- Making a Film Company is a series about how it is to start and run a film production company with friends. And all the lovely, funny, quirky, sad and dramatic moments that come with a startup like this. Here is episode 1! See episode 2 here: • Our First Paid Project...
In this episode, we will explain how we went from working alone as freelance filmmakers, to gathering friends to work with. We will also talk about finding the name and who is in charge of the company.

Who else is missing Eskild? 😢 always bringing so much fun.
How do you meet people to work with? I think the best way is to attend events and ask people online to collab in film projects. This is how I (Anders) met the rest of the team:
Nicolai (Animator) was a friend of a friend since middle school. We didn´t meet that often, but when Nicolai finished studying animation about 6 years ago, we decided to work together and share a very tiny office.
Morten (Timelapser). We randomly ended up working with the same film producer and was collaborating on a film project about skateboarding on frozen sand and water. The film was called "Northbound" and is available for free on Vimeo: vimeo.com/208432684
Marius (Sound Designer) was doing the dubbing/sound design on the feature film I directed in 2011. We bonded quite fast and decided to work together when we randomly ended up at the same office space. You can see the trailer for the feature film we made here: ruclips.net/video/6DyYiVeopLM/видео.html
Thomas (Composer). He sent me a message about 7 years ago after seeing my homepage and RUclips channel. He liked the videos I made and wondered if I wanted to collab with him. When we first met, at a pizza place, something interesting happened. See what happened here: ruclips.net/video/MbT3uIhFKB4/видео.html
Harald (Actor and Director). I needed someone to play a Russian speaking character in the short film The Camera Hack. It was quite special how I ended up with Harald, just the day before shooting. See what happened in the BTS: ruclips.net/video/284eWP-9fqU/видео.html
Dmitry (Dronepilot) wrote a message to me on FB when he saw that we needed Russian speaking characters for The Camera Hack. How we met is also shown in the first episode of Behind The Camera Hack: ruclips.net/video/284eWP-9fqU/видео.html
Love it! Looking forward to the next episode! :)
:D
I understand your loss of Eskild. My closest friend died almost two years ago. April 2018. He was the most amazing kind hearted, young spirit I have and probably will ever know. The most beautiful person. And I definitely saw all those qualities in Eskild.
I'm so excited for this series! It feels very timely. I'm in a similar place, where I'm starting up a production company, and this is super encouraging and motivating to see! Great work guys! Congrats on Vjus!!!
As an aspiring filmmaker and cinematographer, I find this very inspiring. Can't wait for that next episode for the BTS content on that first project!
Am tearing up watching your guys video series, cos I'm literally watching how me and my friends started up.. And alot of decisions I regret making along the way... Thanks for inspiring us to grow and move up in realizing our dream
I'm hooked, love watching this story unfold! Such inspiration for an aspiring producer.
Coming back to this series... I’ve been showing this to people in the creative field, even if they are not a filmmaker... It serves as an amazing motivational piece. The rise and story of Vjus inspires me to keep on doing videography, despite people knocking me down. This is an extremely well produced docuseries. Major respect for you and the Vjus team!
And I... Remember my heart sank though hearing about the death of Eskild... To this day I am still sad about his joy and happiness he brought to the table. The death or loss of a friend is something hard to go through..
Awesome start to the series, can honestly say I'm excited to see the next episode. Much love from the U.S.
After all this waiting, finally coming back with full fury ahead
FREAKING APPRECIATED.. LOVE ALL OF IT.. I am starting my own Production Company. And this was my first video.. LOVE IT..
I’ve loved watching your journey! You’ve inspired me so much over the years! Thank you!
Wonderful premiere! I like the dynamic tension between the scenes and the fact that everyone was included in the video (which is also a nice tribute to Eskild!).
I can’t wait to watch this series of videos! Your openness in sharing your process and experiences has been very inspiring to me.
Sadly I am still always working alone.. I don't know anyone but I keep filming and rocking! Having to know the right people and trust each other is worth more than all the money in the world! Really enjoyed this video yet again Andyax! Keep rocking guys.
Congrats on sharing this experience with us...I’m 32 and I work with my mom as a 2 person team for our company. This year we’ve shot 21 short films together with just a crew of 2. We use to have more people on set back when we shot our first 3 feature films but there’s also a down side to bigger crews. You can’t move as fast through everything because everybody wants to feel important and like they contributed like one time the continuity person had us wait 20 minutes to fix an actors shoes that were laid on the ground and come to find out we never got them in the shot. You have these moments where people just start feeling they gotta say something and it ends up slowing us down. We like good ideas but it just turns into a headache sometimes when u got people always trying Direct over u or say suggestions out of line. So we narrowed down the crew to us 2 and it’s been great since we’re small and started a new company where we shoot reels for actors. Would be honored if you checked out our short films, they are all 4 to 8 minutes long and all shot for under $100 a piece. Keep going strong guys. First time watcher and now subscriber 😀
This is awesome! Your team spirit and passion is shining! Excited to follow your series.

