I go to Vegas fairly often and fairly often I stopped at the alien jerky however, it has been a minute now since I've been to Vegas, they have done a lot of upgrades & Now a Hotel wow.
The Greek has changed and I didn't know about the ice cream place good job I appreciate it.

The first Del Taco started in Barstow which I guess why they have some old time items on the menu.I miss the bun taco I wish they offered them at all locations.

Derrick you're so funny. I love that we have the same tastes in food choices. You were in heaven with the bun taco at Del Taco. I used to love it when it was served at all the locations. The giant thermometer was always our to go stop when it was called Bun Boy.Pulled in one time and it read 120° at 1pm....

Baker has sure grown up. In the 90s the restaurant next to the thermometer was a coffee shop and was pretty much it. I ran bus trips to Vegas from Cali every weekend in the 90s. We always knew we had an hour to go before our first stop.in Primm when we saw the big thermometer.

last time I drove from LA to Vegas was way back in 2002 - man I do miss that drive, open desert, Barstow outlets...one time I drove from LA to Vegas via Pahrump through Death Valley, and man talk about isolated and desolate!
Good idea to do a road trip. We drive from the central Valle and enjoy it. The trip itself is fun. We have our traditional stops

My husband & I used to drive from the LA area to Vegas frequently during the late 1970's through the `90`s. We always made a point of stopping in Baker, which was definitely a lot more desolate back then. We'd always go to the coffee shop next to the Chevron ( I think it was a Denny's). The place, especially in the middle of the night, always had a weird, Twilight Zone kind of vibe. Interesting to see how the place has grown. Thanks for the memories, Derek!

The bun taco hahaha sweet.
Taco Bell used to sell a taco in a bun called the Bell Beefer, which I've been craving for decades. Good to know about Dell Taco in Barstow.
Yes, and on the original menu, as I remember from the 60s, the Bell Beefer was called the Bellburger and it was good. But the green burrito was the star of the show.
The Bellbeefer was great! I believe that Taco Bell retired it in the late 80's. Wish they'd bring it back. It had Taco Bell beef, shredded cheese and diced tomatoes on a cheap bun with their red sauce.
Taco Bell has some of the most Frankensteinian food concoctions. Why not reintroduce the Bellbeefer?

Other Del Taco locations will make a bun taco, you just have to ask for it, also the original Del Taco is in downtown Barstow across the street from the high school. 😉
