This is my favorite piano piece, and I am eager to learn everything I can about the arpeggios in use. I know that Bmin9 plays a big role; I have been trying out this Shawn Lane type thing where I sequence the arpeggio down the fretboard in groups of four and five notes, sixteenth notes and quintuplets respectively. It's really tough, but I am going to keep at it.

I'm a big Tal Farlow fan and read an old interview where he mentioned the tombeau specifically as a favorite.

I’ve often created jazz lines that make me jump in shock on realising that I had already heard the melody from Debussy.

@@RichieZellon Not just liked it, I'm working it now. I take online lessons with Peter Mazza, and he introduced the Arpeggio for the Dim-maj as a superimposition for the B dim near the end of ATTYA, but since it wasn't the focus of that lesson, I was not sure where to take it. THIS follows it up perfectly!!

The oldest composition that I knew with Giant Steps changeswas Bluin' The Black Keys a Novelty piano tune from Arthur Schutt and that was made in 1926. But Ondine is even older since was composed in 1908...

I love these Ravel videos. I wouldn't mind if this was a 10 part series.

Thanks, I wouldn't mind either. Sadly, so far from the response, it appears that the great majority are not interested in the subject. That's RUclips for you....

Richie. You never know. You are in some very interesting territory here. It’s almost mind blowing considering the cultural differences behind between Ravel and modern jazz that they should intersect this way
