"don't even know exactly what you're getting? You didn't know the cable was detachable?" What an utterly ridiculous point. He knew he was getting the HD800, the cable is nothing one needs to pay extra attention to when buying the headphone. You're the typical dumb poser who probably doesn't know crap about sound quality, being more concnerned with your ego and shallow clichés.
Have you ever opened a box before? It looks like your hands are growing out of your butt. Sennheiser logo on the back... holding the box upside down...
i was asking in reference to your mention of these being sennheiser's best cans. I'm not sure how they'd stack up against the hd800s, but I'd hope at that price they'd be noticeably better. however, based on most of the reviews ive heard about the hd800s, that's near impossible to do. and im just wondering, being that this video is nearly two years old, do you still have these, and are they as good as they claim to be?
That was the dumbness thing that i ever saw. even an 8 years old child could figure it out.. I won't trust his reviews again.. he didn't even know the cable was removable.
best unboxing videos ive seen for sure, most other unboxing videos are just boring but you're so carefull and thorough with eveything it turns into a joy to watch :P. plus dont ditch the trusty blade :P
In your opinion, how similar are the AKG K701/2 to the HD800? I'm finally thinking to get a pair of the HD800's. Does the HD800 trounce the AKG in all aspects (including soundstaging-depth,imaging etc)?
@TopFuelProductions They are designed for extremely precise audio, so they are suposed to be used with very good amplifiers that use big jack connectors.
Hey mate! Can you please tell me the SN of your HD800? You don't have to be precise but only tell me approximately as I am trying to figure out how many Sennheiser sold in each year, Thank you!
what headphone would that be just out of curiosity? I've the akg k240 mkii currently and was thinking of upgrading. So what reference headphone would you suggest for a tenth of the price of the hd 800?
I have a question what would you use these headphones for because I just wanted to use them for my iPod but looking at the jack it doesn't look like a 3.5 mm jack.
do you have any recomendations for some headphones that have good strong bass decent highs, mids and lows; that are durable and under or at $300? thanks.
If you guys are wondering why the price went up, it's because of the low value of the Dollar. The headphones still cost the same as they originally did here in europe, but since the Euro has almost doubled in value, it's only expected that the price of exports will rise as well.
@hifiguy528 should i buy a pair for 800$? The person had bought them not knowing anything about audio and just used for his music unamped. He payed 1560 for his lol... So they're like new
I need some help here. If I buy a HD800 and an Ipod Classic, and I use an Ibasso PB2 Pelican to drive this cans, would it be sufficient? Or do I need more power, lets say, a Lehmann Linear amp?
@mikeyh32 i dont think so...if you really want to get the quality from these you need a dedicated amplifier for them, not a portable media device. That's one of the issues of these headphones but they're still amazingly good
@hifiguy528 I thought the HD 800 was better. It was a different setup than yours though, and the HD 800 tends to sound different from setup to setup...
@A094H2 would u pay 1.5k for a headphone? at least i tried the beats studio and pros they both sound good for its price. AND they look much better than this huge ear cups
im referring to MDR-MA300 and one more thing does the hd800 need an amplifier if i plug it to my android smartphone and using an app that have preamp like poweramp player?
i want a pair but so i can take them out too , i only trust sennheiser but can't decide on ie800 or hd700 i wouldn't mind hd800 but the power u need to power them
Cool unboxing, i've always wanted to try these for a longer period and did not get a chance at the recent london meet so have a pair being delivered friday, mine actually cost $1399 from an authorised dealer so saved $100. but custom are still my number one choice.
The wires ARE detachable, he was just scared to try saying he didn't wanna break them. He probably shoulda researched em first. They don't terminate in a 3.5 jack because, honestly, if you paid $1500.00 for these would you be hooking em up to an ipod and taking them outside? They are meant for studio/home theater use only. You can buy an adapter if you really need the 3.5mm jack though. These are well worth the price for the sound they produce AND come with a 2 year warranty with option to upgrd
@Rodolfsk8 Ok calm down, I didnt mean to be rude. They are not ipod compatible. You could plug them into the ipod via adapter (since the plug is so big) but that would be a shame since you wouldnt feed the headphones with enough power, and therefore you get pretty poor and compressed sound. You need a headphone amp between the two.
depends how much your into your music and what you use them for if you really love your music or attention to detail then you want the best you can get , if you just want better than standard headphones but not too much and just for occasional listening then obv they will seem alot , my dad spent a grand on a b&o sub and 14,000 on two speakers very very very clear but you get what you pay for , same as track racing or anything either race in a fiesta or a f1 car big difference
The biggest downside to buying headphones this expensive and powerful is that to truly get the sound that these headphones really deserve to play you are also going to need a pretty expensive headphone amplifier. Especially since these headphones have a normal 300Ohm impedance. Either way these headphones are AMAZING!
***** My opinion is that it's snake oil. It's a bit like saying quarter inch jack sounds different than 3.5mm. Some devices use 3.5mm, some quarter inch. Some use balanced. Professional equipment mostly, but they may have miles and miles of cables everywhere in their studio. Not only that, the Sennheiser amp/dacs are quite expensive, too.
***** Eric Lin From what I've experienced with other headphones I would suggest that upgrading past the O2/ODAC pricepoint is not snake oil. A balanced output (ex. to 4 pin XLR) and a more powerful amp makes a huge difference and while this I can't confirm yet, it is my feeling that the amp makes more of a difference than the headphones themselves. Certainly a similar amount at least. Eric, based on everything I know about headphones, the information you are giving here is incorrect.
purplegoat2500 Based on everything I know, the information you give is incorrect. The purpose of an amp is to amplify the sound. That's all. I've been around Headfi meets, trying out $8000 amps, trying out $200 amps. Whereas, if you tried HD800s and then tried LCD-3 and you play a bassy song, you'd have to be deaf to not be able to hear a difference. And I'm being serious - any patzer that doesn't even care about audio one bit, my mom can hear a difference.
Eric Lin But a good amp is the difference between a dull, one dimensional sound and and a more alive sound. a headphone, especially a high end one will often times sound bad if not properly amped
i never had an amlifier in my life before so what is it? okay when i plugged in full size headphone onto my mp3 walkman they sound slow does it need amplifier ouh it sound acceptable when i raised the volume to the max the impedance is 40ohm so how???