This is great, I am glad RUclips has recommended this to me. A behind the scenes of a super creative production company, love it!

Do you want to help us translate this episode into your language? :) We would appreciate it a lot! And your name will be in the description. You can use this link: ruclips.net/user/timedtext_video?v=R3xoJt0tuiQ&ref=share
Can't get enough. Need more of this! I'm so used to binge series. So this gives me anxiety. Haha :D
I first watched this channel four years ago and started filmmaking. I made my first short film(2017, 26mins) using Canon C100 and made his web drama(2018, 45mins)) C200 mp4 and aired it on "Amazon Prime." This time, I made a feature film(2019, 71mins) using c200 RAW and supplied it to Korea's major distributor (Korea Telecom).
The next piece wants to make a feature film and get it in a theater as a commercial film.
From Seoul, South Korea Charlie.
That was amazing. looking forward to the next episode! THANK YOU for letting us be a part of this.
Thanks David :) If you have time, would you like to help us translate the subtitles in this episode to German? I'm guessing you are from Germany, hehe. If so, we would appreciate it a lot! You can do so by pressing the settings button in the videoplayer and then press "subtitles" and "add subtitles". You will then get your name in the description :)
I love this series idea so much. Thank you for making this!
This is awesome, experience is as if not more valuable than facts so learning from your experience is going to be great. Thanks a lot for making this series, I'm excited for what's following.
I'm starting to make a living as a freelance filmmaker and I learnt a lot of the basis of what I know from your RUclips channel. Never thanked you before so it's time to do so, you are a complete hero sir. Cheers from France.
🌱❤
Right, what I needed. At this point self. thank you for the inspiration.
CAN NOT WAIT MAN💪🏻
man... this was great !
ahhh yes I am re-watching this whole series.
You guys are awesome, you have inspired me, the first time I watch your video like a week ago, and it was about lighting (now I watched almost every video). I was quite depressed with my life and 'job', so I look back at the past like what I really love and enjoy back then, and it was film making, thank God I found your channel, once again, you inspire me so much, thank you
Thanks for your comment. We wish you good luck with your film projects :)
@@Andyax omg, thank you, wish the best for all of you too. keep making awesome content :D
I really like this. I’m a filmmaker from Canada and you guys are inspiring
Inspiring video, wish you all the best and look forward to see the other episodes!
Ahhh I was looking for the next part...... Subbed!!!!
"Vjus" or "vjūs" (longer "u") is exactly how Lithuanians could write it too. Facebook can be "feisbuk", YoTube can be "jūtub". Good job, guys!
Sooo I am following Morten a few years now and I saw he mentioned this company on his website. Ofcourse I had to watch this. I laughed my ass of at some parts😂 You guys rock!
I'm staying tuned for this...
Hey guys! I really love you videos :D "Making a Film Company" is like a full on Netflix documentary. You spend so much time in your vids and I love that :D

You guys are amazing. Great and wonderful idea. 😍❤️
THIS IS DOPE!!! LOVE IT! THANK YOU GUYS!
ahhhh this is amazing! I'm a solo freelancer right now but I'd love to do something like this one day so its really helpful to watch someone else do it.
Nice video! I really enjoy seeing what it takes for you guys to grow together and create the company. Subscribed! I look forward to watching more! Keep up the great work
Great share Andy, though the most important and interesting part about starting a production company is how do you share the profit? How do you value yours and other people's work, and who takes care of getting clients and branding, and how does that work on the scale of who gets how much
Good luck guys!
Great, great video and a likeable team.
Definitely worth the wait 🙏🏼
I`m really looking forward to follow Vjus. I`m inspired :)
Such an awesome series. Love this. Congratulations and keep up the great work! -new sub
