As a Slovak I have to say that this was absolutely fabulous. Winne showed a lot of respect for the fujara tradition using age old riffs but in a new way. He really did the instrument justice. Many shepherds talk about their instrument as a living being and one can easily see it in this song. It is not as if musician plays some inanimate instrument making it all about himself. Instead it seems as if the musician brings life to the instrument, ushering forth her own independent voice that was somewhere down there waiting for somebody worthy to express it. A lot of respect Winne.
If English is not your first language, bravo. You have learned it very well and used it gracefully, to a level better than most native speakers manage.
@@PhilBot4OOO Thank you for your kind words. If I may, I’d like to bring to your attention one more aspect of fujara; it was to be played as a communication between multiple shepherds. The sound was rolling down the hills as each shepherd - alone with just his dogs - expressed his fujara. The best one I could find is this one. Enjoy: ruclips.net/video/SuMxWlVYP2o/видео.html
This was played by shepards herding sheeps high up on moutains. So imagine ambient sound of houndreds of sheeps bells with it and you have full experience:))))
That plus imagine you have several shepherds on different hills miles away trying to covey through music what is going on with them in impromptu concert. Ideal mountain shepherd instrument ;)
9/2024..........So pleased the algorithm, decided it was time for me to re-listen to your magnificent soundscapes,....it couldn't come at better time, when our world seems to be in ever increasing chaos. The various news of the day, makes my head want to explode, and I am troubled and ill at ease. I'll let your music wash over me, and refresh my soul. To properly decompress, I will listen to this, over and over for a spell.
@Katarina He is right. In the Iron Age, before the Germanic and Slavic incursions in that territory, at least two Celtic tribes were living in what is now Slovakia: the Cotini and the Boii.
Amazing. My grandad, Jozef, plays the fujara whenever we visit him, so this video hits right home. As a proud Slovak, I congratulate you on mastering our national instrument.
Des frissons traversent tout mon corps... Les émotions tourbillonnent et font monter des larmes à mes yeux... Terriblement profond et envoûtant ♡ M E R C I ♡
Looked up the Fujara after seeing that it was one of the instruments used in the creation of the soundtrack for Horizon Zero Dawn and I had absolutely no idea what it was! Amazing!! Thank you for sharing!
when shepherds went to play fujara (read fuyara for english speakers) they used to say " we are going to talk with gods ... playing fujara awakening deep vibrations in brain and opens unknown places ...
By accident, I came across this video and I absolutely fell in love with the sound. There is so much going on, it sounds peaceful, beautiful, relaxing and tense all at the same time. I can visualize watching stars in the grand canyon, I can imagine people in the old days travelling the desert by night, I can see a seed growing into a beautiful plant, but I can also see people laying a friend to rest as they say goodbye, it's insane that so much comes to mind listening to this. I have never played an instrument before, but this is something I would love to own. How much would such an instrument cost?
I'm glad you enjoy the fujara, the cheapest Fujara you can buy is likely around $130, but if it's outside your budget or if you worry about buying it, I reccomend another Slovak instrument that is smaller, sounds exactly the same as the fujara with the scale, only sounds higher and that is the 'Koncovka' overtone flute, which cost much cheaper around $20 :) it can be good practise for fujara too, I have a koncovka and i'm planning to upgrade to a fujara also :)
You play in wanderful way! I came from Slovakia and play Didge from Australia, Duduk from Armenia, Djebe from Namibia but not Fujara from my country :( it is nice to see how nice it can be....to see beauty also in my land...thanks!
my pleasure! I am working on new concent, if you want you can help me by support new video making here! www.patreon.com/mesmerizingsounds Feel free! cheers

Incredible, goose bumps the whole time. Do you still make the Fujara? I have one custom made but doesn't sound nearly as good as this. I will be in touch on your website. Cheers
Great playing and nice improvisation! Two questions: 1. Will there ever be a tutorial on how to play that sound at 00:50? 2. What is called that thing You "play" with your leg? Cheers!

Hearing one of these played in a wide-open space would be interesting.

Heard that sound from time to time in movies, games etc. Never knew what instrument it was. Finally^^
Hah yes its used in scores quite a lot :-)
Beautiful!
@@1fujara Fujara? Slovak fujara?? You master the instrument very well by the way.👌🏻👌🏻
Love the Fujara sound. It's biggest secret is how easy it is to pick up, how intuitive it is to play, like an extension of your vocal chords.
Это один из самых прекрасных звуков во Вселенной! Спасибо словакам, что сохранили это чудо старых горных славянских племён - фуяру!
The Watcher Ďakujeme.
After seeing the new Dune movie I've come back to this wondering how wonderfully this instrument would have suited the soundtrack.
Next time 👍

I don't believe so... I think they used the Armenian musical instrument called Duduk... search for that one ;)
I just read it was used in Mad Max Beyond Thundersome
This is hypnotically beautiful, especially with the harmonium.
Thank you! I couldn't find anywhere what that foot accordion was called 😅

Two questions:
1. Will there ever be a tutorial on how to play that sound at 00:50?
2. What is called that thing You "play" with your leg?
Cheers!
1. That sound is produced by very fast stuttering, like saying the letter "t" while blowing.
2. That instrument is called a harmonium, or a pump organ
Very nice piece!
