has lost its meaning when the priest doesn’t have a problem with his daughter having a boyfriend. As if fornication is not a major sin. I’m sorry but Christianity is dead. The so called Christians of today are all liberals who just think they are Christians. Nobody here is bothered about why it is wrong for an unmarried girl to have sexual relationships because fornication is considered all normal now.
It’s a shame for those who call themselves Christians.

Sadly, I think refusing to believe she could've actually planned/wanted this, is the only way he can really cope with it. I was also pissed when I heard he has forgiven her and so soon, but it may not be such a positive experience for her. She wanted nothing more than her ENTIRE family dead, the parents likely more than the siblings . For her to get caught and wind up in prison for life (she thought her life was bad before, ha!) and still not have fully accomplished her goal of killing the ENTIRE family... for her father to survive- even tho she tried making sure everyone was deceased- must be so torturous for her...especially seeing him remarry and start a new family. These visits may not be so pleasant if she truly hated him as she seemed to have. I obviously don't know how she feels about the dad visiting her but even if they made her miserable, at this point she wouldn't show it as she needs his support to get an early release...and $$ on her books (for commissary).

So I'm thinking the 911 operator was relatively new; "Is he conscious?" " Yes." " Is he breathing?" I'm like...umm..Well he's conscious so I certainly hope so. Then insisting the caller stay on the line answering questions about the bleeding instead of saying something like put the phone down, don't hang up, go over to him and render any assistance you can to slow the bleeding, if possible come back to the phone. She must have been going off her question sheets thinking she'd needed to get it completely filled out.

She manipulated Charlie into killing her family when he seemed to have a lot of reservations. He said he couldn't bring himself to hurt the kids so he must of had some empathy and sense of right and wrong somewhere within him. Erin on the other hand didn't care one iota about her family. • @221BBakerStreet
      @221BBakerStreet 2 года назад +18

@@Griza_bella You're actually wrong about that. In regard to "Miller v Alabama" the court determined that mandatory life sentences without parole for juveniles who commit homicide was unconstitutional, thus illegal. However, juveniles may still be sentenced to discretionary life without parole for homicide cases but only after the sentencing court has determined, after a full hearing, that the youth is permanently incorrigible and incapable of rehabilitation. And knowing the degree of racism that exists in Alabama, I can imagine that quite a number of (black) juveniles would be found "incapable of rehabilitation" and sent to prison and forgotten. Also, in other states, the SCOTUS has only banned life without the possibility of parole for juveniles in non-homicide cases. If a juvenile has been charged with a homicide and found guilty, they can still spend the rest of their lives in prison. And just for clarity, the United States is the only country in the world that allows juveniles to be sentenced to life without parole even though it's condemned by international law. But of course it is.

I saw this story as told by Terry on I Survived. He's still adamant that his daughter wasn't the mastermind of the ordeal, although he does concede that she was involved. Though after hearing how she not only encouraged forcefully for her boyfriend to come back & carry out the plan, going as far as bringing the dog in which had originally spooked them off, but additionally had earlier asked a previous boyfriend to kill her parents, I don't see how he can't truly admit this fact to himself, even if only deep down in the back of his mind. A tidbit disclosed on I Survived was that Terry did originally awaken when he first heard the dog barking, only to assume it was nothing & fall back asleep. It's sickening to find out from this that the boyfriend & his accomplice (the 2 Charlie's) had left after this, only to b emphatically pressured to return & carry out the murders by his own daughter. As Terry explains, he came to after being unconscious for a time period & discovered the gory site of his almost beheaded wife. The main motivation for him to then make it to his neighbor's house & alert the authorities, possibly keeping him alive after being shot 11 times, was to save his daughter & 2 sons that remained in the house upstairs from where he was. Devastating to later realize that his daughter was safe alright, having snuck out before the fire was set, escaping with the other culprits of their horrendous attack planned together.
Just sad, truly sad & depraved. Love for one's child is a strong emotion. After losing everything, I can somewhat understand why he would forgive his daughter & maintain a relationship with the only surviving family member he has left.

My family was heavily abusive towards me when growing up, I was forced to care for my brother full time when I myself was a child because my mother didn’t want the responsibility, I had about 30% school attendance because I also had to care for her full time and was extremely isolated from others, I was neglected, psychologically abused, constantly gaslit, was the scapegoat child who was blamed for everything whilst my brother was the golden child, my mother enabled my brothers psychological abused towards me and his physical violence (sometimes hospitalising me with concussions/having been strangled), and when I escaped as soon as I could, the abuse just changed to become more psychological, attempts to control me, attempts to isolate me from others, stealing from me, homophobia, hardcore ableism and weaponising my disabilities.
Despite all of this, where all the abuse over time has given me permanent nerve damage where I’m mostly bedridden and walk with a cane, have cPTSD and PTSD, I never once considered killing the entire household, I just slowly limited contact and eventually spoke to my therapist about going full no-contact, they only tried contacting me to send homophobic and ableist abuse, to harass me, and to threaten me, so safe to say I’m never getting an apology or even recognition of their very clear abuse, I’m also okay with that fact, as I don’t want a false apology from my mother and brother, because I know they’d never actually feel sorry for their behaviour and constantly act like the victim to anyone who’ll pay them 5 seconds of attention, that my mothers “spiteful and hateful daughter” has “broken her heart”, etc etc.
I struggle to live with the physical and mental affects from such a brutal childhood, yet I’ve never once considered taking such drastic actions, I might not be loved by my biological family and have come to terms with that lack of love and their abuse, that doesn’t mean I’d consider literally murdering my entire family. Like, WTAF

