Some have a line on the body that has a downward angle, which represents the flow path through a globe valve. That may be what you are referring to. This alone does not indicate flow however, but for general service, you install with the angled downward part facing up stream so the flow enters below the plug and flows up through the port.

I seen some valve bodies have a line on it instead of a flow arrow? Is the line an indication for flow?
