    Crazy to hear Zverev only from Novak as a bold prediction, hes done really well on clay no? 2 madrid titles, 1 rome and even last year went to semis at the french. Definitely my dark horse to make it deep into the tournament. But we all know zverev eh?

    • @boba_tea_yuzu
      @boba_tea_yuzu 9 месяцев назад +6

      He made the semis at RG last year for the third year in a row (2021 and 2022 too). Plus he was undefeated on the Madrid Center Court until the final with Alcaraz where he barely got like 4 hours of sleep before playing the final. He's a really solid and definitely one of the best clay court players, I also was really surprised only Novak mentioned him. But he plays his best tennis when he's underestimated ;)

      @@raspelly I don't know why either :( But it's always amusing watching commentators / people online write him off, but when he makes deep runs in tournaments, they're forced to eat their words. Hopefully Monte Carlo will be a good tournament for him

    • @RyGimeson
      @RyGimeson 9 месяцев назад +3

      I think everyone knows Sasha is an amazing player, but the fact that he is so amazing and hasn't won a slam speaks volumes about his poor mentality. Couple that with how many times he's lost matches despite having huge leads, and it's easy to understand why people don't bet on him.

    • @boba_tea_yuzu
      @boba_tea_yuzu 9 месяцев назад +7

      @@RyGimeson It's just my opinion, but I don't think he's mentally weak at all. If he was mentally weak, he wouldn't have turned around the Olympics semi, being down 6-1 and a break against a top form Djokovic who'd just won 3/3 Slams that year and was pursuing the Golden Slam, nor would he have returned to tennis and at such a high level after such a physically and mentally traumatic injury. So I really don't think there's an issue with his mentality.
      I personally think most of the reason for his unexpected losses is his Type 1 Diabetes, I feel like it shouldn't be overlooked. It affects every aspect of his game, and the issues come without warning, it can be at the start of a match, when he's winning, when he's losing. It obviously affects him physically (losing strength in his muscles, low energy, decreased stamina, etc.) but it also crucially affects his mind too. It can make it hard to concentrate and induce a sort of brain fog, which will also massively hamper his level in matches as well. But that's just me.
