The only band where your favourite track is always the next one. They are a once in a lifetime confluence of musical excellence. There is nobody in the same sport, let alone the same league. I have never had this level of admiration and respect for a band in my life. I adore them. Love your reactions.
I am coming off of 25+ years of Symphony X. Lovebites is right in the middle of my wheel-house. I see Miyako as the next Michael Romeo. I see Lovebites as a Japanese female version of Symphony X. I can't get enough of it. If Lovebites quits, i'm going to cry. I'm pretty sure a lot of us are going to cry. So let's hope they never quit.
@@TheCyberMantis I see them more as a Japanese female Angra 🙂. But yes M&M together might be >Michael Romeo ( and probably weigh less combined😉)
@@jean-paulreijn7648 True, the Angra influence is strong. Midori likes Kiko, so yeah.
They are Japanese, they are not sweating! :) :) :)
That was another amazing reaction! "Edge of the World" is just a piece of art. All parts of this song are amazing and they amazingly played and sang. I think in this song all stuff are theirs.
Every time after listening to another Lovebites' song, this song become my favorite :)
If you want something like this try to listen "Epilogue", if you want something thrashy try the song "Break the wall".
Thank you for your reaction! Waiting for new reactions to Lovebites.
"Epilogue" - ruclips.net/video/JIAJYBuuKGM/видео.html
"Break the wall" - ruclips.net/video/5Pc0XK0lNmU/видео.html
Believe it or not, this is the second to last song of the encore and of the entire show, and it's coming after way over an hour and a half from the beginning of it. Talking about serious stamina!!! Out of all of Haruna's nicknames, I believe "the human metronome" is the most apropriate. And her disassociation of hands and feet is out of this world.
LOVEBITES - Edge Of The World lyrics:
Why do we learn to hate, deceive and lie, hurt each other?
Why does it never end? The sorrow keeps on repeating
Wailing, come downpours of the rain
Will it end? No one ever knows
Wondering, what only time can tell
What is at the end of life?
Why do we only see our own desires? Greed is endless
Why is there authority when there is no justice in their rulings
Struggling like feeble, helpless fools
Will it end? No one ever knows
Wandering, not knowing where to go
Carrying the breath of life
Standing at… The Edge of the World
As long as you're still alive, remember
- don't fear standing up, don't ever give it up
Until the day you meet your end, it's not over
- let your soul shine inside of your heart
As long as you're still alive, remember
- keep your dignity, stay true to who you are
Until the day you meet your end, it's not over
- let your heart love and always be loved
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever
How you live will always live on
As your way of life, forever

If I could give you 10 "likes" I would, because your point about sweat really killed me. It would never have occurred to me to think about it and now I can't stop thinking about it. You're absolutely right, and I really don't get it either. Even if the lights don't really get that hot, with all the activity Haruna has on the drums, there should be something, and I've never seen a single drop of sweat on her, or any...
and, remember, they used even pyros in Set the World on Fire.
Luv these ladies, they are just so damn good, can't wait till they pick their new bass player and get back to creating some more wonderful music👍👍🤘🤘
Point of order, that part where you said it has some Metallica and Iron Maiden vibe comes straight out of Deep Purple’s Child in Time. I knew I’d heard it before but couldn’t place it until I recently listened to some Deep Purple again. So the ladies have taken us way back in the musical time machine, even further back than Metallica or Iron Maiden.
Listen to Break The Wall. After Miyako's solo, it kicks in again and you can hear a Hammond organ style backing piece. Obviously a nod to John Lord. Check Speed King for reference 👍
I agree. The first time I heard this I recognised the part from Child in Time and when I picked up on the hammond organ backing it made me think of Purple's Jon Lord.
Honestly, one of the best reactions I've ever seen. The fact you go back multiple times is great and being your authentic self is awesome! I hate wrestling but you were being yourself which is terrific, all good in my book!! Regarding the song: There is good, even great sounding music, then there is Lovebites, an entirely different level of musicianship. Ppl can say what they want but there aren't any bands I know of who can do power metal, thrash and then do something like this or Swan Song. Back in the day, you wanted thrash you listened to big 4, Testament. You wanted power metal, you listened to Maiden, Helloween, you wanted something in between, you listened to Priest or Ozzy. These ladies cover the entire spectrum which is amazing when you think about it!! 🐺🦊
They continually prove they can take on any genre of rock and be the best at it. Thanks for continuing the journey. I love Miyako's blues solo in this, one of the most emotional guitar solos I've ever heard. As for how they can play like this and not sweat? There have been suggestions they're not actually from this planet.
