Its fun to have them, but the moment we start demanding its cannon is when it stops being fun and starts getting sad. Besides, there were lots of holes in it before the extended cut. Primarily how it doesn't really end anything. when its all said and done the end result is just Shepard giving into indoctrination or still being in a pile of rubble on earth without any real resolution. That isn't an ending and would have pissed me off far more than the one we got initially.

@kettleresprit you can use medi-gel over the course of the mission to heal whatever teammates you have with you, no worries about that part. The important thing is that you need erryone's loyalty mission completed. Enter the relay the moment you're allowed. Pick Tali as your technician and Jacob as Squad Leader initially. Send Mordin with your crew once they're rescued. Use Samara or Jack as your Biotic protector. Take Tali and Jacob with you to the final battle and leave erryone else to defend.

The reason the ending is talked about so much is that it resonates the most with the players. In games, as in most fiction, the beginning and end are what stick with audiences the most. So the ending to the game sticks with players the most, and is why the game is constantly criticized for its ending. But before that it was a damn fine game.
@kettleresprit The way the suicide mission works is that you have to have the right people for the right jobs, and as prepared as possible. In short, make sure you trick out the Normandy with the combat upgrades, do the loyalty missions for the squadmates, and when you have to choose someone to do something, make sure you pick the best person for the job.
How much animosity can there be when the geth are helping them rebuild their homeworld. It's a tough rode ahead and their will be some conflict but they aren't going to war one another again. Shepard proved that they can live together, that was the point of that arc.
I respect your opinion and you make a good point, that only happy endings would be silly. I don't usually play RPG games, so an ending where I can't make a choice isn't something new to me. What bothered me was all the plot holes, the introduction of a new character in the last 15 minutes of the game and the lack of dialogue wheel with him. So many questions and none were answered.
@kettleresprit To save everyone requires the following : Every member of your party must be loyal (with the exeption of Jack if you lost her loyalty in her's and Miranda's argument) you also must have Mordin inside your group at all times during the Suicide Mission (I don't know why but he always dies with me otherwise) choose Miranda as the second squad leader, Garrus as the distraction team leader ,Legion as the Tech. guy , Samara as the biotic ,and Tyler as the escort for the Normandy's crew

I honestly didnt care about the endings. i set out to do what was originally suppose to be done since the first game. blow up the reapers, go out with a bang. the journey was epic, the end.. to me.. was satisfying.. but overall, it was the journey to the endings that made it for me.
Lots of speculation... but it totally makes sense. I've played Mass Effect since the first one, and it really makes sense. During the battle of the citadel Shepard was totally exposed to Sovereign's indoctrination. In ME2, Ashley/Kaidan was the first to get immobilized from the Collectors, who knows what they did in the mean time. Object Rho hit Shepard hard in the Arrival, etc. Some indoctrinations take seconds, to last days, but Shepard's one has been going for 3 games.
It wasn't made for the game. Protectors of the Earth was in their first public album, "Invincible", which was released in 2010. Not only was this game released two years later, but "Invincible" wasn't a new tracks album. It was more of a "Greatest Hits" album, a compilation of Nick and Thomas's older and more popular works, making this track even older. Still awesome though, and it fits great with the trailer.
@Orumon27 You know what kind of experements Cerberus was preforming on people in ME1. If anyone were to join Cerberus then I would more than likely question there judgement/sanity to. Plus it did not sound like she was betrayed by his return she felt betrayed because of the following reasons : 1. He did not contact her. 2. When he did come back he's with TIM. I mean she even states that he betrayed the alliance by joining TIM ,who could have been controlling him for all she knew.

Some people also think that the last 10 minutes was the Reapers trying to indoctrinate Shepard. 2 out of the 3 option at the end keep the Reapers alive while only 1 option actually destroys the Reapers. Also the fact that the last 10 minutes felt like the dreams that Shepard would have. And 2 squad mates transported to the Normandy after they were with made no sense.

I just don't understand why they didn't make an extra 20 minutes to the initial ending. They basically just had a climax and just left out the resolution.

@flufyduffy Garrus is one of the finest (I don't mean aesthetically pleasing) characters in the Mass Effect series, which is why I hope he's the one sacraficed. The emotional impact would be crushing, but necessary, to sell the weight of the sacrifice being made.
One thing you guy's should remember the most important decision is right at the end of every game those act's are pivotal for the course of the war, 1 you could destroy the council, 2 destroy the collector base, But keep in mind there at the end of each game so you could use your save points to go back quickly and change those event's with out having to play the entire game all over again. IM electing to save the council this time round because in hind sight was the best decision.
@flufyduffy im thinking all of the characters will meet their demise, but there all gonna go out fighting and taking down one of those dam reapers. judging from the feedback from those who have already seen the endings there doesnt seem to be any "happy ending" which means we are looking at one of those " all hope is lost" depressing endings,which i really wouldnt mind since those kinda of endings keep the player thinking about it for a long time.
It is apparent they rushed it from the following; The opening, the ending, eavesdroping side quests, auto dialogue, Harbinger, dilution of choice, and more if I really try. They actually started the main development for ME3 just before ME2 if my sources are right, so not really much time to bring in two other games worth of choices. They might not of half assed it but were deffinitly on too tight of a schedule for a game this ambitious. And I didn't think James was a bad character.

The ending (besides the last choice) was pretty emotional you gotta admit. Anderson dieying next to you, when shepard dies, you see the flashback to your loved ones etc....Then seeing some of your companions alive when normandy crashed....All in all its not so bad. Whats scary to most people is that the ending leaves a gap (probably for next games). Most of humanity is scared of the unknown. Its in our nature.
I hope the moment where the fleets from all the species join together to take back Earth is kinda like in Ace Combat 5 when the air forces from the different countries join together with your squadron. That was one of the most powerful moments in video game history.

One instance for me; I about lost it when Joker stood up to salute me. For one, his Vrolik syndrome made it difficult for him to get up and then he is usually so informal with you that it just meant SO MUCH to me when he did that. Brought me to damn tears along with so much else in the game. Remember the good stuff.
I agree, and the Extended Cut really did improve the endings imho. Admittedly, I didn't like the original endings, but I never minded them enough to let them ruin the game for me, because, as you pointed out, the remaining 99% of the game is awesome. ME1-3, hands down, one hell of a trilogy.

And it's not so much a case of people genuinely not liking the ending now than it is a case of people complaining for the hell of it / being ungrateful for bioware's efforts to give us a better ending - they didn't have to release the extended cut, but they did. And at no cost as well. Yet people have the indecency to demand more from them. It's sick.
I can`t fucking take the people complaining about the ending anymore. Two incredible games led up to this point and the expectations for the ending were INSANELY high. Bioware said that no matter what they did there was never going to be an ending to satisfy everyone, and they were right. Some people love it, some people hate it. It boils down to personal opinion. I myself won`t say if I enjoyed the ending or not, but I think Bioware wrapped up this incredible trilogy well, even if it was rough.

I play mass effect 1 and mass effect 2 and then rely on the trailers and fan fiction to give me an ending I deserve not what hey gave us!

I literally cried when I finished Mass effect 2 and 1 now i must have mass effect 3... so i can cried once more because... of this game... has a touching story
that no other game will ever compete this game's top notch story, its cinematic, and its feeling like you're there. to command your troops into battle, options where you put your teammate's fate in your hands. whether they live or die... your words and actions will change the ending of mass effect.

Instead, we got a throwaway line by Starchild in reference to it and a "Yo dawg" explanation for the Reapers' existence.
Well, the extended cut is out, and it makes the game alot better if I do say so myself. Anyone who gets this game, be sure to get the extended cut first
