This 60yo granny agrees. She is one of a very few who I believe actually reads the book. She remembers the plot, the twists, and the characters names. I watch other booktube channels and they are always looking up the names etc. I often wonder if they read the whole book. Well, Haley, a trip to Barnes and Noble is in order...poor me, lol.
you've really made me try reading out again, after years of me just not being able to sit down and properly read a book, thank you so very much, Haley. the series this year that managed to hook me back in was Heartstopper, which i know are graphic novels, but the story is so incredibly interesting and well told, that it made me crave more as soon as i finished them (at least what's out), so i got Alice Oseman's entire bibliography. i wholeheartedly recommend all of it!
I started reading the cruel prince but the first chapter or so was boring so I stopped and I can't find any good books to read atm. I've read 200 books last year. Basically, all the popular ones and I'd love if someone could recommend me some good ones for 2023.
I love your videos. They made reading so much more fun. My five stars were: - The folk of the air trilogy - The American Roommate experiment (romcom) - Serpent and Dove (only book 1 - fantasy romance) - Addicted to you - A good girl's guide to murder (book 1 - have no read book 2 or 3 yet - mystery thriller) - Ruthless rival (contemporary romance) - Crazy for this girl (contemporary romance) - Pride and prejudice (literary classic romance) - The deal (contemporary romance) - His and hers (mystery thriller)
I read Better Than The Movies this month and WOW WOW WOW IM IN LOVE. I haven’t read a book that made me feel like that in a while and I have extreme book hangover from it 😅
Highly recommend the original Mistborn trilogy (1-3) by Brandon Sanderson. It's a complete trilogy on its own and was one of the series that propelled me to try out more of the high/epic adult fantasy.
I read the cruel prince series because of you and absolutely loved it!! You got me out of my reading funk with it and I couldn’t be more grateful. You always have the best recommendations ❤❤ now I just need to read better than the movies 😊
Haley I highly recommend last time I lied by Riley Sager! It’s my favourite of his and has a summer camp / woods type setting which I think you’d love!!

i know it’s been forever since they came out but could you please do a video about reading all the harry potter books in a week. i’m sad it’s been 20 yrs since the movies and i’ve been craving HP content lately. love your channel and how you openly share your faith 🤍
The only reason I bought Dial A for Aunties was how when you first showed it to us, you described everything I wanted to hear in a book. I ended up getting it for christmas and I am so excited to read it!
I am so happy you talked about Mary Jane. That is one of the best books I read last year and it is SO UNDERRATED AND HILARIOUS!!! I would seriously recommend it to anyone - so good and wholesome
Haley if you liked the Dance of Thieves Duology, you would love the Remnant Chronicles! It’s by the same author in the same world but chronologically comes before Dance of Thieves. It’s a phenomenal series and you can really fly through it!
I started reading again this year and I was so happy to see you were making book videos because I had also juts gotten back into watching your videos after like 3 years and it has helped me grow and learn about new books so much!!!!
i literally can’t express how amazing the cruel prince series is like i read it in 2020 and like you, didn’t love the first book cos i thought cardan was mean LOL but oh my god the second book blew me away. but recently i reread the series and I ADORE THE FIRST BOOK NOW. it just hits different when you know what happens and you can appreciate all the foreshadowing and characters. the romance is incredible but very much a subplot which makes it even better honestly because i was so eager for it. there is no enemies to lovers that even comes close which makes me sad but i just keep wanting to read it LOL but also the plot is so interesting and the main character jude is literally the best morally grey character and i adore her and her development
I have literally enjoyed watching your booktube videos all throughout 2022! You have genuinely encouraged me to read more books and expand the genres that i read. We love you Haley
Haley probably won’t see this, but thanks for making me fall back into love with reading. Every time I finish watching a book video of yours, it makes me motivated to pick up and read a book❤
Haley, love your reviews. I really enjoyed 'The Siberia Job' a white-knuckle ride! The author expertly captures the chaos of post-Soviet Russia with a flair for tension and historical detail. It's a 'can't-put-down' kind of book - fast-paced, exhilarating, and packed with suspense!
My top read(s) of 2023 so far: Shatter Me Series - Each book is a 5 star book. My favorite series of all time Michael Vey - The whole series is like 4.5 stars. The 9th book is out this month! Letters to the Lost - 4.75 stars, great book! The Sun is Also a Star - Love Nicola Yoon, great romance book! 4.5 stars. The Hunger Games - 5 stars, one of my favorite series. These are pretty much all the books I’ve read this year, lol. Just got back into reading like 6 weeks ago, so all of these I’ve read in the past 6 weeks.