Yes, I believe so. They must be from some other world, They should make a TV anime series or "Five Power Metallic Goddesses". BTW, it is also a mystery that Asami never pants on the stage.
An epic song with an uplifting message; it showcases Asami’s vocals. A masterpiece.
This band truly "gets it". They know how to put on a complete show, from the stage setup to sound engineering to the technically almost perfect way they play. I've never heard better in such a consistent manner throughout their catalog.
I love this song very much! A beautiful song, the opening just show cases Asami's voice and then Miyako does what she does best and makes the Dean just sing with such emotion. This is what make Lovebites my favorite band, they can thrash and power metal then turn around and play a beautiful ballad.
Awesome choice 🤘 Epic song. As far as i know the piano is written for this song and the cymbal Haruna is playing is a bell placed upside down and she uses it ateast once in just about every song. A song i recommend you check out os one of their craziest face melting Power/Thrash songs called "Winds Of Transylvania" and it even starts off on Piano too. link for live version ruclips.net/video/qd_qop5j1bs/видео.html
A keyboardist/songwriter named Mao is credited for writing this song and the lyrics were written by Asami (might be my favorite Asami lyrics). There are only five Lovebites songs where Mao is given full songwriting credit. He was in a power metal band called Light Bringer that ended a couple of years before Lovebites started. This is my favorite of the five Mao songs. I am curious as to how much Mao will continue to be involved with the band. With Miho's departure, Lovebites is now Miyako's band and Miyako has never worked with Mao in composing her twenty songs.
This is the one song I always try to get new reactors to listen to before anything else, as this song literally showcases what they are capable of, it shows several styles and types of genres in one song. I would have to say that the weather in Japan is not dry or humid heat but extremely pleasant, and the eating habits also have some major factors as well. They have done an entire 2-hour long show on RUclips in July of 2020 and they are still the same as if nothing has happened. That was the FOAK show at Diver City Tokyo Japan
Next song, near segue is why the abrupt end of this clip, "We The United" with a continuation of the lyrical theme:
ruclips.net/video/pdXVx-0V0ew/видео.html [cc] lyrics included.
The last little clip is their appreciation to the audience & traditional group-bow before exiting the stage.
My favorite song by not just Lovebites but every band 🤘
The wolfpack anthem! 🤘🏻🐺🤘🏻
Japanese goddesses don't sweat. They always smell like flowers. Sakura. 🥰
Used for LOVEBITES Live in Tokyo 2019 and 2020, Zep DiverCity Tokyo is a hall with a 1st and 2nd floor atrium with a capacity of about 2,500 people standing. It is located in the place where the Gundam that was photographed in the triathlon competition of the Tokyo Olympics was standing.
Great that you went back to the start so you can see how far that introductory motif on the piano persists throughout the song and bulids up to the climax.
Awesome song, certainly one of my favorites of theirs! Regarding the lack of sweating...might have something to do with the combination of youth and size. They are small (from an American perspective), ranging in size from 4' 9" to 5' 2" and I'd be surprised if any of them weigh more than 100 lbs! Cheers for the continuation of your Lovebites journey!
She's using an upside down bell cymbal a top one of her rides. She is an uncanny percussionist.
👆 100% She totally is.
I think that cymbal is called an "ice bell". It's basically a little ride cymbal.
She also recently got a Sabian Chopper.
9.5" FX ZIL-BEL from ZILDJIAN on that off time cymbal. It's one of the accents from Haruna that gives her such a unique sound.
Some interesting notes about the piano intros you've seen: On Swan Song, the Chopin piano intro is not on the album version; on Empty Daydream, the piano intro (Rachmaninov, I'm led to believe) and ballad-esque sung intro are not on the album version; and in this song, the piano intro is actually played on guitar on the album version but is adapted for piano in this live version and sounds much better, in my opinion. Once you're much deeper into your journey and are listening to them for pleasure rather than for reactions, you'll note that many of their songs have been adapted or have evolved into live versions that are better than the album versions. It's just another side of them that is truly impressive. And I've finally subscribed after meaning to for a while, because I can see you're truly Lovebitten now!
