@@MOAB-UT I avoided getting my FM3 for a long while because of comments like this. An hour of using it and I could basically do it blindfolded. Is it as easy as the Helix? No. Does it deserve the level of hyperbole people attach to its difficulty? Christ no.
@@diabx0r I don't agree- I also had a FM9. Sure, out of the box, I could do basic things but to dial in the tones I wanted, even when I knew how, still required too many unnecessary process steps. Good tech just works. The companies do user testing and count process steps (I studied engineering.) Fractal nailed the tones but did not nail that horrid, outdated UI. It's cool if you are happy with your FM3. If you program up a few patches you dig on, good for you. I like to tweak as I go and on these units you really need to connect to a computer. Also the menu is too small and too many pages and forget about changing parameters on the fly. Yes, the Helix UI is much better. Pretty much any UI on any modeler is better. I suspect that you have confirmation bias. You bought it $$$ and figured out how to use it "good enough" so now you are defending your purchase decision. Don't get me wrong, in many aspects it is a great unit. I will buy another Fractal when they revamp their UI. I would love to see a user friendly FM6- same power as FM9 in a smaller form factor and a touchscreen would be a plus. Overall, thFM3 is OK but you run out of horsepower way too quick. Also too much tap dancing to do things. You really should have bucked up for the FM9. It offers numerous benefits over your FM3- not just CPU either. There is a long list online you can see. The FM9 is very close to the AxeFX III. The FM3 is not even close except for some very basic patches. On the FM9 you can play 95% of what you would, at nearly the same high resolution you would on the III. I think Fractal will release an epic new product next year. When they do, I will be a customer again.
@@MOAB-UT Confirmation bias is a thing, but I'm not at all guilty of it here. My FM3 is good for 90% of what I do, all that being said. I think I've hit the CPU limit maybe 3 times in the last 6 months. Ultimately, the FM3 is amazing as it takes up very little space in my downstairs office, where my dedicated Suhr JM hangs on the wall. The Axe Fx III in my upstairs studio paired with an FC12 gets used maybe once or twice a month, tops. Prior to moving to Fractal, I was a Helix Floor, and briefly Helix Rack user. *shrugs*
It sounds great and since you can play well enough to hear the nice overtones and such from the tube amps compared to the Fractal I'll take your word. I know the Fractal gear is really nice for those who can justify the cost.
Great video, are you getting exactly same tone when you were playing live and listening from studio monitors? I mean the room sound is same or the tone we hear from youtube is different?
In my opinion FAS gear is WAY above all others. I have owned Kemper, L6, QC, TONEX and they have all gone bye bye. I have kept and used my Fractal stuff for over a decade now. Works great stand alone or 4 cable with an amp.
While I only have Kemper Stage and HR Prime, not FM3, it seems the Fractal stuff alwaya has a fullness that I appreciate, something the HR products also have, a personality that favors fullness. Line 6 products for years have always leaned bright and gainy, not as full and round, different strokes for different folks I suppose. The Kemper plays it right down the middle for me, well balanced. Love the small form factor of this FM3. Great demo Rich.
Great! However I think half the tones of Fender comes from the reverbs they carry. So on a digital pedal board it sounds different than the original amp at least for ambience.
sounds great Rich! One of my rigs is the FM3 plus the FC6, so kind of like the FM9 Just updated the firmware to 6 Have you tried any of the Fractal Artist tones? I've seen them but haven't loaded them up yet.
@@AC-pu2ehPost this to the Fractal forum. They will get you sorted out. Just tread lightly- they can be an ornery group of sensitive Cliff fanboys. Loved my FM9- not so much the UI. The tones never sounded flubby via my two FRFR studio monitors. Maybe try it with quality headphones.
Which model, what settings? many fender amps have flubby low ends when cranked.. If Cliff did answer I would bet his answer would be something like... This is how the real amps sound. Turn the volume down and use a drive pedal to push the amp to get tighter low end like they do on the real amps.
Really awesome! I'm a FM3 user and it's the best gear I've ever had, those tones are insanely great!
Well damn, those Fender clean and OD sounds are pretty convincing. Beautiful. This coming from an old tube amp guy. Thanks for demoing.
I agree - the presets are killer , you can literally take one or two presets (right out of the box) and play a really good feeling/sounding gig.
I recently got the fm9 after playing with the Helix Floor for 2 years. Love the Fractal !! 🙂♥️
Congrats. Welcome to the club!
Too bad the UI is dated and hard to use on the unit.

One good amp costs $1000. A used fm3 with the most realistic sounding amp models with hundreds of cabs and effects, cost the same.

I have a kemper stage and fm9 and I cannot get my fractal to sound as full as my kemper.
Which Cab do you use?
Very nice. Glad science is not sitting on it's ass and things can be "emulated" to achieve this level of quality.
Science!

I had no idea of "Fractal" or FM3. Your Eleven Rack no good ? gee I still use my Boss GT-10 ! Thank you for this.

which CAB were you using in the amp deluxe verb configuration??

I cant get any fender model to sound good on my fm9. Low end is flubby and unusable. I can pull out all the low end and it still sound horrible.
Maybe it is your speakers.
@@MOAB-UT definitely not the speakers
