful colors!
Estacy Hope I agree
Well Emily's kids are the snakes and the snakes babies and Emily's grandkids
I know
I love the annual tradition of Emily trying to hold an entire clutch of babies in her hands at once
Every time every time!🤣
Troo
Also, can I jusy say that I love how Emily and Ed don't act like it's an issue to explain the same concepts in every/most videos? It could be someone's first time watching an egg video and they see the blood and think Emily nicked the baby, not knowing about the veins. But she's like "there are veins inside the shell" and it calms fears.
I like how we're told they're pink/purple while on our end they look like various shades of beige and gray. 😂😂
I love seeing you pick the holdbacks! Can you include that segment in future videos? I love seeing what breeders look for in what they keep!
I liked this part too! Seconding hold-back choices as a part of future videos!
Yes! I'd love to see this as well 🥰
Yes!! Do this
Same, I like seeing/hearing their breeding projects, definitely back this comment!
Emily always worries that we'll get bored seeing the baby bin setups (not possible), but they could always rotate holdbacks and baby bins.
Honestly I'd love to see baby's first meals, or even just a couple of baby feeding videos if possible.
I love how Ed went from never appearing on camera to giving commentary while he poops.
I've Rewatched this video several times. I love hoggies, Emily, and Ed, so much... it brightens my day. I'm an old disabled house bound dusty rusty rockhound here! I'm a retired R.N. in a lifetime pursuit of the sciences. SCIENCE ROCKS!... and SNAKE DISCOVERY does too!!!!!

@Mrbeast scams[proof on channel] omg go away you bot
Spiritually we're all them, its just that 129k people wouldnt fit in that room and babies needed to go back in the incubator
Ye
You should post a "color-corrected" photo version of the lavenders so we can see how purple they are!
Also those little racing stripes are *so* cute!!
Since there's a number of them that have those and not just a one-off mutation, I wonder if it's mom's conda or dad's pattern interacting with the conda that might be causing that?
POV: Emily: Finds baba snakes - runs to find Ed in the bathroom and doesn't care and says "WE GOT EGGS!"
Love you're content! Continue being 'snake'some!
I screamed a little when I spotted this video. Not only are lavenders babies super exciting, but now we know hatching videos are on the horizon!
All them cute sassy hogs
Yep yep! Can't wait to see more babies
I have been waiting for months and months for hatching videos!!!
I can’t believe the lilys eggs hatched already it felt so quick!
Yea
The videos are posted a while after they where recorded I also feel like these hatching videos do too
It does!!!!! Can't wait to see which clutch will hatch out next!!!!!
Yeah! It’s only been a whole summer.

I've actually learned so much today.
Thank you both for sharing and teaching, on a level that some of us ("NEWBIES") could comprehend and learn from!
The pure joy and love that you both bring too your profession, is contagious!
I really love the difference in how Ed and Emily react to things. Emily is always so excited for anything and wants to get to the surprise. Ed is laid back and really doesn’t show the “normal” excitement but when he does, you know that it has to be amazing!
When you're having a bad day, there's nothing better than seeing baby noodles hatching. So much cuteness is so good for the mood.

I love how Emily explains the genes, and takes the time to show us the parents, explain the 'blood' is just from the veins, and watching this made me feel better because I got sick 6 days after this has been posted, I'm sad that I missed the video by seven days. :(

I love when hatching season starts, that‘s how I discovered this channel in the first place
Edit: Oh my god that was 4 or five years ago! How the time flies, I remember when you got so excited over albinos and false snows and when you hatched your first scalesless snakes
I discovered this channel through baby hog hatching videos! They're now my favorite animals of all time.
me too! Ive been waiting forEVER!
Eyyy same here! Can't believe it's been that long already wow
The high expression conda: haha u lame conda
The lavender: *at least I’m lavender* 💜
Loved the stripy babies, they are so beautiful and a complete surprise. Also, so happy to see baby snakes again! Our cat found some freshly hatched grass snakes (slightly worried he may have been helping incubate them as one was wiggling out beneath him in his sleeping patch), and I was like 'Hm... when is the baby snake season in the US?'. Always love to see the babies.
I love how Emily always talks about the blood, as someone who came here some years ago without any knowledge of snakes it was very helpful to calm me when I thought something happened to the baby, I'm so glad we are getting to the time of the hatching videos they are my favourite
It’s a really smart thing to do because the chances of somebody stumbling across this channel by the algorithm recommending them an egg hatching video without that somebody knowing anything about snakes and how their eggs work is pretty high so although it’s probably gotta be annoying to have to say it every single egg hatching video it really is smart to do when inevitably it does happen
The amount of serotonin I get from hearing Emily say "babies!" is worth the year long wait 😂💜
Yesss
Same!! I just keep watching these videos until we get new babies 🤭
Your enthusiasm is absolutely adorable!
Oh maaan, you're the best couple on RUclips and my favourite snake channel ❤ I just live watching the babies hatch, they are so beautiful 😍 you two are awesome ❤
The way you get so excited never gets old.
Such cute lil babies🥺
They have become mom and dad!
I'm super intrigued by those stripy ones! Especially since there were multiples in that one clutch - it's clearly genetic! I know your experiment with Stripey didn't work but I feel like breeding these guys up really could work!
I second this! Maybe you could develop a new line or even a whole new morph!
Pin stripe beh beez.
@@meowthekitty321 There will probably not be a new morph. The problem with conda is that it's co-dominant so if you pair two of those striped ones together 50% will be conda, 25% will be super conda and 25% will be normal. If they are conda they only get the conda gene from one parent and if they are superconda you won't see a stripe. So it's kinda hard (if even possible) to line breed with condas. Sure you can always use the striped ones but it's still not as efficient as with a recessive gene for the reasons I stated above.
@@ashleyschenk764 🛑
I love how excited you guys get for babies. ❤❤
I love how they actually let the snakes come out of their eggs instead of pulling them out like some people who are EVIL🐍🐍
I know the lavender babies are supposed to be the most exciting part of this clutch, but OMG those stripes! 🤩🤩
I'm very glad they kept at least one of the stripy babies! Ik they're looking to breed for lavs, but that one is still het lav, and should give more beautiful conda/superconda babies :)
Makes me smile that the hold backs are so pretty and know that in a few years after they grow up, snake discovery will have an amazing group to breed for lavenders
Ed to the staff: get back to work guys you can see the babies later Emily be like: Look guys babies come see Ed’s not here so no working 😂
Everyone coming over to gush about the babies made me so happy, you can tell everyone there actually cares about snakes 💛
No
I’ve missed hearing Emily say BABBYYYY!!! It’s baby season!!!!!
As an Australian, I will likely never see most of your species in person, so baby season is incredibly vicarious for me! Such precious little noodles of joy
Watching Sunshine Coast snake catchers and the size of some of the pythons…. And catching eastern browns, red bellies etc… and yeah, I’m envious of their selection of non venomous noodles.
Am also Aussie and fell in love with derpy hognoses. I know why our import laws are so strict and understand but I want a derpy noodle!
You can really see the color of the lavenders pop in the baby bins! Beautiful hatchlings!
This is so cute to watch!! Thanks for sharing it with us, you guys have the genuine reactions. Much love!
Congrats on the lavenders. Glad Lilly was what she was advertised as. Beautiful little babies.
Yes so cute glad lily was what you wanted!
Y’all def need to keep the one with the stripes at 27:38 - that could be a neat line bred trait to prove out! I wonder if a solid line could be achieved by breeding back to each parent? 🤔 Striped hogs!! 💜
I love the "Morse code" baby... Oh so pretty 😻!!!!
i always love how excited you guys get for the hatchings it really shows how much you care for these guys!
Omg I love how Ed was just chilling and was interrupted because of baby snakes
Baby season started! Hurrayyy!!! Can't wait to see all the beautiful baby noodles you will hatch this year!

