I agree! I think they’re best for people that really like to listen to the interviews vs. those that just use it as background before bed. But…all of them say it’s really hard on the host, they need/want the response of a larger, studio audience. So I’ve started listening to podcasts. I’m a Smartless subscriber as well as Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend, but then I wish I could watch them do the interview. 🤷♀️
Always great when Stephen is caught off guard and laughs so hard, this has got to be the champion laugh till he cries time. Made me laugh out loud and that's always a feel good moment.
Will Arnett is an under-appreciated talent with a unique perspective on life. I wish him much deserved ongoing work and look forward to his continued success. ❤️
While I enjoyed Will in Arrested Development and as Lego Batman, I only listened through my headset so I kept imagining it was an interview with Bojack Horseman lol
Legit: I do like this meta thing that's starting to emerge of... ya know, 10 minutes a guest, churn churn churn, sure. It's the glib hamster-wheel of network late-night. But Stephen's starting to slip into satirizing the whole act, which I LOVE and really kinda makes it special.
I love when Colbert has another comedian on. It's just like they're at a bar laughing their asses off. None of the real questions get in and it's just two friends going at it (even if they've literally never met before)... there's a shared approach to life.
@@nicolenecsefor7912 Yes, its so much better! One staff member laughing in the background is much more impactful than a huge crowd that laugh and clap at everything.
3:33 “... And it turns out he [Paul McCartney] was in a rock band, and that was fun to hear.” Those last six words made me laugh even harder for some reason.
This is face-hurts-from-smiling-so-much funny! I was happy-laugh-crying right along with Mr. Colbert and Arnett in his black lego box sound studio. Superbly delightful xoxo
Newfie fact from a Newfie: Newfoundland isn't actually a Maritime province. It's an Atlantic Canadian province, along with the three other Maritime provinces (New Brunswick, PEI, Nova Scotia), but the other three are the only three that are actually "the Maritimes". This may seem like a distinction without a difference but I assure you, Newfoundlanders all know this. (It has to do with us joining Confederation really late on, ie 1949.)
Sitting here in Halifax, I'm livid that Nfld was highlighted in a list of maritime provinces and Nova Scotia didn't even get a mention. I guess that we should be grateful to be known at all, and that they didn't say "New-Finland"
As a Nova Scotia as well, given the nature of the conversation about 'the Maritimes' I was mildly amused that we weren't brought into the fray about sliding into the Atlantic.... Does Will Arnett even know how much fun Halifax is?
I'm from Montreal, my girlfriend and I were watching this and we pressed pause to say "Oh my god, that didn't sound french, it kinda sounded like Quebec French" and then he said the thing about that's how they'd call Colbert in Quebec.......I have to say, I'm pretty impressed mister Arnett :)........To be fair, People here pronounce Stephen Colbert the way everyone does, but the joke was still funny.....And thank you very much for saying Quebecois instead of Quebecers, a lot of people here really do appreciate that.
It’s moments like these 12:26 that will be lost when you move back in front of the audience where you’re expected to hold it together and be like well…a lego asking questions. Going back to .. “so I heard you bought a house”. While the pandemic has been terrible, your interviews have become literally more progressively authentic, Mr. Colbert. I hope you can take what you’ve learned from this experience and somehow incorporate it into a show with a live audience.
Another great interview. I can't believe they didn't mention Flaked; Arnett is great in that Netflix show. Thanks for the podcast SmartLess tip, it's great!
just watched Hot Rod BABE BABE NO BABE WAIT BABE BABE BAAAAAAAAAAABE WAAAAAAIIIIII- and when he asked "do you like good times" I thought he meant the show Good Times 🤣
This podcast is my fave currently, that kind of chemistry is hard to come.... BYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
Bwa-ahaha!! Hilarious!
Best podcast ever!
I read that as if they were saying it 😂
Byeeeeeeee
so true
BYYYEEEEEEEEE!!
"first of all: full offence taken" 😂
I've never seen Stephen have so much fun before. These relaxed, uncut interviews are so much better than the stuff that's edited for time.

Taking a cue from Conan, and it works!
@@carolz5090 I have a hard time listening to Podcasts without seeing them also but I have been getting use to it. Love Smart Less and Conan too!
I agree. I hope they keep this style of interviewing.
It works because Will Arnett carried the interview.
Always great when Stephen is caught off guard and laughs so hard, this has got to be the champion laugh till he cries time. Made me laugh out loud and that's always a feel good moment.
That was my favorite moment of the interview, I laughed so hard. I really needed that.
I never heard of “throwing and going”. Then all of a sudden “all the taps are open” hilarious!!!
Finally a name to put what happened after attending a wedding that served some kind of stuffed chicken🤢

And you thought having the tub so close to the toilet was a bad idea (based on a true story of an ex that could not hold her booze!).
This is soooooooooo goooooooooood. My favorite interviews are when we just watch two people truly enjoying each other. The best.
Will has the most gorgeous voice. Just love it. "Turns out Paul was in a rock band. Who knew?".
Will Arnett is an under-appreciated talent with a unique perspective on life. I wish him much deserved ongoing work and look forward to his continued success. ❤️
He's really VERY smart, too. Knowledgeable about geography, remembers dates, and everything! Which I would've never known if not for Smartless! ❤👏🏼🗣😊😂
Wow, the genuine laughs are great.
"Only through a window on a streetcorner" fucking killed me.
Will is hysterical, Stephen is actually crying with laughter!