Interesting reads from random people on a forum and the Inner Fidelity guy whom I have respect for. I believe he says he's not sure what the pads are made of in his review video, just that they're micro-fibre ish. Which is exactly what Alcantara is. Anyway, I'm glad they have an unofficial story. But I'll take the official product description from where I just purchased mine to be arriving Monday. www.amazon.com/Sennheiser-Over-Ear-Circum-Aural-Dynamic-Headphone/dp/B001OTZ8DA
Exactly, but stating that they're better as you did is a bit misleading, as there are no 'better' headphone when you get to this point, unless you want microdetail in which electrostatic is 'technically' better but that's a whole different sound.
@ehcoblast 1. You can always find deals on these headphones. 2. His first language might not have been English. 3. The box was wrapped in three inches of air-tight bubble wrap. 4. His mentioning of a detachable wire does not preclude his not knowing it. He's bought Sennheisers before, he knows the wires are detachable. 5. 1/4 jack is terribly inconvenient unless you already have an amp/DAC. They make portable amps for headphones like this, you know.
I agree in some ways but I just can't get into the HE-6 I do like the looks of the HD800 I truthfully just use my beyer T90's and Grado GS1000i's the most. I picked up the LCD 3 recently and have tried friends HE-6 I really can't stand that much money for that quality headphones. Also I said about the same as LCD 3s the quality is a little better just not worth the 500 extra dollars if your only getting 1 pair.
Hey guys, the HD 800 looks really nice in person. They feel really sturdy and expensive and the comfort is wonderful. I happen to own both hd 800 and beats studio and of course the studios are nothing compared to the hd 800. They feel terribly plasticy (but look cool) and the sq is only fair. They don't compare, really. I don't really care though since I only look at the studio as my portable "fun"-headphone.
i have the rare hand crafted ones that came with the vacuum tube amp, made by sennheiser in germany only 300 made i have frme ur producine number 001 they are the chuck norris of headphones

Go to 5:45 to avoid the package struggle. Love all your reviews hifiguy. Although this one is long, I still like it once you get into the box haha. Your recent videos are great and you really know your stuff.
You spend $1500 on headphones and don't even know exactly what you're getting? You didn't know the cable was detachable? Seriously?

Have to say, it looked extremely well packed. Where did you purchase them from?
@TopFuelProductions They are designed for extremely precise audio, so they are suposed to be used with very good amplifiers that use big jack connectors.

so they can sell only for their looks and not for what they sound?
I really want a reply from you
hifiguy528, from which online retailer did you purchase the HD-800's? Because when I buy a pair, I want mine to be packed as well as that, haha...
thinking about getting them HD800 , any tips or recommendations ?
I have a question what would you use these headphones for because I just wanted to use them for my iPod but looking at the jack it doesn't look like a 3.5 mm jack.
It's twisted pair, not braided, and you have to twist to remove them
do you have any recomendations for some headphones that have good strong bass decent highs, mids and lows; that are durable and under or at $300? thanks.
I like your vids, bro, maybe get a light though, next to the camera, it would make dark stuff alot more visible.
@hifiguy528 hey, so if one has to buy ? T1 or HD800 ? I'm considering getting one of the two but i'm so confused. I'm thinking of getting both.LOL
If you guys are wondering why the price went up, it's because of the low value of the Dollar. The headphones still cost the same as they originally did here in europe, but since the Euro has almost doubled in value, it's only expected that the price of exports will rise as well.

