As a student of the late great legendary Don Butterfield, I commend your true and unembellished mastery, Justin. Authentic and straightforward excellence in every facet. You didn't hot dog around with the cadenza or do any showboating that less mature and less seasoned tubists sometimes fall into when at last they are afforded an opportunity in the spotlight. I played it on my Yamaha YBB321 BBflat. Those high tones make quick work of wrecking chops not up to the job on that horn. On a personal note, one of the greatest thrills of my life was when many years ago Harvey Phillips missed a connecting flight and I got to fill in for him at the dress rehearsal of this piece. Kinda wished it into being, maybe..... I close out with Don Butterfield's trademark "Straight Ahead!"
