  • This came my way the other day for diagnosis. The owner agreed the outcome probably would not be fab, and she was indeed right. But can we work out what is wrong with this cheap cordless vacuum cleaner?

So all you have to do to get to the electric motor and clear any debris around it is to pop odd the top disk, unscrew the two screws, wiggle off the black outer motor housing, and unscrew 4 screws on the inner motor housing. No need to unscrew all the other screws that hold the two side mouldings together 👍
Thanks for the video though as I wouldn't have got to this point without it

That's far easier than I did it for sure! It's like everything though, the first time is always rhe worst! Did you manage to fix it once inside?

@@beko1987 yes. About an hour ago, I vaccumed the living room and realised that the filter wasn't on 😬 so had to find this video and do it. Now I know, it's only 6 screws and about 15 minutes work. Used pin head pliers to pull some of the dust balls out and once it was nearly clear, without putting the outer housing back on, I allowed the motor to blast the rest up in the air. All sorted now. I bet it's ruined my warrenty, but I'm sure it would have broken soon after had I not cleared it out and Beldray probably wouldn't have touched it as they would have an excuse that it was miss used in the first, by not replacing the filter

You did a better job than the warranty ever would! And when it happens again you'll know what to do 👍

So glad I found your video!! The motor sounded awful and I wasn’t sure the top part could come off! Thankfully, after a clean, it’s sounding so much better!!

Thanks for showing how to disassemble this! Ours has a bad (organic) smell coming from the top motor vents when running, even after cleaning the filter... sprayed that circular vortex 'thing' on the top of the motor with isopropanol and soaked the foam filter in disinfectant, hope it works! Cheers, Rob.

Those motors have a brass bushing or bearing at both ends and it sounds rough. The drag/vibration is probably causing it to go over-current and switching off.

Good video but someone doesn't keep their vacuum clean! and that motor isn't good, the bearings are shot or full of debris, deep clean and re grease of the motor bearings it'll be fine, easy fix that! 👍

The problem is probably faulty connections in the roller section of the Beldray. Just a thought.

This is what i am wondering. With all the dumb regulations around these days vacuum cleaners have had their ability to work and suck effectively heavily kneecapped. I have a Beldray Airgility cordless 22.2v which i recently bought and while it does a reasonable job its not exactly got a HUGE amount of suction.
Thats how i ended up here as i was wondering if i could upgrade the motor of fan to give it more suction. Any ideas Mr vacuum man?

That motor doesn't sound right at all.Either a foreign object is blocking it or a bearing is bad.Two drops of oil in the bearings would have told us which.
