    Mercedes-Benz launches a lot of cars. Just take a look at the number of different product lines it has on its books. Most of them are unreserved success stories, but once in a while a problem child emerges. Step forward the B-Class. In no way a bad car, the B-Class never really recovered from its tough start in life. It's one of those vehicles that, as a consequence, makes a much better used buy than new purchase. Here's what to look for.

    Been driving the 2010 w245 for the last 3 years. Apart from the regular changes like oil and tires (which was needed), it’s one of the most practical cars I’ve ever driven

    bought a 2011 B200 . about 2 years ago now . original battery has died last winter, replaced , original tires , popped , replaced , back window wiper arm broke off during a non touchless car wash , replaced , and now I'm changing the original brake pads and rotors . for an 11 year old car with almost 100 thousand kilometers on it I'd say that's a pretty good deal for the 9,200 cdn dollars I spent .

      If it is not super high milage or the gearbox is CVT with no oil change in its previous life than it will be okay..these little multi carrier tractor's are very crash save (hence the odd construction) and they are basic enough to be reliable if treated normally

      @@kitecattestecke2303 hey, what happens if the gearbox is CVT or have it oil change in its previous life?

    • @kitecattestecke2303
      @kitecattestecke2303 2 года назад +2

      @@mohammedkazeem6840 it will last long, the cvt gearbox will not break like on a nissan or other cheap small cars. The belt drive is very modern with rubber that can withstand oil easy and steel braiding inside, the outsider of the belt is steel plated like a dinosaurs back or fish with steel Plates that rub on different sizes of steel drums.
      I have driven w169 and t245 both CVT with 235.000km+ so the gearbox can last, it shifted like CVT does
      Steel on steel is low friction and lasts if oil is changed and use as mediator. The cvt can reach high milage in town driving with insane amounts of shifts if service is done right, which is usually not...
      Oil change on cvt is mandatory at every 60.000km or earlier! I would do it every 5years with less milage just to have fresh oil.
      And BTW, don't take it apart it is complex :-9 strap it to palette and ship to expert firms for reconditioning if you breaks it ...

    Can not afford new cars or their prices, so I buy "used" with 150 to 200 Kms usually and have continued to do many searches and reviews to determine the best and I have to say I like the design of this M B series, as mentioned a practical design interior wise. Similar to the Mazda 5. But CVT transmission are not reliable in the long run on any car. That is just the history of this transmission design from what I gather. And my go to transmission guy says stay away from cars with such if you do not want the price of a rebuild. So in essence these are disposable cars. Cheaper to install for the manufacturer but a dead horse for the potential owner and not worth the trouble for a used owner unless you get it for a cheap price, knowing you most likely will have to replace the tranny. Just saying.

      Yes they are nice cars and very basic reliable cars a little reminiscent of the old W123/w124 times if you look for the design rules.. Safety first, less complexity yet heavy axle, springs for a tiny car compared to others. The doors shut beautiful, replacement parts are cheap so if you wrench its nice

    Don’t buy B or A class!!! TCU issue is chronic on these models cvt transmission. I have changed TCU 4 times. After using it a couple of days, it started not shifting(like always drives at 2500-3000rpm) and when l release the gas to slow down and maintain the space between me and the car front, it’s like the car was hitting back and forth.

    Mercedes are smart. They made a car for the working class so they can rip them off.
    Most unreliable car. Be ready to spend every now and then on suspension, joints, and the fuel consumption is more costly than a wife with an eye for designers fashion items.
