Sean from People & Songs here - I appreciate your sentiment I want to assure you that our standard is the same as it has always been. Our cultural, stylistic, and denominational diversity require a deep dependance on the Holy Spirit, so that we may be of one body and one spirit (Ephesians 4) We all discern and nip the spirit of "stardom" in the bud, the nature of our community and submitting to one another and the Holy Spirit has no room for that sort of thing, and we pray against it. We want to serve the bride of Christ and reach the lost as missionaries, in the way of Jesus.
I think perhaps, that what you may be experiencing here is the difference in vertical (upward) songs and Horizontal (outward) songs. Vertical songs are those being sung to and offered to the lord (easy to tell because they use "you" phrases) "You were you are and you'll be forever the king enthroned in glorious splendor". In vertical songs God is the audience.
This (and some of our other recent songs) is a horizontal song, sung to one another accomplishing a 2 fold purpose- a) to remind believers of Gods goodness, and b)invite the non believing listener to consider His goodness, to come taste and see that the Lord is good. These songs use "we/our" phrasing - "Look down OUR chains are on the floor!... Freedom is contagious! Come and Join US in His praise". In these horizontal songs the audience is one another, we are singing to one other.
There is a distinct Joy that is present when you sing about Gods goodness to one another and celebrate with one another - horizontally - And also a distinct transcendence in vertical songs, where we are joining heaven and singing exclusively to the lord and "being moved by the spirit". By nature these forms of musical expression can in fact look differently from one another.
You'll also find other songs from our community, for instance my storyteller songs, which tell biblical story in order to teach, or evangelistic songs that help communicate the human experience of life through the lenses of a Christ follower to an unbelieving world (you can hear these on our Turn Up The Lights album)
I think what makes my friends in the People & Songs community stand out is that they each have their own anointing and together can be used to carry out the many types of work of the ministry (Read 1 Corinthians 12) Because the Body of Christ is so diverse it makes sense that different people may be reached by the different styles, personalities, and expressions represented in our community, and we have come to expect it. What we are trying to be as a community are people who embrace deference (humble submission and respect.) over preference in the hopes that we can reach many and take part in preparing the way of the lord who is coming back for one pure and spotless bride.
Wesley, Mary Grace, and Libby are some of our younger members and (intern), who carry a wonderful childlike Joy of young faith that only ones in their teens and 20's carry- you can see it in their smile. This in fact looks different than the intensity of that of our older members in their 30's like Crystal, Charity, David. Or in the case of myself, whose wrinkled lines of a weathered life carry a necessary intensity, dependance, and longing that comes with the sorrow of increased wisdom. (Ecclesiastes 1:18)
Please, Please. Please! continue to pray for each of us and our ministry that we would live a life worthy of the call. (Ephesians 4:1)

My opinion and of course that is all this is, I can see both points. This is more rehearsed and staged. But the lyrics and the emotion in the voices is definitely there.
I’m constantly impressed by Wesley Nilson though. REELED AND ROCKED still my favorite by him for sure. The passion and authentic worship experience is over pouring in that video. I’m referring to the living room Facebook video, in case there is another one.
I think this was an honest critique from Amy Allen and not intended as an insult. Obviously we’re all fans of People &Songs.
