Nice little turning. I think it would have been nice to leave the wooden base & shape it into a proper egg holder. You had it almost turned there with a cove, but sliced it free in the end. Turned out nice.

Beautiful project! Not sure you'll respond after all this time But; I'm wondering if the wood had to be stabilized or if paint and pressure pot controlled the bubbles. I'd like to try something like this but don't have all the stabilizing equipment. thanks.

I didn't stabilize the wood. You could try doing a thin coat of resin all around the exterior of the piece to seal it first if you don't have stabilizing resin.

Just cheap acrylic paint.