Midori started hitting the gym after this show was filmed. Maybe it was something for her to do during the band hiatus. In true Midori fashion, she has to go all-out. Ganbatte kudasai to the max. She is a superstar no matter what she does. Here is a video from a recent fitness competition. You will have no trouble spotting her, she is the only blonde on the stage.
She is #129: ruclips.net/video/GwaD69KDTgQ/видео.html
Midori made it to the finals and took 6th place! The finals of this competition: Midori (7 minutes 05 seconds) . She qualified and got the right to participate in the "All Japan" competition. Given that this was the first competition in which Midori participated, the result is excellent!
The small cymbal is called an Ice Bell. Haruna is a genius. If you watch again you will see that she contrrols the entry and exit points of the different sections. As for her energy, someone in another reaction called her 'the pocket nuclear device' !
Classy ladies don't sweat.🤣
I noticed the same thing after I discovered them a couple years ago. I'm an old school metal head and Bass player, and I remember how hot those lights were(a constant beam on my guitarist's Marshall head started the covering smoking). I honestly think some of the lighting tech has changed,(not as warm)and our Japanese ladies simply don't sweat like their western counterparts. Plus, when you know you can crush all before you, you aren't stressed.😜
New subscriber here! Excllent points you had in this reaction/review of this song. Especially about Haruna. There is another reactor, a professional drummer, Drumnerd, who reviewed a drum-video of Haruna playing in the same concert as this Raise Some Hell, and, same as you, he pointed out that the upper body of The Little Big Engine seems to listen to a different code than the lower part, mentioning what he calls „the stabs” and „pushes” on cymbals which follows the voice part. Thanks for the reaction and keep on rocking.
Miyako is the main composer of the band so most likely the Piano intro is her original piece.
Great review. No, they don't sweat because they are not humans but fairies of music. That mini cymbal like bell is an ice bell, and it is not common in metal. Haruna uses her ice bell regularly as accents like in this clip ruclips.net/video/UVkk3ZDrVQc/видео.html. Haruna is so powerful and tough as all know by her double bass kicks, but she takes care of details very well like this ice bell, and she even uses a cowbell (Journey to the Other side ruclips.net/video/XAfRvgQIMkk/видео.html) which metal drummers just don't. This band is very ensemble oriented just like an orchestra while rock/metal, jazz, blue grass, and others are in workshop style. Instrumental solos for guitars and rhythm section strictly keep the beat, but Miho the bass and Haruna the drums know what is the best for the sound and stick tightly to each other and make the perfect rhythm. Great bands must have great rhythm section.
Babymetal sweats because they're Babymetal, but otherwise, I think I've seen Wagakki Band sweating during their outdoor performances and that's it for Japanese bands. Regarding the ting thing that Haruna's doing, I've always known that cymbal as an ice bell. I know other people call it other things, but the one or two times I've seen Haruna mention it, she just calls it the bell. I'm sure all LOVEBITES fans think of it as one of her signatures.
Japan is like this: time to scream - time to be quiet.
In Japan, it also happens at hard rock and heavy metal show.
It just doesn't make a lot of noise. Listen when it's time to listen✌
Watching this reaction again and I had to laugh when you talked about Midori being ripped, I don't know if you've checked out judgement day video yet from the new album but you'll see just how ripped she is now
🤘🦵💪🔥🎸🥁🎤🐺
Another of the " E Song " masterpieces. 🤘🐺🤘
Maybe it has to do with their white dress that makes them look fresh all the time .
i actually noticed haruna's use of the zil bel cymbal one the first listen of this song just because it stood out so well. she also uses it nicely in the song 'golden destination'. sparingly but in the right places. this is one kick ass song you will want to hear : ruclips.net/video/H9F_rbOP9PQ/видео.html
The piano section of Miyako is all her composition but the main song was composed by Mao and Asami did the lyrics
Please you have to listen to Break the Wall, one of there best.
It's a very good reaction. I like your attention to the music you listen to. The comments, suggestions you share with us are really good. Thank you.🤘😆🤘
If I recall their is another composer she did at the beginning which it might be EPILOGUE? Either way MIYAKO is awesome...🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺
Haruna is known for her outstanding cymbal work and she often uses her ice bell but what with everything else going on it's easy to miss. As for her counter rhythms sometimes she does it with her feet and not only with her hands. I imagine its the equivalent of Miyako playing cords on guitar with her left hand while "piano thrashing" with her right (See Burden of Time). As for the somewhat unglamorous theory of sweat, I've seen glimpses of a floor fan or fans around where Haruna sits so I guess that helps her look as fresh as a daisy after nearly 2 hours of working out on her kit. As for the others I don't think they're hiding it as their hair would be a giveaway. Lets face it they are just the coolest cats. 😊😊 Oh and don't forget the lyrics. This song has some of the most profound lyrics I've heard for a long time.
