Well, the last eastbound anyway. I’m glad you captured that on video for the rest of us to enjoy. What fascinates me is The lead unit, SP 262, also lead the last westbound the very next day and coincidentally arrived at Minturn around the same time as when it arrived in this video. Hopefully one day the economics will make it viable to reopen the line and we can once again see life in Minturn yard. Stranger things have happened, and UP has abandoned lines before and others have come in and reopened them. So one can hope.
Thanks Walt for sharing. I wish UP would have kept the Tennessee Pass open but money talks. I road over it twice in passenger trains in the late '40's. What a collection of great scenery!
Thank you sir for this incredible footage from the mid 90s of western railroading!!! Such beautiful scenery and time capsule to back then!!! Love it man!!
Thank you 😊 Walt for Sharing Your RUclips Video on the Final Era of the Tennessee Pass line And its Sad the Tennessee Pass line is Abandoned And Hopefully the Tennessee Pass line Will be Reopened for Train Traffic in the Future 💯💯💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍
Walt Loevy, I got great news! The Tennessee Pass line is going to re-open! A RUclips user named Jack Williams told me that the progress of reviving that line is now underway!
The train in this video at 38:55 can be seen exiting the Tennessee pass tunnel in the evening, but in the following video that another photographer took. It's from the same day 844 traversed the pass. Pretty cool! ruclips.net/video/jlwawlVOmsQ/видео.htmlsi=xVkMfnFBN-pdKifJ&t=147
I do hope they reactivate this line. I would make the pilgrimage to see this line if they did. Obviously it wouldn’t be the same as the DRGW/SP tunnel motors, but any action on it would be better than no action.
I’m confused as to why you skipped back and forth to different locations. I get that this was shot at different times with different trains, IMHO it would have made more sense for those unfamiliar with the area to get an end to end view of the line.
That's cool that you got to see the last train to ever run on that line. Its sad but still cool.
Yeah. Lucky shot. I'm glad you enjoyed the show.

Indeed!
Until I watched the Machines of Iron DVD, i didn’t realize that was the last train mentioned. Talk about a lucky catch
A blessing, to be sure.

@@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos Thank you very much also.
Man I wish I could go back in time to see these trains in action
I could go back and see them again. I know the feeling.

Indeed, I've heard rumors of a reopening.
I think this is the only video that exists that has the final train over Tennessee Pass
The last eastbound. Yes, that's true.
Awesome video😍😍❤❤
Thanks! I'm glad you enjoyed the show.
Awesome video!
I'm glad you're pleased.
Hope you had a nice merry Christmas!
Thanks! You too.
My dad and i. June 1996. Been there, rode that.
I love these classics, what i love most is the sound of the 645 EMD and what i least like is when that wonderful sound is covered up by a horn.
I imagine there was both in this show, which I hope you enjoyed.
Nice!
Thanks!
I thought I detected a bit of curfeture in that Brick about the time you explained such
Explained? The show is unnarrated. Nevertheless, I hope you enjoyed the show.
Do you have anymore stuff from Tennessee pass? Trains struggling at the crest would be cool to watch if you have it. Enjoyed the video, thanks!
I'm glad you enjoyed the show. This is my best Tennessee Pass video. Other producers may have what you want.
Skip to 30:07 and 37:35 if you wanna see 844 in action!

I decided chronological was better than geographical. But not a bad idea💡
🤩🤩🤩🤩👍🍺
Thanks for watching!
Shame UP got rid of the SP brand. The locos looked great
There's a lot that has turned UP armour yellow over the decades, for better or worse.
