I think that is up there with the best cars you have highlighted Denis. A literal 1 of 1 car that never was. Making something that never existed like that, and making it look like it was factory-made is unbelievable. It looks flawless, and I doff my hat to the gentleman who invented it. Superb work.
What a beautiful job, even with putting the 3800 super charged V6 in it, that was a shocking surprise. I was expecting either 425 2-4’s or a 455 2-4’s.
Beautiful looking car. I've seen Buick Sport Wagons before, but nothing like this. I love that they kept everything on this car Buick, right down to the Grand Sport and Grand National. Awesome combination!
Watching from Rhode Island-Dennis-nice to see MCC is still original and unrestored. And to BUMAD guy-you deserve the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Peace-bros!
I've seen many Supercharged 3800 Buick engines in the salvage yards and have always wanted to pull one and drop it in my Chevy S10. After watching this video I'm now more inspired to do so.
@@patkane761 No doubt. What boggles the mind is... -GM placed this great engine in a boring sedan. Such a waste. -No one I've found (s10forum.com) has pulled off this feat of engineering. Maybe I'll be the first ;~}
@@johna.4334 Good luck 👍 I'm also on S-10 forum and looked into putting the GSX intercooled turbo on my 4.3,no one has done it yet that I can find. Maybe I'll be 1st for that?
@@patkane761 Well good luck with that project. Note: If it were me I'd scrap that 4.3L (old design, Chevy 350 minus two cylinders) and replace it with a more advanced 3.8L type II or type III engine. Yes, a lot more work involved but worth it in the long run.
@@johna.4334 idk, I think I just want to be different. I also have a 97 vin X 5spd that has an overall 6 1/2" lift and it's RWD... I like to be different
The work and thoughtfulness that went into this car is astounding. I probably would have gone with a nicely built Buick 350 emulating the 1970 GS350 specs, (like I did with my 1964 Skylark) but I certainly would not have achieved 30mpg! I have seen other wagon conversions of various makes, but this one is by far my favorite.
WOW, AWESOME, BEAUTIFUL AND FLAWLESS!!!! I love those mid 60s Sport Wagons and this custom mod is exactly what Buick and GM should have built. Great video and awesome Buick 👍👍
I took a few pictures of that car about 25 years ago at a swap meet in Glendale AZ. It had AZ plates at the time, and did not have the dealer emblem on the tail gate. It was the best phantom of it's kind I had ever seen.
The car you speak of belonged to "fender" Joe Altoonian out of Tucson I believe...he lives at swap meets. I've been to his house and seen it in his garage. His looked identical to this car only without the goofy motor. It was built by a guy named Kenny out of Wisconsin. Knowing Joe , he sold it by now. I think it may be the same car and this guy may be trying to steal the credit after a refresh and motor swap.....either that or there are 2 identical ones out there. I clicked on this because I thought it was his car.
@@chevelleranch7481 Going over the pictures and comparing them, it looks like the same car, or a crazy coincidence that two of them were built the exact same way right down to the proportions and dimensions. I'm calling this as the same car, and the current owner as not being entirely truthful. It's interesting that the name of the other owner was Fender Joe, because the car had parts in the back, and I clearly remember that one of the parts was a '57 Chevy front fender.
@@mattfarahsmillionmilelexus I'm convinced its the same car as well. I have not talked to Joe in about 7 years. The last time I was at his place he was selling stuff off and going to retire and move to New Mexico. I have bought many things from him , and the last thing was a 62 Olds jetfire that was sitting in his garage with the Buick wagon. The wagon had a small block chevy in it at that time. I swear its the same car. Joe was into some wacky stuff including a 66 el camino made into a wagon and toyota powered and also a 68 firebird that was toyota powered. I will be looking into contacting Joe to see if he sold it. He called it the "one of none" production car!
My friends parents bought a new 64 Buick Sport Wagon, loved sitting in the back seat and that Vista dome is really cool, still remember a 1966 or 67 trip from our neighborhood to lake Tahoe up I-80 over the Donner summit