Similar background, add in that extremely abusive mother was raised in what is arguably a cult that her father controlled, and that cult was a super messed up version of conservative Christianity. Physical 'discipline' started at the age of 2. Everything she did was justified by God, because he'd given her authority over me and apparently he's morally perfect, and therefore above reproach, and she was basically just as much above reproach as he was. And, even as an adult, I was firmly told more than once, after getting backhanded across the face, that I "was not now nor would ever be her equal."
There's a reason I walked away from that faith and will never go back.
She also forced my sister and I to go to a conservative religious school because she didn't want us learning anything from the 'godless liberal' public schools. She ignored our constant complaints about being mistreated, ignored the obvious signs in my sister's behavior that she was being sexually abused by our pedophile principal, and was absolutely despicable when she was told by my 8th grade volleyball coach that I'd confessed to wanting to kill myself. Egg donor asked if I wanted therapy, I said it wouldn't do any good, because the kids at school (didn't dare put any blame on her, even though she carried the most of it) were still alive, and the problem wasn't going to go away until they were dead.
For some reason, instead of being alarmed that her suicidal daughter wanted her abusive peers to die, she decided I was just trying to get attention, and continued ignoring all the signs of abuse and moral breakdown in her kids, because that was an acceptable price to pay to keep us out of public school.
After that, I dreamed almost every night of the rest of my childhood and on into my 20s of fighting back whenever she'd hit me and making sure it'd be the last time she ever hit me again. If she's gone, she can't hurt me. Simplified and unethical reasoning, I know, but at the time, there was literally no other way that I'd be able to escape.
I would never have followed through; she's not worth the jail time, and it'd've kept me from caring for my cats, who are far more important than she will ever be. I've also settled down since then (which probably is hard to believe with this comment), and I no longer have any desire to so much as throw a pillow at her, much less cause actual physical harm. She's not worth it. So now I just keep hoping something else will get her so my sister and I can be free. We both feel the same way, and every single one of our friends who have met her hated her from second 1. It's in her eyes: pure indoctrinated evil.
Not saying that Erin didn't have some major issues beyond being in a "good Christian family" who were "involved in the church" that her dad was preacher at. (You cannot convince me that there wasn't at least some religiously-motivated psychological abuse in that house.) But with the rest of her behavior, it's obvious that is nowhere *near* her entire reason, and it's possible if it wasn't her parents (and her brothers, wtf?????), it would've been someone else later down the line. I'm just saying, don't ever dismiss the effects of religious abuse and the moral breakdown it can cause.

I feel that Charlie seemingly having at least some remorse and the fact that he supposedly attempted to sway Erin is saddening. If true, then it's even more saddening that he couldn't stop it.
However, despite all of that, I honestly can't believe what he said during that phone call.
But still, the most horrific part of it all is the fact that Erin herself planned everything. Planning to kill her own family, even two young kids. Charlie saying that he disliked the thought of killing the two boys is at least somewhat less disturbing, but Erin, the SISTER, saying that she wanted them to be dead and gone is gruesome, sad, and absolutely disgusting.
Going back to Charlie, I feel that Erin's plan to murder her whole family already existing before he ever got with her is sad. Him not knowing that it would eventually become a factor, and then being pulled into it in order to stay with the girl he loves. That, to me, really makes it difficult to judge. I can't believe what he said during that phone call, with all that "inevitable" shit. But what I CAN believe is that he likely didn't have any idea of what the girl really wanted until later.
Erin being the one that gets parole in the future is truly shocking to me, as she was quite literally the one who planned everything from start to finish. She should be getting life in jail for ever coming up with a plan like that in the first place.
Overall, insanely good documentary. These videos are honestly interesting and educational, at least to me. Looking over different cases like these is helpful in trying to understand how different people might think.

I have always heard most murders are committed by someone close to the victim, like a family member. Is it that psychopaths are so rare that when they commit murder their target is different (for whatever reason) and since they are rare they are just outliers in the statistics of who a murderer is likely to target...a stranger or family/friend?

I’ve seen this case before but never in this much detail. Good job EWU crew!

You should really cover the case of Lori Vallow and Chad Daybell.

“Contrary to his plan, murdering four people and setting a house on fire would prove to NOT be his best approach.” The narration on that was crisp.
This story is truly dark and malicious.
