    I wish the merger didn't happen... or at least let the Santa Fe liveries still stay. They're so much more appealing to look at than the modern orange & dark green liveries they have now.

      I think the BNSF scheme represents most of the merger railroads, especially H2. You have the orange for the GN, a modified ATSF herald, Grinstein green for the BN and silver for the Burlington. SP&S and NP might have some representation somewhere.

      That could’ve been the Dynamics struggling to work, or that could’ve been a engine problem. Those SD45-2’s had some issues with them during their operation periods. But I think it was the SD45-2.

    • @JessicaKasumi1990
      @JessicaKasumi1990 3 года назад +3

      To be fair, the Union Pacific of today isn't the original UP. When the Rio Grande and Southern Pacific merged in 1989, they took on the Southern Pacific name. And when they merged with Union Pacific in 1996, they took the UP name because the UP name has better brand recognition. @@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos

    We lost all the great schemes in the 90’s mergers. Anybody wants to find hundreds of former yellow bonnets warbonnetts cascade greens vomit executives, Sp bloody noses, go to Houston, port of Houston, and the deadline Galveston loco yard. There still there. In Beaumont you will catch a cascade, a yellow bonnet and a sd60triclops in bnsf H1 all working a local most days. Ten years from now I’m sure they will be gone and it’ll be all sd70’s. Can’t stand aces and GEVoS anymore

    3000 miles of ties and rails make up the Santa Fe

    Hot loads rolling for the coast we'll be there in three days on the Santa fe Santa Fe all the way
    A million gandy dancers were spiking down the tracks when the future of our nation was riding on their backs they came through in flying colors and it's still that way today on the Santa Fe Santa Fe all the way

    Great video Walt! I’ve grown up watching your train videos, I love every one of them. Thanks for uploading!

    So what happened in 1992 that defined the "final era"? I'm guessing ATSF merged with BN in 1996.

      How many years do you think should represent the final era of the Santa Fe?

      @@WaltLoevyActionTrainVideos I don't know. I think the merger is a good place, the year when the locomotives began sporting that "BNSF" logo awkwardly stenciled on top of the "Santa Fe" logo.

      I have another video, BNSF the merger years, that better fits the time period you described.

    The engineers don't wave from the trains anymore, not like they did back in 1954!

    I have a relative who is a BNSF hoghead. He had been a ATSF employee before the merger. He still calls his railroad the Santa Fe.

      I don't doubt it. I often refer to rail lines by their predecessor railroads. I think a lot of us do.

    The Santa Fe Railway merged with the Burlington Northern to formed A Burlington Northern Santa Fe on September 21st, 1995.

      That is not correct. The merger was approved on September 21st 1995. Full incorporation into the new BNSF system took around a year. By the end of 1996, BN & ATSF were no more.