There is a first for everything and I am really glad to have come across this video. While watching it and listening to all of the conversions this man did, I cannot help but to think of the time and monies spent making this magnificent one-of-a-kind wagon. What a gem! Thanks for sharing this.
Those supercharged 3800s really are fantastic engines. They are so smooth and easy going. You don't need to rev them up to 6Gs to make power. There's also plenty of headroom to make more power by changing the SC pulley and/or other engine parts. 350-400hp wouldn't be out of the question.
Very unique build. The man has thousands of hours in this beauty with all the modifications involved. I would have liked a longer side view since that is where most of the changes were made to make it the master piece it is.
I agree, you MUST use the far superior Buick engines in a Buick. A person with such attention to detail and pride of work probably would not dump a Chevy small block in his pride and joy.
Absolutely gorgeous car and such brilliant workmanship. Fun fact Buick front wheel drive V6 engines were used in rear wheel drive Holden Commodores for years from the 1989 VN here in Australia. Unfortunately Holden didn’t redesign the engine layout so things like thermostats were a bitch as they were located near the firewall.
Buick owes him a LOT MORE than a steak dinner! Beautifully done! That dealer name plate on the tailgate is the same one as a couple of Ramblers that I owned, except for the dealers name. That plate was used by many dealers across the country. Nice to have a piece of chrome instead of a paper sticker. My dealer was in Philadelphia. They sold Nashes, Ramblers and Chryslers and Plymouths. The dealer was Gegnas.
I wonder what a two door 1970 Olds Vista Cruiser 442 would look like? This Buick lets me know that it can be done. Absolutely fantastic job on the Buick!
OMG! I always wanted to do EXACTLY that! I had a 1965 Skylark Gran Sport years ago, and loved that year of Buicks! I also wanted to build a "Buicamino" based upon a Buick A body and an El Camino.
They did make a Buick sport wagon. 2 door ,I know a guy in Angola New York, just outside Buffalo. Who has 1 Red with white top, and it's in mint condition. Beautiful car.
the Buick sport wagon was a beautiful car, this one is over the top!! I wish they still made station wagons, but nooooo, everything is SUV, in black, white, or gray, with tombstone gray, or coffin black interior. we are told what we will have! how sad the car market has become...
30 mpg with style? I'm sure it's more like high 20's but that's still insane. The guy knows he made something nice and has every right to be proud of the work here.
I'M IN LOVE WITH THIS WAGON IT'S BEAUTIFUL AS IT CAN BE...🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
What a mechanical genius! And two doors on a station wagon? Yes!!
I love a 'never was' car, the whole idea is fascinating: but this is just stunning, a whole other level.

The best wagon I’ve ever seen!
this car and owner are the reason I love the car community. The people with such passion for cars and the history behind them.

As cool as a big block would've been, the 3800 was a great idea. Those were insanely reliable. I've seen my fair share with 300k on them.
Awesome! That is what I call a stealth custom. My favorite kind.

What a beautiful job and very meticulous!
Yes this car is just gorgeous and beautifully built and designed
AWESOME MASTERPIECE by BUICK.

I LOVE seeing how clever some people can be
We had 2 Buick Wagons growing up a '65 & '67. Both Sport Wagons. Us kids loved the roof windows a lot.

This looks great! Chevy did make a few 2 door wagons in the mid 1960's based on the similar Chevelle platform.
...and in the '50s there was the '57 Chevy Nomad two-door wagon.
I remember the 2 door chevells ,I don't recall seeing one fully loaded, they were just basic.

Two-door Chevelle wagons?
I remember reading once they made 7 two door Nova/Chevy II wagons.
I think those were basic “sedan delivery” types used by drugstores and flower shops. This thing looks like a proper gentleman’s shooting brake.
Wow!... Thanks for Sharing... This Guy went the Extra Mile on this one... and it Shows!
