The teardrop caravan is pretty much just a bedroom on wheels for short trips away from home.
Small, light and easy to tow it's marketed to the cycle tour crowd to provide a place to sleep when all of the other accommodation is taken.
We take a walk through a South African teardrop caravan to see what it has to offer.

This channel documents my adventures travelling around Southern Africa in my caravan.
Two years ago I left the big city of Cape Town, towing my caravan and a speedboat with my lovely cat for company, never to return to the big city.
I'll be documenting my adventure and showing caravan parks that I spend time at in Southern Africa as well as some other subjects of interest to caravanners and adventurers in general.
This channel takes an in-depth look at smaller and off-grid living in Southern Africa.
The tiny house movement is small in Southern Africa, but is growing exponentially very quickly.
Southern Africa is vast and has areas of great beauty with weather that is unique and superb. These videos will interest adventurers of all ages. There are still ways to live in this world that allow one to wander the world, as John Wayne used to do in the old western movies.
As I get older I have the choice to sit in four walls, watch TV and get grumpy, or go off and have an adventure in my old age.
I've decided to choose the adventure and I'm surprised at what I've found. I'm seeing some great places and having some fantastic experiences.
Hopefully these videos will bring out your inner 'John Wayne'.

That trailer is on my bucket list. The major addition for me will be one of the 4x4 hanging shower cubicles attached to the roof-rack on the other side with the major purpose of supplying a dressing area straight from the door without having to add a full add-on tent.

There are two teardrop caravan trailers that I know of in South Africa. One in KZN called Jetstream Trailers, and the other is based in Cape Town and they are called Vagabond trailers.

The concept is great, but pricing on these teardrop caravans is to my mind overpriced, that is why there are many youtube video's on how to build your own... but anyway I hope they enjoy many happy miles