@Robert Fritzenkotter lol what a triggered baby
@Robert Fritzenkotter oh shut up
This is one of the most randomly chaotic interviews I've seen Colbert do... It's hilarious... Will Arnett is such a sweetheart
The bathroom talk reminds me of George Costanza knowing all the best bathrooms in NYC
oh the good old days
Costanza is in everything.
No encumbrances.
It was disgusting.
So hilarious. My face is red. “Do you like good times?”😂
We need more Stephen and Will Arnett interviews!
One of the funniest interviews in recent memory.
"... Do like good times?" I'm in tears laughing. Didn't expect to laugh so much. LMBOO
“All the taps are open” … hand gestures!!! Giggleliciousness supreme!!!
Probably the best interview we've had during COVID. Thanks Steve and Will. I'm crying I am laughing so hard :D
While I enjoyed Will in Arrested Development and as Lego Batman, I only listened through my headset so I kept imagining it was an interview with Bojack Horseman lol
What is this, a crossover episode?
Too happy to be Bojack.
Yea I know him best from Bojack

He will ALWAYS be Bojack to me.,,, greatest animated adult cartoon, ever!
One of the funniest interviews I’ve seen in a long time, wiping away tears of laughter here!! Thank you guys 🤣🤣
omg, I’ve never laughed so hard at any Stevens interviews, Will is hilarious.

Jerry Seinfeld has this Netflix show.
"Just cut the bridge and let them float away"- tell us how you really feel about PEI Will! 😂
This interview went places that I never expected it to go.
Got to be one of the best interviews Stephen has ever given.
Given,? Done.
i am going to miss Stephen doing all this without a crowd. I like it more.
I wont be surprised if the theater is spliced with some of this home facetime feeling interviewing.
Me too!! I like this format much better.

Arnett earned EVERY minute of that interview!

Will Arnett in Let's go to Prison is priceless...amazing, hilarious guy. 😆

What a fun interview to watch! One of the funniest ever in the home setting. Thanks Stephen & Will. *still drying my tears*
Will Arnett is such a delight! I ran out of interviews of him and now I NEED MORE
Epic piece of television! Colbert has really nailed the remote format and I'm going to miss that, come June 14.
One of the funniest interviews ever on Colbert. Arnett is a riot. I never saw Stephen laugh so much.
I have watched this clip from day one. I always come back to watch it for a laugh, it helps on bad days.
Watching this fall apart like Lego made me so happy 😂
Why does it look like Will is in a soundproofed accessible toilet? Amazing interview!

And you can’t dislike Newfie’s, they are the nicest people but Québécois are probably the most racist and least nicest people in Canada. 😂
To the rest of Canada, Newfoundland absolutely is part of the maritimes.
People dont give a crap so hard, that all of canada refers to ontario as the east coast.
That was such a fun interview!
Us sitting here in New Brunswick, "Yeah, he mentioned us!"
This interview was amazing 😂🤣
Leave it to a Canadian to make a reality show about literally building people up with adored childhood blocks.
I love how he became Gob half way through the interview lmao
holy crap. One of the best interviews Ive seen 😂😂😂😂😂 Love Will Arnett! The man can do no wrong 😂😂
Will Arnett can voice over Seth Rogen and make him say whatever he wants.
Was thinking the same thing. lol
Saaaame!! Jajaja
lol ya...Canukians
He would have to take out some of the gravel and add some juice, though. Not sure if he could pull it off, but I'd very much like to see him try.
Well, he can voice over Bojack and do anything
love it been there done that "all the taps are open" WOW
I am really curious now how they cut this for the airtime, because I mainly watch it via youtube. Lol
This was my most favorite interview Stephen has done EVER.
"When did you know it'd be a hit?". "Probably around the time Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes came on board.".
I’ve never seen Stephen enjoy a guest so much!
This is in the style of Conan's recent interviews; just get a great guest and talk for 20-30 minutes. Literally the best.
this is everything i needed this week, stephen always comes through :')
I just came back to watch this for a third time and laughing just as hard as the first!
So true. Ritz Carlton New Orleans. Fantastic spot for a deuce.

The irony of having such a great voice, sitting in an audio booth with a dedicated microphone and still having your sound recorded by a laptop mic… :)

The correct response: "I'm Batman."
Will's Quebec reaction was likely due to the good ol' hockey game tomorrow night GO LEAFS!