I love no spice . I used to search for hours for the books having no spice because most youtubers are so crazy about thr spice and fantasy only.....well that obviously there choice......,..but you are the only booktuber I know who suggests actually clean books . I am 17 and have been reading for a year now and had read about 20 + novels most of them are YA romance. So you are the person I was searching for so long. I really lovr your recommendations. I know I am too late for this video but I love the books you suggest and talked about here.....Will definitely give them a try...... Sending lots of love to you...❤❤❤
I've loved your reading videos so much!!!! I always get excited when I see you posted a new one!! I'm currently reading the ballad of never after, I'm loving it! And it's really great to hear your reviews of books because we have such similar reading tastes! Here's some recs that I think you might like, they're some of my favorite series. -the school for Good and evil -we were liars (have you read this? I can't remember) -renegades - mistborn (if you're looking for a bit of a more advanced fantasy series? Not that it's more difficult to understand or anything, it's just written more for adults? But there's no spice!) -the name of the wind (again, similar to mistborn in it's writing style)
spock is such a crucial part of this channel. i love just watching him sit on Haley's lap and the way he keeps putting his paw on her hand when she's gesticulating and he looks up to see her face ah its everything to me
For the book “the house across the lake”, there actually is a movie that is very similar to it called the voyagers. it’s about two people who move into a apartment and they can see the people across the street because their apartment is almost entirely glass. There are some “scenes” but it’s actually really good.
VIDEO SUGGESTIONS: would you consider making a video talking about all the romance books you’ve read that do not have spice or very little spice? Also what about a video talking about reading those romance books with spice while also being a Christian and how to go about that? (Like if you should or shouldn’t because of the content). Love all your reading videos!
I know a lot of people didn't "like" the first book (cruel prince).I LOVED IT I ran to bookshop as fact I could and read second and third book in one day .My fav books of all time 5 stars all of them.
@@claudiaelenariveron3430 Its a fantasy world and theres 2 mortal sisters that were taken from earth and the rest are faerie and then a prince bullies her and then something with the high crown idk but its rlly good
There's actually a prequel series to dance of wolves called The Remnant Chronicles! I think some things might be a little spoiled since you've already read that duology but might still be fun since you liked it so much
Just watching your videos has changed my life. I’ve loved reading more because of your videos and I love your videos just so much. Like you always make me smile and am always looking forward for your videos so thank you for sharing this with us and thanks for giving me ideas for books 🫶🏻
I wished I watched this before starting reading the roughest draft because yes I was one of those people who actually had a hard time reading it because I had initially thought coming into that book that it’s a rom com so the transition from expecting a funny light read to a serious emotional read is like eating a donut expecting it to be sweet and then it’s suddenly salty
Hi Haley ! My fav book that I read this year is definitely Eleanor Oliphant is completely fine by Gail Honeyman ! It’s such a good book and had me so attached to the main character I literally cried at the end !! I can’t recommend it more please try it out, it was super hyped up a few years ago so in my opinion definitely worth the read :)
Hailey, you should read "Wait for it" by Mariana Zapata, it was one of my five stars romances of the year, it's SO GOOD, the couple is perfect and the whole story is so cute omg i loved it, and there's just one fast spicy scene
Great video! I’m reading Fourth Wing currently and can’t wait to pick up Red Rising. Also, the House across the Lake sounds exactly like the Woman in the Window.
Haley, if you think you love Riley Sager's books, think again and read any of Freida McFadden's books(I'd suggest starting with 'Inmate' or 'Never Lie'). I'll just tell you that there'll be more than one plot twist in any of her books, I flew through all of them in a week. I promise you'll have a great time. Happy reading! :)
Hello, I’m so happy you had so many 5⭐️, and I wanted to know if like last year you could do a “i read 108 books this year, here’s what you should read”, pleaseeee, I loved that video , lots of love❤️❤️❤️
i love the cheat sheet, it's my all time fav!! i read it in march and am currently about to finish my second read of it. i looooove sarah adams & all of her books, i think you would too!
I would recommend A Thousand Heartbeats by Kiera Cass. Politics, war, enemies to lovers. I loved the selection series by her, but this one really outdid those.
There is something I genuinely loved about holly black's writing style in folk of the air series. The truthfulness to cruelty and selfishness, the imperfection that constitutes humanity, and the dramatic portrayal of fae world. Also, she wrote a relatively cleaner version of romance that was easy to read as well as very immersive (the fact that romance nowadays gotta have smut for sure somewhat bothers me). I wish someday I will be lucky enough to meet holly black and ask her how she writes in person.