I'm really excited for you to hold back so many lavenders. I'm not ready to have another snake but in 3-4 years, would love to see you with more lavenders!
It’s fascinating. How excited she gets❤
It would be interesting to see if the pink lavender coloration could be a line bred trait. Call them bubblegum lavenders 💗
Grape bubblegums!!!
The baby at 29:49 in the keep bin, closest to the camera, on the right, the one with lots of spots of different sizes, That Snake is my fave! The pattern reminds me of a tiara. So pretty.
omg, they are so beautiful!! I wish i could see their colours in person. :(
I would love one but I am not set up for them, nor have ever had any reptiles at all! They are definitely my favorite type of snake (hognose), but i would love to see those lavender colours!!
You guys are amazing!!!
Omg Emily's adorable when she's excited I can't even. What beautiful baboos ☺️🥰
Love how excited Ed and Emily still get when the eggs hatch lol
The snake that was inching away was my favorite.
Having the wait the next several years for these to grow up and be old enough to breed is going to be agonizing!
Beautiful babies!
Congratulations on your breeding!
Btw - you should probably apologize to the person who sold you that Mama snake.
She WAS het lavender! 💜💜💜
my mother is so happy, this was her fav clutch. they are so cute!!!
I just love the energy and hype in these videos. It's so fun. :D
I am so incredibly jealous of whoever gets the normal with the stripe they didn't keep. It's really interesting to see how the conda gene expressed in this clutch. It seems so much more pronounced than in previous clutches with a conda x normal or conda x conda. Maybe having a conda gene from a super means that they'll likely be high expression?
Yeah, I've never seen a conda that looked like that from any of their other clutches before! It almost looks like a perfect blend of a super and a conda. They should pair those two again, they seem to have great pattern genes!
@@snakewithapen5489 my thoughts exactly! Maybe there's already been research done but I'd love if Ed and Emily talked about it and shared their thoughts
I know the lavanders are very exciting, but I LOOOOVE the striped condas! I'm happy you're keeping at least one to see if the trait shows up again (plus breeding the parents together again may give that again... can you imagine a fully striped lavander???)
Congratulations, they are pretty.
I'm so happy that it's baby season! I love seeing all the little noodles discover the world.
I love them! Also I wonder if the lavender would show up better on a yellow background because of contrast!
Love how most of the workers ran out to see the baby hognoses in the process of hatching
I won’t even go into the reptile house at the zoo but I’m fascinated with the videos.
I’m so excited I’m getting a lavender corn snake tomorrow! I had one that was really purple years ago, this boy seems a bit more on the grey side but then I have only seen pictures and haven’t met him in person yet, and like you said sometimes it’s hard to get colours on camera!
I was so worried about the first one to come out because they looked like their neck was kinked at a weird angle. Glad everyone hatched fine and so excited for lavenders!
Same I kept wondering if that one was ok. If not a kinked neck I was worried for neurological issues. But was just being a goof or confused by the side of the container.
@@cutecats532 I can't blame the little snek. Imagine spending your entire existence in a warm, wet darkness and then one day something in your brain tells you to cut a slit into the only thing you've ever known. You see bright light for the very first time and hear something besides your own heart beating. Poor thing probably got overstimulated, its brain blue screened for a little bit, and snek.exe had to reboot.
I love seeing so many more people cooing over the babies, it’s so cute how excited everyone is!