First of all, it's an original song. Secondly, it's called "ice bell", and it's come to be a trademark of hers, as she loves using it, especially when she acompanies not only songs transitions but also individual organ transitions or solos from the other members. And lastly, the "bridge" between the slow and fast paced part of the song is straight out Deep Purple's "Child in Time".🤘🐺🤘
ZilBell, IIRC.
I did, its so cool,,🥁she does that on other songs to,,🤘🤘🤟
I think you're the first reactor I've seen to pick up on Asami's gesture of triumph after the long sustained note. Actually similar to Floor after THAT note in Ghost Love Score (Wacken 2013). In both cases, as you said, they know they've nailed it, and the audience concurs!
Great review, thank you. Try Spellbound from the 2021 concert, featuring a very different solo from Miyako & Midori (dare I say unique?), with a classic retro feel, and the ladies having a lot of fun on-stage. Cheers.
I swear this is like the All-Star of musicians that you have in this group
Goddesses don't sweat!
Bro, react to 3piece Metal Band ASTERISM songs (instruMetal) Dawn, Rising Moon, Light In The Darkness...you will not regret it....🤘
EPIC
🤘🐺🤘LOVEBITES & Mao Yamamoto🎹Also composer-producer with Fuki .
I believe the only piano part that Miyako plays that isn't a Lovebites composition is the Chopin Etude in Swan Song!!
Everything else she plays i believe its all Lovebites original!! She writes a big part of their songs and they also work with Mao!
Im just a bedroom drummer, never taken any lessons, from what i understand what Haruna is doing on the bridge with the bell hits is what is known as a Polyrhythm.
She's driving the song with the kicks but also going against it by accenting with another rhythm with her right hand on the bell hits!! i can be totally wrong!! This band is incredible!! 🤘🐺🤘
In their Heavy Metal Never Dies Live DVD, there are behind the scenes footage after the show and trust me, Haruna was sweating!! 🤘😄🥁✨
Nothing new. Her cymbal work is the stuff of legends. Wait while you catch her little dinks on the cow bell or wood block 🥁💥
This song was composed by Light Bringer Mao.
It would be more correct: Lyrics - Asami / Music -Mao / Arrangement - Lovebites, Mao
LOVEBITES 🐺 INCREDIBLE
That cymbal you are talking about is called an Ice Bell. And yes, very distinctive in a few of their songs. It has the ability to cut through any wall of sound. I always notice it.
Also that marching drum pattern you commented on, is inspired from a 1970 Deep Purple song 'Child In Time'. Now that would be a great reaction for you to have a go at.
It would be good to see your reaction to see where some more of their influences come from. ruclips.net/video/OorZcOzNcgE/видео.html
Oh. And as my mum once told me..."Women don't sweat. They glisten". But Princess Haruna is such an efficient drummer that she doesn't even do that.
your getting behind. first theres judgement day, and now they dropped the spirit lives on. both from the album judgement day
Next song please WE THE UNITED or FROZEN SERENADE.
👌👌👌👌🌟🌟🌟🌟💫 love it
These ladies in the best now.
Μidori started working out a lot after this show...
Devine beeings don't sweat 😃
Btw the cymbal is an Ice bell
I love your reactions. I seldom make recommendations to Lovebites songs because you can"t go wrong with any of them (except bloodstock of course). But having watched all your Lovebites videos, here's what you will like to see. Scream for Me from 5 of a kind tour.
ruclips.net/video/acwkphgzNg8/видео.html
(there's some sweat too)
Beautiful 🐺
Nice reaction I'm done SUBSCRIBE
I don't know about you but personally I feel like the piano/guitar riff at the end of the song sounds like the music from the 80's movie "The Exorcist". It's not the same melody but the sound reminds me the sound of the movie. ruclips.net/video/264APnVK-qQ/видео.html
Ice Bell cymbal
SWEATING............... RICE IS LIFE!!🤣🔥🤟🔥🤟🐺🐺🐺🐺🐺🦧🍌🙏