Are these any good it looks nice btw why is it so expensive
Did you just mention sony in the same video as some HD 800s?
what did you record this with ?
What do you think about the Ultrasone Edition 8?
DId u get these as a review unit or did u rly spebd that much money?
best unboxing i ever see :)
I need some help here.
If I buy a HD800 and an Ipod Classic, and I use an Ibasso PB2 Pelican to drive this cans, would it be sufficient? Or do I need more power, lets say, a Lehmann Linear amp?
yeah but severally over priced do you pay extra for te name brand?
You think that there is a Better Portable Headphone than Edition 8?
Pair of scissors would have came in handy, in your case, I'd imagine
You can't trust mike with a pair of scissors. Unless they are the safety kind with the plastic protecters little kids use
Yes! Germany! Sorry for an obvious question. I was waiting to load the vid. Takes forever on phones.
These do look almost just like my Sony MDR-SA5000s I am wearing right now. Right down to the silver 1/4th Jack
@A094H2 would u pay 1.5k for a headphone? at least i tried the beats studio and pros they both sound good for its price. AND they look much better than this huge ear cups
would you buy a top notch lexus or three honda civics
im referring to MDR-MA300 and one more thing does the hd800 need an amplifier if i plug it to my android smartphone and using an app that have preamp like poweramp player?
Do not worry, we still love your videos no matter if your first ones are long.
i want a pair but so i can take them out too , i only trust sennheiser but can't decide on ie800 or hd700 i wouldn't mind hd800 but the power u need to power them
QC15 isn't a HIFI headphone it's just for noise isolation .....
did u record this with iphone 4 ?
Giveaway? XD
Just kidn. Love this unboxing
Will there be a review(if so I am subbed now)
Keep this quality up ;)
@hifiguy528 do you know any retailer that ships to Canada? I'm currently looking for a Lehmann BCL.
these are the best headphones ever?
Cool unboxing, i've always wanted to try these for a longer period and did not get a chance at the recent london meet so have a pair being delivered friday, mine actually cost $1399 from an authorised dealer so saved $100. but custom are still my number one choice.
Just asking can you use these with mp3 players, phones, ipods, ect
It's so big It must be too heavy, no ? I've got an ULTRASONE HP2400 and it's pretty big

I got an adapter with my HD650s, bit weird considering the price difference.
como los abris en el piso? y alrevez? los plugs se aflojan dándoles media vuelta que ridículo!... pero felicitaciones por tu adquisición
So, we can't just like Beats headphones?
I was told if you contact Sennheiser with your SN, they will send you a graph of how your specific pair of headphones perform.
Most amazing thing about this video....he has a ring on his left hand. My wife gives me 'the look' whenever I buy a new set of cans.
so when do you buy a decent mic ?
What's your opinion of Hdvd 800?
Where are these hd800s manufactured?
Great unboxing, really brings out the beauty of the HD 800. Would like to add that I find these incredibly comfortable.
i can see that they do not want those to break via shipping! damnnnn
depends how much your into your music and what you use them for if you really love your music or attention to detail then you want the best you can get , if you just want better than standard headphones but not too much and just for occasional listening then obv they will seem alot , my dad spent a grand on a b&o sub and 14,000 on two speakers very very very clear but you get what you pay for , same as track racing or anything either race in a fiesta or a f1 car big difference

How would these compare to the Beyerdynamic T-1?
@GTRMclaren722 They don't, the XB1000 is not a hifi headphone. The HD 800 is a premium hifi headphone. The sound is simply at another level.
are the sides made from plastic ?
How do u work these things do. Need an amp or something
keep up the good work, keep unboxing stuff :D
I want to know why you bought these.
They are $1000 are they really worth it, I have so money saved up
my box doesnt have the word sennheiser on it it just has the logo. Did they change the box or is mine fake
they changed the packaging a few years ago.
ok thank you. Thats what I thought but I couldnt find any news about it, thanks again!
y not beyerdynamics dt150 for 200 euros?
What type of earpad materials did they use?
