Harris Bhai I know this Shia Aalim personally his name is Shahryar Raza Abidi, I live in the USA and he used to come and read Muharram Majlis about 10/12 years ago in Houston Texas.
A very knowledgeable man, and an open critic of religious fanaticism and religious based violence.
I haven't spoken to him in 10 years but from what I remember, religious violence and fanaticism was always something he brought attention to and spoke against. Although in his personal life he is a very obersvant Shia Muslim, and he does follow all the rules 😅. But he wasn't particularly a supporter of Iran from what I could tell. He never really praised them or even mentioned them.
All in all, this guy was a pretty good guy and he was very nice to all of us (we were teenagers at the time). Many other Aalims didn't have the same happy and calm attitude towards us which he had.
